Tape Measure
Simply hold the phone at eye level and align the cross hair on the ground at the point you want to measure. The phone will display a continuously updated horizontal distance from the camera to the point under the cross hair.
A one off calibration is required where you need to enter you eye level height i.e. the height from the ground up to your eyes.
The distance is calculated by trigonometry so for accurate measurements you need to always keep the phone at your eye level regardless of the angle of the phone pointing at the ground.
If you always maintain the phone at eye level and hold the phone steady whilst taking a measurement you should be able to get a typical accuracy of about +-3cm at 5m distance.
Now supports imperial measurement feet and inches alongside metric meters and centimeters.

you download the app because you need to measure something. but before you can use it you have to measure the height of your eyes? How exactly do you do that without a tape measure?? Go Figure ? Uninstalling

Useless. It doesn't show the keypad fully when typing in measurements for calibration and crashes when you start. This is on a Galaxy S8plus.
The amount of times I need it, it works ok. If you find a better app let me know
App closes instantly after hitting start. This app does NOT rule, afterall
I had high hopes based on the reviews but it wouldn't run at all on my phone (LG V20 running on Nought). When I hit the start button it crashed every time. Never had the chance to use it because it wouldn't run for me.
