Tap – Find Water Anywhere

Tap is an app that allows you to find nearby Refill Stations, so you never have to buy bottled water again. You just open the app and within seconds you’ll find the closest place to refill your water bottle.

Tap’s Refill Station network is partly made up of partnerships with coffee shops and fast-casual restaurants, while also showing you best public places to refill your water bottle around the world. Whether a drinking fountain or a filtered water ATM, you’ll be sure to find it on Tap. We’re expanding and adding new Refill Stations every day to make Tap a convenient and reliable alternative to bottled water.

Tap currently has over 35,000 Refill Stations in 30 countries and 7,112 cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Austin, San Diego, Boston, Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax, Ottawa, Montreal, London, Sydney and more.

How it works:

• Find the closest Refill Station wherever you are.
• See water details for each Refill Station.
• Filter search results based on water preference.
• Get the quickest walking directions.

For Users:

• Cost-effective (free water)
• Eco-friendly alternative
• Convenient

For Businesses:

• More foot traffic
• In-app impressions
• Positive brand interaction

Over 1 million plastic bottles are purchased every minute and nearly 80% of these end up in our landfills and oceans. At this rate, the amount of single-use plastic ending up in our oceans will outweigh fish by 2050, unless we make a change.

Love the concept. I don't love the execution so far. They claim to update the app frequently, but I'm writing in June and the last update was February. I looked near my office, and it lists a restaurant that's since closed. It doesn't list a drinking fountain that's in a public park nearby, and there doesn't seem to be a way to update either one. Near my regular routes, I'm definitely far ahead of the app on having accurate info. This would be an ideal dataset to crowdsource.

Allows you to filter by different types of fill stations but gives no indication of what each one is (water ATM?). Map shows points but you can't tap them for info (like every other map based app in existence). Their website looks like it was set up via wix with a bunch of placeholders. They make sure it's easy to find their corporate sponsors though

I wanted to be able to add the places that I know will refill your water bottle. I wanted to suggest an edit for anything that was incorrect like the opening and closing hours of places listed. I love the idea of this and I wanted the users to be able to help make it really useful. I'm just disappointed and hope that the app will at some point allow the users to suggest and add changes.

not user friendly, as there is no sense in showing a tap that is 40km away. Moreover the results must be filter by distance and there must be provision for user to enter country, city and zipcode. Adding a feature for users to include new tap points I think would make this app brilliant.

Great for food businesses that offer refill options on water, however there are no options for water fountains in public parks or in malls. There is no way for someone to report a station to be added or has a feature to just add one yourself. Would give it more stars if that can be incorporated.

I love the idea but sadly this app is useless. Such an app MUST be based on user input. A user should be able to add and rate refill points. For now there are so few of them it's easier to just look around. This was the second app I tried and I'm still looking for one that does it right...

This is a cool app but there isn't many places nearby. in the entirety of my area (Stoney Creek and Hamilton) there were a few. one on Highway 8 and Spartan Ave and one on Centennial Pkwy (Hwy 20) now if there were more places I could totally get some use out of this app, I'm almost always on my bike and I'm very out of shape and need to rehydrate constantly. going up to Grimsby I can go through 3 full water bottles

This app doesn't list every water refill station and doesn't allow users to put their input and add water refill stations. Makes no sense to have an app like this. If they're not going to allow user input then at least do the work and find the water stations.

I live in Rumney, Cardiff and have been told the community hospital in Ilkeston is 1 min walk away. It's actually 163 miles away. I think it would be good if a user could report issues on the App, either when they are wrong or when you've tried to refill and haven't been able to. That way the App can be helped to remain accurate.

good idea, too young to be thorough. shows very few known refill spots. mostly chain restaurants and coffee shops. almost every grocery store in Portland has a filtered water fountain but none show up on this app, for example.

I wanted to like this app but it was useless for my neighborhood. Every listing was a restaurant - none of the many water fountains (or community center/library dedicated refill stations) was listed. You must create a way for your user community to add to your database or this becomes one giant advertisement for large fast food companies and that is REALLY off-putting.

not what I expected. Was looking for free water options, such as drinking fountains in public buldings or parks, water stations like in libraries and community centres etc. Instead it lists restaurants and fast food shops where you usually have to buy something to gain access to water.

This is ridiculous. This just shows all the fast food places that you can get water at. This doesn't give you the actual refill stations for the 5 gallon containers. Not a useful app.

Completely useless! Theres 2 refill stations in my small town. Im thinking of moving so i wanted to know if theres any refill stations 15 minutes away. It didnt even show the 2 refill stations that i KNOW exist.

Great initiative but needs more thought. For example, why can I not add water stations? Surely this user generated approach is a more improved and scalable model?

Love that I can finally bring my reusable water bottle everywhere and not guess about where to refill it. I love the interface and the ability to select what kind of water station I am looking for. Thanks for changing the world.

Almost worthless. there are dozens of drinking fountains all over Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and this app doesn't list any of them, and it doesn't provide a way for users to help build the database.
