Fun game , but in single player it seems to have an immense anti-player bias. I usually end up watching the AI take productive turns while I make terrible rolls and pull enemies from the adventure deck that are unbeatable with the stats / items that I have on a consistent basis. Makes the game feel much less fun than multiplayer
Nice accelerated pace for quicker matches. I own the board game and quite a few expansions in person, and as great as it is online, you wont get the same experience as in person. Just food for thought. Best played with friends!
A very good board game. Easy to learn, hard to master. The only thing I don't like is that there's almost no RNG for AI. Use Random spell - AI gets a 6 to heal, take all but one life from it - it or another AI gets a full heal spell. One game I was on the Crown and wasted 3 turns there cause 2 of them went to a healer, then 2 steps away and 2 back to heal, while the game before I wrote this I had an AI stalk me and as soon as I get the item he gets on me and steals it. It really gets annoying
Exceptionally implemented digital version of the physical board game. The developers also allow for expansion purchase sharing between pc and android versions of the game. Keep up the great work!
The game is fun and well crafted, but the AI so heavily favours the non-player character that the game is unplayable alone, only worth it if youre playing with other real people. Seriously needs looking into
It's ok but could improve. The dice sit on top of a square so trying to move there can cause an accidental reroll. The board is small but surrounded by a lot of empty wasted space. I find it hard to see the details of game like character/board features and text because of that. The zoom function is not really enough to fix that. Otherwise the game is ok
Honestly, this game is quite fun if you play it solo or even hotseat pass and play is pretty decent implementation. However I can't give it a full five stars because of two issues that combine to make online play almost impossible. One, tabbing out of the app to switch to any other screen (text messaging client for instance) will disconnect the player from the game with no way I'm aware of to reconnect. Added to this is the worse of the two issues, which is the keyboard connection to the game is somehow messed up. It won't allow the use of backspace or enter keys. This breaks in game chat (which exacerbates the other issue, negating the ability to communicate with others while playing). This also breaks private server selection (since the name can't be changed, which is required for selecting the server). In a perfect world, the game wouldn't disconnect every time i switch to my text messaging client. It would also allow reconnection to the same game if I were disconnected. Since the games can take hours, it would also allow saving an online game in progress so it could be reconnected. I'd settle for fixing the keyboard, which would make the game painful and kludgey but at least playable online. My brother's iPhone has no issue with the keyboard. It's a very fun game, just a problematic implementation. Fix the bugs and I'll upgrade my review. And before you suggest it, I have filed a support ticket with Asmodee helpdesk.
Incredible adaptation of the boardgame! There is so much content here and it makes the game feel new every time. The instructions and tutorial make the game very understandable. The AI characters are challenging and the different boards/cards/characters add a ton of variety. The developers did a great job with this game. The interface is easy to use and I like the zoom in action on some of the moves. A living boardgame with a great fantasy theme.
Played this game for years and loved it. But each time another update is released, the developers manage to chip away and ruin the game further. The latest update makes the game unplayable - it's now impossible to trade in trophies to upgrade your character, which is the aim of the game! I've given up contacting the developers (proved to be a waste of time).
Overall it is true to the game. If you like the physical game this is fun. The interface is quirky - It's hard to read things and I wish that zoom was easer to use (pinch 2 zoom without the view mode transitions would be nice - think mac OS). I wish there was a "back" option for most things. There are times where "continue" means you can no longer change your mind and this can be frustrating. After killing someone at the crown of command I would like a "quick ignore all items" button. After killing 2 attackers dismissing 20 items each turn is annoying.
I've never played the board game so I went in blind, and this was funner than I expected. On default rules the game takes forever, but this can be sped up with optional house rules, skipping animation on AI turns, and alternative win conditions (only two conditions come with the base game). EDIT: lowered from five to three. the games dice reroll system is clearly broken and not random.
Really fun game, it's just like the board game! The only bad part is how easy it is to disconnect. Most apps/games run really well in the background but not this one. Even just pulling down my notification tab would sometimes cause me to disconnect. The good thing is it's easy to reconnect to the table but it's just annoying how much people disconnecting slows down the game when they are simply sending a quick text or checking a notification
As of today, the game will no longer start on my tablet, nor update the sound/graphics. I've owned this since it came out for Android and it has been one of my favorites ever since but this is RIDICULOUS! Won't even get to the title screen, once it said it needed to update sound/graphics but could not even do that. I see that there are many others having this problem. Please fix this as soon as possible! When playable I'll be more than glad to upgrade my review.
