At first it seemed a great app. But right at the start resistence seemed strong. I subscribed to try a different ride (the demo rides are not plentiful - it would be better to offer a two week demo of all the app has to offer instead of a rather limited experience). But... the rides still had very strong resistence, even downhill. After reading of other users experiences I dropped the app and cancelled my subs and moved to BigRingVR. Wow, what a difference, resistence that works!
App is okay use, course selection good. Problem maintaining connection though. I use tacx indoor smart bike, but every ride around 6-7 miles in it pauses and says I'm not pedalling for about a minute -even though I am. Really annoying, and messes up my data.
Approx. 50% of the time the app freezes on my Android phone. I can restart it and it remembers where I was in the workout but it stops updating the trainer and the trainer seems to be fixed at one power setting. Seems to work ok on my windows laptop.
This app is fast to start and connect to my Tacx trainer, though sometimes drops out. I like being able to manually adjust power in erg mode. I don't find the training room to be very intuitive and the videos don't feel like they adjust the power? I would love to see native chrome cast. Edit, after riding a few fjords I can confirm the courses are pretty good.
Good overall, except 50% of the time it doesn't see my Vivoactive 4 broadcast heart rate, turn on turn off leave app, over & over again until it decides to see it . All other bike sensors connect quickly.
Lowering my score as the physical badges that can be won take forever to arrive. Had a challenge verified on 8th February, still hasn't arrived by 1st April not good enough. Good alternative to swift. Nice to feel like you're on a real road. Only downside is other users are only on the progress map, not the main screen
It's alright. Lacking some in-workout functionality. Unable to create custom workouts. Workout search and filter feature leaves a lot to be desired.
Easily could do UI improvements. I use it for the video rides mainly. Recently I have to restart the app a few times to pick up the neo smart trainer, but this evening I finished a ride and it said it was saving the ride and I could close the screen. I did after 10 minutes and it had not saved it! I don't hope to get this ride back like with trainerroad support, and by the looks of the support comments here it looks like standard responses. Debating whether it is worth the monthly cost.
Good, but navigation is clunky. Good training programmes. But not sure its worth £7.99 a month. Updated 8th Feb 2022: way way better. Very happy with the consistency of app and trainer, variety of rides and workouts and programmes. The Tacx team have defo turned it around and it's really reassured me of decision not to go to other more expensive options.
Why has the screen option showing average watts, average speed aveage heart rate and average cadence with the workout option been removed from the Tacx Training App ? This was a useful option. Stars reduced to one as this is retrogressive programming.
great movies that make indoor cycling entertaining with a real-feel touch! app could be improved if with multiple users, the trainer would adjust its settings (e.g. gears, fan, etc.) automatically to the settings defined by the current user during his/her last ride, and not use the settings defined by the last user.
Poor Internet connection cycled an hour with no route to view. Update: 05/02/2022- continue to have very interrupted videos during training despite good Internet signal on numerous devices. Interference from apps that play music during cycling making it very difficult for long rides. Really enjoy the graphics and the ability to cycle in so many places.
A good intro to indoor cycling - I'm a complete novice at virtual cycling but bought a used Tacx trainer from a friend and have started using it while the recent appalling weather has kept me off the road. Set-up was pretty straightforward using the Tacx app which talks to Garmin Connect and onwards to Strava. It's pretty tedious and I haven't yet taken the financial plunge into group rides etc...but I'm considering it. Overall I think it's been a pretty good experience
Impossible to see my saved rides, it just keeps "thinking" also annoying to be asked to connect to garmin everything you log in if you don't intend to do that. So this app is pretty much useless and only an annoying tool to set resistance on the tacx stand (would be more efficient if that was manual and no app was needed).
Early use of the app is filled with frustrations and peculiarities, but persistent use and "just getting used to it" bring a happier experience. The ride videos are great. The on-screen info is well laid out. I do think, though, that a "Getting started" info page would be useful. Cheers, Garmin!
UninstLled, reinstalled, also Tried desktop Win 10 machine.. act8vity Paused 12 times, app froze twice and hitting the app stopped, do you want to report, also did not work. Previous emails to Tech Support offered no suggestions. Updated... the above is AFTER contacting support, which suggested the usual fixes. NONE WORKED. still drops connection to train... latest 8 mile ride Paused activity 8 times and app froze twice requiring restart of phone to run app again as forcing close comes back f
I liked how easy it connected to my Tacx trainer and immediately connected to all available Bluetooth outputs on the trainer. The downhill function that spins the rear-wheel worked perfectly with this app. It did not work with the zwift program.
Works great with NEO bike after recent updates to app and bike firmware (shifting used to be erratic or delayed). Feel for climbs and road feel sometimes comes late vs video or map. App could benefit with a sync feature in settings to delay or advance road feel and resistance vs video for Tacx videos, or map (map when riding my own gpx rides).
I was looking forward to using this with my wahoo kickr snap trainer as it looked liked it was most free and had lots of content, but I was unable to connect to my trainer, so the app is pretty much useless to me. I don't have issues with any other training app, so it seems to be an issue with Tacx.
Resistance on the trainer too much when I calibrate with the app it's so hard to cycle. When I use Zwift no issues. Called Garmin, the lady had no clue and said someone will call me back that was a week ago. No one called until now.
I'm just using the basic workout features but I love the app anyway. Other apps make you pay a subscription to use the basic features; this app is no cost since I already have a Tacx trainer. I also appreciate that the app always reads my trainer and my Garmin HRM, and sends the results directly to Garmin so I can use my smartwatch independently.
Need to have an option for "No Smoothing" of GPX files. App makes to much of a correction and cuts known elevation (consistent barometric altimeter data from repeated rides on the same course) by anywhere from %50-75% or more when creating a workout in the app.
Why did you change the way you start? Now we have to adjust settings after the workout has started AND EVEN AFTER SETTING THE POWER, IT DOES NOT AF JUST. You have to end session AND try again. Not to mention the connectivity drops several times. Please fix asap as I train daily. I did email
Shocking! After two weeks of using the 'free' rides on the App and carefully selecting a number of Favourites, I opened the App today to find that ALL of my Favourites are now Premium Subscription only!!! So Garmin, is this something that automatically happens after two weeks or have you decided that everyone needs to pay for your Premium Subscription to top up the BILLIONS of dollars in Revenue you receive every QUARTER? Currently considering returning the product out of principal.....
I've been using this App now for a few weeks, but the last few days I have Been unable to use it, every ride I connect to, stops after 3 seconds and freezes and pauses tells me to peddle to carry on cycling. And am still cycling. Nothing more frustrating when you pay for an app and you can't use it. Tried Google and tried all kinds and I still can not use the app. Does anyone have any ideas , or contact details , as am going to cancel my subscription.
Seems OK for some things but the training plans - which I mainly want to use the app for - need a lot of work. The website shows "Active Training Plan" and "Next Workout", the app does not. Instead you need to go to "training room" -> "training plans" select your plan which brings you to the website where you then need to select which of the sub plans you are using and then select the workout you want to do next. It does not even show you which parts you already completed. This is such a bad experience, that I must be doing something wrong, but there's also almost no documentation. I'm also missing a scheduling feature. Thankfully there was a coupon for a free month of zwift included with my Tacx trainer, so I'll take a look at their offering.
