This is an update from a prior review, and I did increase my score one star. I still have my qualms with the platform, but overall, a pretty good selection of jobs. If you're busy and can't take jobs, it doesn't affect anything, you're still notified for all available jobs, unlike those that base you on rating or score. I can make a little extra money when it's really convenient for me without reprocution. To do full time, I think it would be difficult, it's OK as an income buffer
Its a great concept. The app is clean and easy to use BUT I feel its a waste of time. The customers have WAY too long to choose a provider, making it hard to make plans, or accept other work. TAKL also makes you pay $25 for a background check. When you get work, they take a fee from you as well as the customers. Its a win-win for TAKL but not for anyone else. I personally haven't seen a dime of income from this app. Basically I wasted $25 and storage on my phone for this app.
Great app! Easy to use. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!! As a provider, the customers are great, pay is great and "the office" provides everything you need to know AND THEN ASK " Is everything as it says it is"? , before and after photos etc etc. All suggesting they have my back in case something goes wrong, no bs and that the customer is getting quality work. I LOVE IT!!😀
I rate this zero. Your app is ridiculously hard to use, I took photos 3 times, and each time I Set it up they were lost. Doesn't even save a copy. Huge waste of more than an hour of my time. Perhaps you don't know what a handyman is. I could not tolerate a different person and appt. for each task; think had 18 simple tasks. Iam a 62 yr old woman and I Could do these easily. Their pricing is 100% higher than I could get elsewhere, including Angie's LIst and Home Advisor. RIP OFF.
I'm using TAKL as a provider. Enjoy the quick and easy notification process 4 available jobs. My biggest problem with the app is that it constantly is showing no number available for the customer. The only fix is to uninstall and reinstall the app. This makes it exceptionally difficult to communicate with the customers that have selected me
I like the app but always room for improvement. I wish the providers bio's had a little more of their "abilities". I know they only bid on jobs they can do but a short list of their "abilities" would help a lot when selecting the provider. Oh, and where they are from i.e. city would be great.
(Written from provider's perspective) TL;DR - Good money if you have a variety of skills and equipment and can take jobs on short notice. I have been a provider for a few months, so I feel like I've seen enough to leave a credible review. The money for the time required is usually excellent. Yes, the app takes a chunk of the total cost the customer pays, but it's a for-profit business with overhead, not a charity. The remaining balance that goes to the provider is, in my opinion, generally fair for the work required. You have the ability to decline jobs, and it takes some practice, but you will quickly learn what you can afford to take and what you cannot. You need to factor in gas, maintenance, drive times/traffic, insurance, etc into your decisions. If you are in a smaller market, there are bound to be less available opportunities. If you are in a larger one, there will be more competition. That's just how it goes. There are definitely a few cons - occasionally customers ask for far too much for the chore price selected, or misrepresent the scope of the work. The app can be a little buggy with uploading pics and notifications. Chore availability often feels sporadic.
This is nearly waste of time. 75% of the time I accept of job and the customer does not select a tasker so i cant plan at all and end up wasting the time because i couldn't schedule anything else for that time. Im not sure if takl is explaining to them well enough that they have to select someone. Takl needs to set a time limit for the clients to select someone and if they don't then automatically cancel it. It is so frustrating to be waiting over and over and nothing happens.
Good app. Can make some decent money if your in the right area. One complaint is it would be nice if we as providers could set our own distance for service. I will not travel 60 miles one way for a task. Other suggestions is provider should have a way to ask questions to the potential client if their description isnt clear or detailed.
This company is running advertisements like crazy in my area but when i installed the app and tried something as simple as leaf pickup i was told there were no providers in my area. Seems like a big waste of money to me, what a bunch of dingbats. Anyway i tried changing the task i was looking for (tried all available tasks) and nope not available in your area. Major metropolitan area i might add. Oh well you lose takl.
Wish I'd read the reviews prior to wasting time booking a job only to have it cancelled twice. After finally getting a provider, and not hearing from him after I sent a text through app I realize this is not as cut and dry as advertised. Quick to charge account with exorbitant costs, but not deliver services requested. Very disappointing!!!
Very useful in finding someone fast with upfront fees. There needs to be a way to easily reschedule and needs to be a way to re-post when someone doesn't show up but it is a way better option than Craigslist for finding help, for now, until the flimflam men find their way here as well.
