Syrp - Genie 2

I can only agree with what other users said before. there is a lake of stability that is highly annoying. I struggled last night to shoot Milky Way panorama, it took me about 30min to have finally my first pano done. It was constantly loosing the connection while setting the framing, unable to get back to the setup I was working on. 30min to setup a pano of 24 images pan/tilt why is that so complicated? Sometimes, trying to re synchronize the whole thing after disconnection, the pan was shifted out from what I framed initially... Within a 2h30m time window I could only finish the setup of 3 panos and the third one stopped in the middle while shooting without any possible way to recover the setup and resume or restart... This is virtually unusable with my original Genie Mini's (Tilt Pan kit). It initially connects to both devices fine but as soon as I try setting up a new shooting scene it drops connection from one or both of the genie minis (yes I am updated to the latest firmware on both minis). I'm not sure if they've made it completely buggy and unstable so that I have to upgrade to the Mini II but as it stands my original genie mini's are expensive paperweights. Super disappointed, I really wish I could roll back to the original app which worked very well.

I use it with genie II pan tilt and linear module. It has great capabilities and very easy to start simple tasks. As tasks become more complex, the software becomes bulky and difficult to use; I could not find a feature of repeating the same programmed task (keyframes) a number of times at a given interval. The rpeatbility of the linear stage is good, although at the first glance the rope did not seem very promising. I use the pan tilt and linear functions for scientific repeated measurements(images), so I would like to see a tool for planning the camera's more quantitatively and easy.

Lots of stability issues. I'll setup and run one sequence, then I can't start another with crashes and connection issues. I contacted, they recommended I Uninstall/reinstall the app. That seems to have fixed the issue. I wish they would consider an optional interface, a light mode. The app is almost unusable in bright sunlight.

Had completed all the rigging for a shoot (Super Bowl product ad campaign) earlier this week and then the app auto-updated on 12/03. After the app updated it no longer connects to my brand new Linear Drives on my Pixel 3 or Pixel 2 both running the latest vanilla version of Android OS. Uninstalled/reinstalled the app multiple times on both devices. After spending a few hours troubleshooting I tried on iOS and it connected instantly. All-in-all a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon...

Connectivity problems to the linear module are a major issue with this app. I've tried different phones, bought a different genie linear, different networks - didn't matter. It now sits on a shelf gathering dust until I can get ride of the whole Syrp kit (sliders, extensions, slingshot... All useless without a connected linear module). Save yourself the hassle and go with an iFootage set-up.

Over all it Works ok but the UI needs improvements. I would like to be able to use the quick set up option with the Genie mini for pan and tilt as I like that interface better. Also a free movement mode should be added, as it is now if I want to move the Genie mini for pan or tilt I must go into one of the set up modes before I get any options for moving the Genies. Please add Panorama set up and portrait orientation (for the app) support.

The recent update has broken connectivity and connect merely shows "searching..." forever. Uninstalled and re-installed app. Reset to factory defaults. Cycled phone. Followed guidance on bluetooth stability. No change. Device can be seen in bluetooth pairing, but app will not connect. Genie Mini II. Android 10 on Samsung A20e. This update has broken connectivity for a number of users, if not all. See the ongoing thread on the Syrp Facebook page.

This app is better than SYRP's first attempt at an app. Things I like: 1) Keyframing has a nice visual interface 2) Multi-row panoramas. Things I want to see: 1) Ability to set 15 degree rotation to match earth's rotation, 2) ramping support of some kind. The latest firmware update broke the connection between the genie mini and the timelapse+.

This works as well as their physical products... It doesn't. Brought this to three shoots in '21. It faild three times. Lost a client because of one of them and had to reduce pricing on the other two. All in between the gear and the lost profit this company cost mine over $10,000.00 If you want a toy trying to act like professional gear this is it. If you need advanced key framing this IS NOT the system for you, if you need quite operation this IS NOT for you, if you need accurate repetition..

Not very fun to work with. Struggled to connect to Note 8 but finally I made it. Can't connect Genie2 to my Note20 Ultra at all with the bluetooth connection. Interface lacks of mobile friendly control some elements are fine, some totally not. Moving tot he selected frames manually on turntable is a nightmare. Would be nice if they have at least numbers.

Easy to setup and works well. The time sliders are very touchy and I have had to restart the setup (several times) because of it. Especially cumbersome when your phone is set to magnify the screen on a double tap. Please change it so a number can be directly keyed in.

Very excited with new app and genie ii linear! New era for syrp, app without bugs, stable connection, smooth and silent movement, solid build and nice interface! Waiting for mini genie support and bulb ramping addition and would be a near perfect 3 axis system for videographers and timelapsing photographers. Keep up the good work syrp!

A big improvement over their last attempt at an app in terms of features and functionality. However, still unable to find and connect to the syrp mini unless I go to android settings and clear all data for this app.

after downloading the app and even opening it, it does not save into my downloaded apps..cant find it anywhere.I have an Samsung Note 9.Also b4 when I used on my old S7 phone, and was in places like Yellowstone with no cell service, and would not let me timelapse a beautiful sunset because there was an update I HAD to download first..so the entire app won't work when I need it to...waste of money..and for another intrrvelometer...

Had an issue of not firing the camera correctly and firmware issues when changing app (if using this app don't use the other genie app - you'll be forced to change firmware). Forced reboot has sorted out the camera firing issues, great piece of kit for any aspiring photographer!

Will the older Genie mini have auto exposure ramping ( bulb ramping) or is this future feature only for the newer hardware? I've given it three star review as I have found the Panorama side of the app to be unreliable so much so I have purchased a manual Panorama head .The bonus for me now is I can set the Genie mini going with a Time Lapse while I shoot Panoramas with my second camera sorry about the previous two star rating that was a bit harsh. P.S I have missed some amazing shots due to the App with the Genie mini playing up on me sometimes it will work perfectly other time it would not work correctly in Panorama mode I'm hoping that this second version has fixed some of the issues I have had

Modules don't sync together. I can either use tilt or magic carpet. Carpet keeps saying "resync" and randomly jitters and stops so it's useless. Syrp has been a nightmare. This was an egregious waste of money for something over only gotten to work reliably one time.

invested 300 euro in the genie 2 turntable and the app doesn't even start to work! i have tried this on 2 android phones and same results.

I keep getting asked to connect to the wifi on the genie 2 linear but I have not been provided with a password for it and it wont complete the firmware update without connecting to the wifi on the device>?>?>

App forced update bricked the mini. Support is useless telling me to reseat the battery. I now have a $200 paper weight...... Support stepped up and sent me a replacement. Works as it should now.

Forced new update leaves my genie mini ii obsolete. Won't finish completing upload and even if I uninstall the app or resett battery it still doesnt work.
