If I could rate lower I would. Apparently this is the only thing you can use to unlock your pixel from T-Mobile and it NEVER WORKS. Immediately, it tells you there's server issues and you can't get pass the first page. Unbelievably poor app from a major brand.
Complete trash. Won't unlock over WiFi like it's supposed to, just keeps giving a Server Connection error. Reinserting the old TMobile sim just leads to network connection failures and a continued inability to unlock it.
Doesn't work at all. Premium rates for lackluster experience. My pixel 6 keeps giving me a notification to use this app, yet the app refuses to do anything without running into "server issues"
Has anyone gotten this to work? I wish there was a reply feature so we could help each other out. This is an absolute nightmare. I cant get in contact with any of my contacts. Apparently I'm gonna have to go to a store even tho I did it online to avoid that. Gotta love how there's absolutely no one responding to anyone's complaints either. What a great company
Complete trash, does not work. A true nightmare to try to unlock a phone through T-Mobile. They basically give you the run around with this useless app
It worked to temp. unlock my Pixel 6. You need to call support first and they can request it. It took 48 hours. After that time the buttons turned from gray to pink and after a restart the device was temp. unlocked. There should be a description at startup how the process works.
I had to find a Pixel device to download and install this app so that I could rate it and let you all know how T-Mobile sent me an email from a do not reply address with a link to this app instructing me to use it to unlock my Samsung Galaxy S9 that is not even allowed to download this app from the store because it's not compatible.
I read quite a few reviews that were negative, but my experience with it has been very positive. It does exactly what it's supposed to...which is unlocking your phone, and seeing the status. (It does work, by the way) Also, if you don't want this app to be on your phone... just disable it, it goes away. I did it with the Google Fi app, that's pre-downloaded. Yes, it's "technically" still there, but it won't be visible, or take up any room.
Surprised to find this on my Fi Pixel 3a XL but updated and ran the check anyway. Said my phone is unlocked and can be used on any carrier. also said I can uninstall app and save storage space. have been. noticing that phone was only connecting to Sprint so wonder if now it'll begin latching onto Tmo like my Moto X4 did regularly before. explanation from Google /Fi would be nice. 🤔
Have Pixel 3XL from Sprint. Seems to have worked as advertised - I installed the app, ran Permanent Unlock check, it approved and did it's thing, I got a system notification saying "carrier lock removed", then it prompted me to reboot and uninstall the app - done and done. 4 stars for now because I haven't tested it with a 3rd party sim just yet to verify 100% it worked - but seemingly it did. Seems a bit clunky to have to install a separate app for this since Samsung, OnePlus, and others have the feature baked into their Settings app.
They've finally found a way to infect even unlocked phones with apps that cannot be uninstalled, and worse, it locked my factory unlocked phone purchased straight from Google store. T-Mobile rep argued with me that the app was installed by Google and that it's not a T-Mobile app. You can literally go F yourself T-Mobile. Sincerely, customer since 2002 (VoiceStream).
This is either preloaded with the new Pixel 4 XL or updates immediately during setup. Same with the T-Mobile app by T-Mobile. Not cool on an already unlocked phone, carrier free. I also needed to come here to uninstall. No option on long press or drag to uninstal.
Came preinstalled on a replacement Pixel 3XL from Google Fi. I was ok with paying more on a monthly basis if it meant having the cleanest possible Android experience, and Google Fi sneaks this bloatware into my replacement unit without any explanation. Shame on them.
This app installed automatically on unlocked pixel 4. Like others have said not having bloatware is a big reason for buying a pixel 4 in the first place. Cannot delete or uninstall even though the app says itself to uninstall it after use. Completely stupid and a waste of everyone's time. I'm seriously thinking about abandoning pixel and TMobile over this nonsense.