I see a ton of complaints about the single player experience but I have not had these issues with the game. The UI is a bit weird but is manageable to deal with. My main complaint is the tutorial isn't much of a tutorial just windows of text that pop up when you try an action for the first time. Meanwhile the game is still going on in the background while your reading it. Otherwise this is a pretty enjoyable game that I like playing in my spare time.
As someone whose never played the original boardgame, I'm thoroughly enjoying this digital rendition. Friendly UI, easy instructions, plenty of characters and modes for replay value, and several add-ons to purchase in addition to the game's dense contents. My favorite feature is the Skip to Next Human Player button, so you're not waiting 5minutes between your turn. It takes about 5 seconds to skip, leaving more time to actively enjoy playtime (something I wish the Horus Heresy version did). Also, being able to change options of the endgame is really neat if you're looking for a lengthy or quick game. Overall, a very satisfying, premium game worth every penny. Also, after it's initial release 4 years ago, the game is STILL being updated. Wonderful developers :)
The graphics are fine, but not outstanding, the game is very close to the board game, but the controls require significant improvements: the buttons are tiny, you miss them half of the time, you have to do a lot of unnecessary button presses, some buttons are not even signed. Frankly the controls simply ruin an overall pleasant game.
I have been playing Talisman the boardgame for almost 20 years and this app is a faithful, polished, and very enjoyable adaptation. Learning curve on buttons and turn sequence may be a little steep but the manual is helpful. Most of my playtime has been on airplanes and I am very happy that this does not require an internet connection to play. I have purchased all of the expansions and I feel I have barely scratched the surface of the game.
The AI is annoying, the UI requires a million clicks and doesn't manage conditionality, at all, and the game takes longer to play than the physical game. This is a classic example of a video game version being worse than the analog game. The solo version should be a quick and fun experience that recapitulates the fun of the board game while the computer manages all of the upkeep. Instead this version makes the player do extra upkeep and says the game of it's fun.
I really like this game but have 2 large complaints. One is that about 1 in 5 games it glitches and won't give me the option of going to the inner region. I have to find a portal to get around it before the AI wins. Secondly, the red on green text for health isn't legible unless you're on tablet. Could you maybe add a colour blind option, because there's no way to read it at all if you're fully colour blind. Also an option to cast it to a TV would be a great way to make it a good party game.
Amazing game that I've played since I was a kid. Great to have it on Android. Two bugs: 1) In a 2 player game, both players were on woods, with axes. Player 1 used their axe, but on player 2's turn, they couldn't. 2) The orb item wasn't able to be activated on drawing adventure cards. Other than that, keep up the good work!
Multiplayer is great but I'll agree that the AI really could use some work. If you're playing singleplayer, the best play is with the original map and the first two expansions. The rest of the main board expansions and small things like Realm of Souls should be fine, but if you add any new corner boards the AI starts to do absolutely nothing but bumble in and out of especially the Woodlands at random.
Very good digital adaptation of a VERY old game. If you like Chutes and Ladders then this is its Fantasy version: grab it!
For the second time after an update, all my data has been removed, even though I have an account specifically to save it. All my runestones, all my stats, etc. I've already had to work to get them all back once, I'm definitely not doing it again. You really need to fix that. Either way I'm not keeping the app.
Fantastic. I had the original board game and this is very close to it. I really like that you can have AI opponents along side people playing online and on the same device and the fact you can save your games and pick them up again any time is brilliant. Worth the 5 stars. Worth every penny of the £2.99 spent.
I have owned the board version for 20 years and have been playing it for 30, but it's hard to find people who want to sit at a table for a few hours and play. This app is worth the price. I play at least once a day, you can play with AI and you can speed up the AI's turns so it's back to you in a few seconds. At first it is hard to win because the AI goes after your character, but after I started to level up and have been awarded a few items it starts to get easier.
