The app is trash. My Tactacam 4.0 used to work fine. Now it will connect, but under "ssid unknown" and with zero functionality other than the live view. Cannot access settings, videos, etc. and app keeps freezing. I have done everything customer support has recommended: manually downloading firmware from the website, formatting SD card, uninstalling and reinstalling the app... HOURS of time wasted. Looking at the reviews, it seems they have been aware of this issue for months and still no fix.
App worked great for the first 2 months. Now its middle of bow season and when I open the app the cam name is "unknown ssid" and I can view the live image on my phone but can't change settings or view/delete videos on the SD card. When I try, the app freezes and closes. I have tried removing and adding the camera again, and nothing changes. Unfortunately there's not a new update either. Would be 5 stars if the app worked like it did 2 months ago.
Love the camera. Hate the app. In fact I would most likely purchase more Tactacam cameras and accessories if the App worked. Unfortunately as of right now I can't view anything I record in the field, which is vital. Because the App is S%!t, I have to wait until I can load my sd card onto my computer. Button line fix the app or I'm going back to my GoPro!!
Doesn't always connect with my Samsung S10. When it does, the settings page is worthless as the lines of text overlap each other. BLUETOOTH would be a much better way to connect. WiFi is ok in the field, but at home the phone wants to connect to the router.

Something happened to me and no anyway can fix it too ,delete app and return it bought other new but same .
App locks up when trying to go to "playback mode". As others have stated, it shows the live video perfectly fine, and the camera does record. The apps works as a controller, but playback currently doesn't work on this app (which is the main advantage and reason for purchasing)
My gf brought me tgis for Christmas. The camera does it's job but omg the app is terrible. I hook up Wi-Fi to my phone and try to watch the videos and it buffers every 3 seconds. So annoying. I was able to download 1 video to my phone but it took so long and had no sound after downloaded Now everytime I try to download. It immediately says failed. The app even has the option to download a video to facebook bit it doesn't work. We r trying to work with customer service but nothing is getting done
Downloaded videos do not appear on my phone anywhere except on the app. When downloading video in a batch, app tell me video content not supported and will not playback video. Also when I try to share a video it just tells me the app stopped working and closes it out. App seems fairly useless except to view/download videos while camera is connected which is not even that useful because I dont carry my camera everywhere I go.. Using a Samsung Galaxy S10 plus
This has been a nightmare! Had to resort to my acient tablet to get all the updates and now I can only view recorded video from my old phone. The new phone freezes up as well as the camera when trying to access the saved files. Even my old blackweb camera works better than this high priced junk!!!!
Works well with my Google pixel 6. Just have to remember to click "ok" when it asks if I want to stay connected because the internet is not available on that WiFi connection. Otherwise it will not connect the camera in the app.
App needs work. Just like many other complaints I can't view any of my footage. When I click on the option to look at videos the app freezes. App does allow you to change the setting and record and stop so thats why it didn't get one star
The app used to work when I first bought the camera. I changed phones and the camera will no longer connect. Tried deleting the app and start over. Nothing works. The tips customer service recommend doesn't work. Too bad the videos are pretty good but the app is useless.
Received as a Christmas gift in 2019: Tactacam 4.0. Worked fine in January 2020. Not anymore. December 2020 and having issues exactly as described in other reviews. Unable to access files..freezes up..etc. Many emails to tactacam. They even replied with "updated app in the play store 12-8-2020." Well that didn't fix it. You have ruined our investments. Do not purchase!
The app works but it would be awesome if it had better instructions. I got my camera second hand so no manual. Found the manual online but it would be really simple to just include the PDF in the app. Connecting, editing modes and such works well once you understand how to do it.
I have the Tactacam 4.0 and it works perfectly as a stand alone camera, but this app is 100% useless and will not connect to the camera via wifi even though my phone says it is connected. I have been back and forth with Tactacam CS with zero resolution, however they said they are working on a new app so hopefully this gets resolved.
App is very slow to load and sometimes shows videos and photos as if they were not recorded but yet when I install the sd card to a computer they all show up. Most frustrating is how I can't share video or photos from the app, as Tactacam solicitated.
well finally they updated the app over amonth later now when i go to settings it opens so who ever else that has tactacam should be able to access the settings not much there to do in setting thought would be more I have bone collector solo I thought it says u will see 3 times closer does not seem to me looking not real impressed with the video 30 yard shot looked like 100 to me can't see arrow in target and when I shot seemed like camera got distorted they should have video stablebility.
The Tactacam 5.0 is a great camera and works great with the wireless remote...however the app wont let me share the videos even after I uploaded them to my phone. I hit the share button and it forces a shut down every time. The app other than that works well with my S9.
Yup same problem as everyone else, worked and now it doesn't. Tactacam emailed me and said they're aware of not being able to view videos thru the app and they're working on it. We'll see how long it takes. It's otherwise useless
Works great as a remote but that's it. The playback capabilities through the app don't work. It locks up and closes the app everytime. Really the app is pointless. Advertisement says instant playback but thats false.
Was very satisfied now not so much. The app no longer works properly and I thought it was a tactacam issue turns out its an android issue working with the app Called tactacam and they said it has nothing to do with their product. So until the creators of this app fix the problem so people with android phones could use the app as it it suppose to work I would not recommend this app at all. Thanks and have a great day.
After the initial use, I've been unable to upload videos and I'm unable to view old videos. everytime I try the app crashes and closes. Attempting to contact customer service has been a joke as well.
Crashes EVERYTIME I click on the Gear (Settings) icon using Samsung Note 8. Unable to configure settings. I have a Tactacam Solo. Uninstalled and reinstalled app, cleared cache etc., rebooted phone but was still never able to open the Gear (Settings) options
The tactacam cameras are great but my Galaxy S10 freezes and cannot access the cameras from the most recent October 2021 app update. I had to go back to a older version for everything to work properly. Fix the app.
camera itself works great, I cannot share vids at all. I contacted customer service and after about 2 weeks of back and forth, they decided it was a problem with my phone. they advised me to contact samsung and ask them to change the operating system to function properly with the app. really? I also tried on iphone, and ipad without success. seems as though they are unwilling to fix the app to work with all operating systems. bad customer service.