Really like app. So far, jobs are clearly identified and haven't had issues with app or customers. To this point, I've only been provider. I haven't used as service yet, its to supplement income. Update: about 4 months & 31 jobs., Providors, prepare for jobs (tools, screws, sandpaper, painting supplies, depends on job) Some hiring cuz they do not know what is needed. It took a long time to actually get chosen, months, I almost forgot about the app. After initial job completion its been steady
I've had a lot of good jobs with this app but also bad experiences. Sometimes you find great jobs, other times the customers never reply or it shows pending until its canceled making it hard to schedule or stay consistent. Some cases you get accepted and if the customer cancels for any reason they deactivate you like it was your fault. It is extremely unfair they treat providers like second class citizens and I can't imagine that's a good experience for the customers whose jobs i had lined up.
Tried to sign up as a provider only to find takl was going to charge me to go work. Couldn't find the option to delete my account, so I went to the chat option. Most companies with an online presence and a chat option have been able to solve my problem with a few minutes speaking with one person. This was not the case. I spoke with 3 people in the chat. My account still hasn't been deleted, and I wasnt given a timeframe for when it will be. If it's easy to sign up it should be easy to delete.
The 2 times I used it the service provider was great. Too bad the app is painful to use. Their help is not helpful. You get all the way through all the steps and it fails and you have to start all over. Even had my tech savvy daughter try and it failed to work on her phone. What a shame. I'm done with this app for good.
App seems to work ok. As a provider I wish there was a function to change you radius of availability. You have to contact customer support in order to do it. Open tasks disappear almost immediately so it can be difficult to get selected for a job. But I have enjoyed it.
Picture upload didn't work... No responses to my raking lawn add.. Very disappointing. I have a city lot so pretty small. I took photos of the lot and the app wouldn't let me upload the photos. So I contacted chat support, who was helpful after a little bit of back-and-forth, they said they put the photos on my ad. Now there's no way to actually go back and look at my ad so I can't tell for sure. After about four days now, no responses to the ad which were two rake my lawn for $200.
Good app. I like the simplicity of opening and closing chores. The only thing I would improve is making it mandatory for customers to describe the chore they want done completely and accurately to help with the decision to confirm if the chore is a good fit.
The app says you get messages with the task provider within the app. So when I was driving, then a message came via text from the person who would be working for me. I sent an auto message saying "driving call me" to the provider because I don't text and drive. I then got a nasty message saying "don't communicate with providers outside the app" I double checked but there wasn't any message within the app. There was only the text message to my phone. Besides they are the ones who contacted me outside the app. I tried chatting to someone named Emily with the chat provided within the app...all it did was say "This is NO ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS...NOTHING FOR 15 minutes. Just "Emily has logged on. This is Emily" The provider did a great job cleaning, but the company and the app is lousy.
Jobs are advertised as more plentiful then they really are. You get a notification for 20 available jobs, open the app right away and you see 3 or 4. Hard to believe that many jobs can be posted, reviewed, requested for work, and then acceptance of work in a matter of seconds. I don't have a problem with how jobs are accepted by the provider, I have a problem with the amount of jobs that seem to be falsely advertised through the app. As stated early the notification states that there are 20+ jobs, only to open the app and find 3 or 4, this would happen nearly daily, with the same results every time. The pay on the jobs that are available are not reasonable whatsoever. I think the app is a waste of time. I have a regular job and was just going to use this app for supplemental income so it's not that big of a deal. If someone is counting on this app for reliable income, they are going to be in rough shape.
Just started using the app and wished there was more training on its operation. I completely missed that my after photos were loading as before photos so I couldn't close the job on site. I suppose I'll get used to it with more trial and error.
The app does verifications but i'm not receiving them on my phone. Unfortunately, there's ny another way to receive this verification like through email or phone call. This is a pretty bad problem which prevents me from signing up for the service.
the chosen provider was marked as busy AFTER i chose them two times. the charged my credit card 3 time BEFORE i even picked a provider. once i picked the provider, he made excuses not to come and when he did show up, he only did half the job, made arrangements to come back if i complete the order and never showed up. stay away from this app!!!!!
Beware! Don't use this app! I've used it 3 times and 2 of the 3 were bait and switches. They make you give credit card authorization before the provider shows up, then if the provider does not finish the work they still charge you. Then when I tried complaining through the chat option in the app, they deleted my comments and the app locked up on me. Sketchy business model. Beware!
Very useful, very convenient, easy to navigate. I was skeptical at first, but I received the help from a very professional provider and helped place my trust in Takle. They even tell you who is a preferred provider which is very helpful. I totally recommend them.
I think the fact I need access to Wi-Fi vs sms is a problem. I don't carry Wi-Fi in my truck or back pocket. Update: Now I can't log in under user info. Says internet connection has "timed out." Which is a complete load. The app on the earner side is quite weak. I tried uninstalling etc to no avail. I have no opinion on the client side. Connection timed out. Connection timed out. Connection timed out. "Developer contact" link is non existent. Translation, broken app.