I ordered an unlocked pixel 3 from Google Fi. Recently, it developed screen issues and got a replacement phone, but it came with the T-mobile and this app. When you open this app, it indicates the phone is locked to T-mobile and the app will run and say the phone is now unlocked, but if you open the app again, it will say the phone is still locked, so I have no clue if the phone is actually unlocked or if due to a technicality because Google Fi runs on T-mobile that I can actually use it.
Why does my UNLOCKED Google Pixel 3a include this bloatware (along with the T-Mobile app)? Highly unacceptable when you're getting a brand new phone from Google! This is my second 3a. I had to return the other one because of a defect. It didn't have these apps pre-installed, so why does my second one?
I agree, zero stars. I did not install this app nor do I have any use for an app like this. I happen to be one of the T-Mobile insiders and I'm not afraid to admit that I traded in that crappy Samsung G9 phone that sends everything about our privacy back to Samsung for this Pixel 3A XL. I will not have a carrier screwing up my phone by installing software that I did not authorize. I hope you read this, T-mobile and know that I have stuck with you for a long time because you were not like this.
Buggy and didn't work over WiFi but seemed to over Cellular Data, but it was pretty instantaneous, so if it worked as it claims to, that's pretty painless!
Zero stars! I purchased my Pixel 3a-XL directly from Google to avoid carrier nonsense. My phone didn't come with this app installed. I'm appauled at google for allowing T-Mobile to stick this app on my phone when it shouldn't have been on it. If it keep renstalling itself I'll definitely not purchase another Pixel phone.
Bought my Pixel 3a (unlocked). Now I find this app (which I didn't install & don't need) and can't uninstall it!?! Along with the recent failure of Native Visual Voicemail support, that's 2 strikes...
I bought my pixel xl 3 from Google Store a year ago. I can not uninstall this unwanted Garbage App. I open it up and click eligibility for unlock. It says my phone is unlocked and can uninstall this app. It won't let me uninstall the app. This App is taking up storage space against my will. This space is purchased for my own usage and not for an app that was installed without my knowledge or consent. I own this device. EDIT: I found an easy work around to remove it.
It worked on my Google Pixel 3a XL. I had to deal with T-Mobile and their customer service because I kept getting a server error prompt telling me to try again later when trying to unlock my phone. I popped in my old deactivated T-Mobile SIM and boom it worked.
I'm unable to uninstall this from my phone. I got sent a refurbished phone from Google for my phone that I purchased directly from Google. I should not have to deal with extra apps that I don't want. I should be able to uninstall this. For the record this thing does work and says my phone is unlocked.
If you have TMobile this app is a waste of time and won't work. You have to call T-Mobile. Meet their requirements. Then they will help you unlock it. Be prepared for a lot of run around. Be patient and kind. If you finally get a helpful representative, it will still take 48hrs to fully unlock.
Bloatware that was installed on my Pixel without my permission. I bought it through the Google Store directly for use with Google Fi. I have never been a T-Mobile directly and their apps shouldn't be forcibly pushed to my phone.
Hi,I downloaded but not working, my phone is still lock on T-Mobile , this is error, Unlock failed. Uh-oh, you've ran into server issues, please try again later.plz fix thanks
Horrendous app. Won't unlock my phone. The phone is fully paid off. Getting the error. Unlock failed. You've ran into server issues. T-Mobile has no clue.
Server connection issues. Isn't functional. T-Mobile support can't assist. If you have a locked Pixel you're out of luck, it's going to stay carrier locked.
I travel a lot and buy all phones unlocked. Why was this automatically installed on an unlocked phone by Google/T-Mobile? Worse, you cannot uninstall it. I buy pixels because they are absent of bloatware, so this is incredibly infuriating. FIX THIS.
This shouldn't be such a headache to deal with, show some competency, T-Mobile. The app doesn't appear to be working on Android 10 on my Pixel 3a XL. It simply tells me that there are server errors (which is terrible practice from a development standpoint because it clearly isn't the server). I also can't downgrade to 9 because my phone is carrier locked. I contacted support and after a month of going back and forth with them, they told me to use the app to unlock but it doesn't even work.
