This Jeevesian text-based adventure is a lot of fun and quite a challenge to achieve a desired ending. I played through a half dozen times at least to find all the narratives, with surprises each time! Have tried other stories by this dev. They put a lot of thought into the choices, and insert a lot of humor and emotion into the characters. Well done.
Really fun so far, but man I wish there were save points or restarting at a chapter instead of all the way over. I legit kept going back to start when I messed up over something minor or a wrong tap. The story has a lot of branches so trying to remember what I already choose exactly so I could keep the character choices I developed became difficult. This is frustrating on several levels, but replayability was affected the most. Still, it was a great game. So 5 stars.
Worth the money I spent. While the story doesn't actually have that mucu variation when you play it, outside of a few key moments, the story is so charming! I fell in love with the characters, and would love to have more od Rory's adventures. The first playthrough is amazing, even if it does lose a lot of the magic on subsequent ones (as these games always do).
Super impressed by how entertaining and immersive the story is. I'm only on my second playthrough and it's obvious how different you can make the story and what twists and turns your choices can lead you down. It's interesting no matter how many times you've played, and incredibly funny and witty. There have been plenty of times when I've had to put my phone down so I could laugh and contemplate the absurd situations you can willingly (or accidentally) get yourself into. I find myself excited to not only see all the endings, but also get all the acheivements. Even the characters I thought I wouldn't like end up charming and fun. So overall, this interactive story has my praise and respect, and I'm excited to read others by this developer, once I can peel myself away from this one!
So far this has been my favorite story that COG has to offer, outrageous, funny, interesting and oh boy do the characters leave a lasting impression. The middle to late middle part is a bit confusing but everything else is perfect, I love it. You can get good endings, bad endings and although I've played it 5+ times I still have yet to see all the story has to offer!
This was my first choice of game and will always be one of my favourites (the other favourite being its sequel 'Jolly Good'). It is an absolute delight to read, with witty dialogue, meaningful choices and often times hilarious outcomes. The characters and the setting feels just real enough to be inmersive and still maintains a certain charming absurdity about it. The book is absolutely worth it's price (if not more), and I'd highly, highly recommend getting it.
It can be fun but it depends so heavily on strict stat checks youre playing the stats more than you can actually play the story. Every choice you make is determined by the stat you invested in the beginning, or you will fail terribly. Wayhaven is good example of an exceptional text based game. Try that instead and you will see how you can have stats and still fully enjoy the story/game.
I loved playing this game. I suggest anyone who likes reading, roleplay, and choice games play this, it is very entertaining and detailed. After finishing the game you can replay if you'd like to pick different choices to get a different ending or just wanna see what happens. I also suggest "Into the Fog" if you liked this idea but would like a more mysterious story.
It is the best choice based game i have ever played. The story is very clever and intriguing. The characters are memorable and fun. Every choice you make has an effect on your personality and your story ingame. I literally replayed this game more than 20 times, just to get the perfect ending. And i really really wish that this game gets a sequal or another continuation Story.
Theres plenty of variety in this game meaning that sometimes you really are stuck with what kind of character you want to play because different options are very appealing, its fun and actually funny and the despite the concept being basic on paper it plays out really well. My only issues were some slight pacing problems towards the middle-end when everything got a big muddled, and sometimes I just could not tell what stats related to some of the options but recommended all the same.
Very funny and the dialogue and characters work so well! This is one of the few COG games where I actually want to replay and try different routes. The only downside is that the plot gets a little jumbled towards the end and there was one character that I felt like we didn't get to know super well
I really enjoy this game and its writing, but I wish the devs would include an option to restart a chapter instead of the entire novel. Many RPG games -- Telltale Games, Divinity, Dragons Age... - allow you to make save points, and it would add rather than deduct from the experience. Its frustrating when you accidentally swipe an option or misread something, then have to commit to a slight misjudgment.
The ridiculousness between the story and its characters plays so incredibly well that leaves me feeling all kinds of emotions whether that be thrilled, nervousness, laughter, annoyance, or all at once. Not only that, but the choices of this book does matter A LOT as it relies heavily on your stats, which itself gives you a good amount of replayability to see yourself in a lot of different situations. Not a 5-star rating sadly since it lacks a checkpoint system, which is generally a flaw from CoG
A bit pricey, but replay value is high. Story is exciting and quirky, with endless ways to solve a single problem. Definitely a choice-driven game that is intended to be played multiple times.
A funny story with high replay value! I have bought the game on Steam and is on my fifth playthrough. I have developed an attachment to every character in this game because they are very funny and loveable. I also would like to appreciate the amount of intricate details that went into this. 600k words definitely worth it to pay for. I really recommend this gamebook if you really love intriguing and hilarious scenarios.
This game is tricky. The choices are darn hard. AHHHHHH. I have to repeat this game for so many times I still can't achieve what I want. (Edit) I DID IT!!! No spoilers, I took a step back and follow my guts and I get the ending I really love! I love Rory, he is such a cute character. Wonderful writing! Here's hoping for more!!
It is extremely well done and written. The different paths encourage multiple playthroughs. The only flaw I could find is that sometimes the MCs character isn't consistent. A masterpiece.
This book is hilarious, splendid, wonderful, adorable, hilarious, thrilling, smart and ... did I say hilarious? It's like three different books rolled into one, depending on the choices you make. The characters are perfect (Haze being especially captivating) and the writing is very witty. It's actually BETTER if you fail stat checks because the writing gets even funnier. And there's no bad ending so there's a lot of scope for you to just relax and roleplay.
Definitely one of the best interactive novel game. With excellent and engaging writing to bring the characters to life and to even make you root for the minor character, Tally Ho is a mist buy. Try tge demo if you dont believe me! It has a bit of everything without suffering from supbar execution from trying to do too much.
I LOVE THIS GAME. The storyline is so wholesome and wonderful! I had an issue with restoring the purchase at one point, but the developer was really kind about it and got back with me almost immediately.
10/10 would rate it again! The story among itself is interesting, while the comedy adds a nice 'tune' to it aswell. I think the relationships you have are wonderful, and by no doubt are the characters personalities a wonderful gain! Probably the best 7$ spent for this company's franchise of games, and probably my favorite story out of them aswell!
Oh my god this one is so fun, I got very attached to rory lmao. One downside is the player character is kinda stiff sometimes? Like I'll press an option and think it'll be a funny affectionate joke and it'll be taken seriously but other than that I totally love it!! I would gladly pay for a sequel (which they TOTALLY SET IT UP FOR, HINT HINT @ CHOICE OF GAMES) and I wish it were longer. THIS ONE IS SO GOOD.
this game was fun, challenging, and hilarious with twists you never thought, or saw, coming with the choices you make. they have impacts on the storyline and i clearly loved it. i know i do because when onr such as this grabs me i play it quite a few times. excellent work. now than, my tea if you please.
I really enjoyed this game, despite the fact it probably has some of the most annoying characters I've encountered so far in a COG they are most certainly written for entertainment and it worked well. I've only played through the game once but will most certainly play it a few more times.
A good game, very good! Although many of the characters are annoying; Haze, Frank, & ESPECIALLY Inspector Ambrose & Mopsie. Holy Hell, them two were infuriating! I could only appreciate Rory & Valentine, they were enjoyable. I played twice, First; Anna Hudson A Perfectly competent Lady's Maid who helped Both Rory & Mopsie be wed to their loves but regretfully failed to enter the inner circle. Second; Dorine Poppins One with a Theiving past, Ruined both relationships & made Crazy choices.
