I was able to get a near-accurate measurement of a target even though I never got to see that grid during the surface scan on all attempts.

Not accurate at all !
Accuracy not great, but that might be due to my phone not being high-end enough. Clean app, didn't encounter any ads. Give this a try. I tried other AR ruler apps and they were absolutely infested with ads.
