TaxAct Express

Super easy. Even though they advertised their paid options, they didn't force it on me. Unlike another well known company does. Only took about 20 minutes total. Will use again. Even if I had to pay for it, I would still recommend it. Thank you TaxAct Express! Sorry I was not trying to sound like a commercial. But I was super stressed out because of my experience with TurboTax last year.

Did my taxes on a few different apps this year. This was my 2nd favorite. It made it much easier to find the schedules needed to file correctly (crypto, college, etc.). My favorite for tax prep is Cash App. I did my taxes for FREE! Yes, that is right, even state! AND, it was even easier! With schedules! I was going to file with Taxact but when I tested Cash App-I couldn't beat the price. If you want to pay to do your taxes, use this app, but if you would like to do them FREE-Use Cash App.

Great App. Normally I use TurboTax but this year I used taxact because TurboTax forced me to input data from a state ID which I lost and I couldn't complete the filing process. TurboTax tried to force me to file by mail which I didn't want to do. Taxact didn't force me to input that certain piece of data and the filing process was a success.

It's very frustrating when you download the app and sign up and the first thing you do is try to upload a previous year's tax return and the browse button does nothing. Very frustrating. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work I'll just stick with Turbotax.

The app is glitches and freezes up. It does not allow you to browse to upload prior years taxes. I tried the customer service chat feature and it also does not work.

Software didn't give me a correct amount, Taxact didn't pick up any discrepancy on my return. And now I got a smaller refund than TurboTax. I would NOT be using this app or website again. Called support and wait time was 43000 minutes. 28 days!! Are you kidding me?! Tried to get refund for the inconvenience and they denied it. So here I am now. Stay away if you want to get an accurate refund

The app froze while I was making payment. The money came out of my bank account but didnt post with tax act. So i would have to pay 2x over 300 to get my taxes filed. As it stands I filed a dispute with my bank and it could take up to 90 days to get my money back. Free tax usa isonly 21.95 to file ..💁‍♀️ I will no longer be using tax act.

Really I would give zero stats if I could. Useless company that offers no help. Unless you pay them $80.00 I'm all set with this. I will never use the software again.

This app is so unstable that it is unusable. Navigating away from it in your phone, whether its by hitting the back button, hitting the home screen, or getting a call will cause the app to sign you out and erase all of your progress. This happened to me FOUR TIMES. I was eventually locked out entirely. EDIT: After the devlopers responded and fixed the issue, the app is much more stable. I still get signed out when I exit, but this no longer erases my return. Updated rating from 1 star to 3.

Useless app! It doesnt have a camera mode like it said. You can not just snap your W2 and instantly it fineshes (if so then someone please point it out) it is not an option on the app. I have to start all over MANUALLY because nothing anyone can design anymore is convenient enough for anyone to use with ease. You just know how to make it more difficult as time goes on. I'll just take the time and drive 110 miles and do it the old fashoned way!

Would not recommend. I have used taxact since 2017, but It has gone downhill. I have been trying to file for a few days and it kept crashing over and over, or getting stuck on a loading screen. Gave it a try again today and once again it did not save anything. After re-entering all of my information, it was trying to charge me $35 to file, when it is normally free for me. I decided to try TurboTax and they are not charging me a fee and it has not crashed.

When it worked it was good. The issue i had, and it was enough to turn me away from filing with them is if you accidentally backed too far out and tried to sign back in the verification code was reading as incorrect no matter how many codes they sent me. This occured kn 4 different tries. Enough is enough. It was easy to use once you were in but good luck if you got kicked out.

Absolutely horrible. Used it the last 2 years and it was great but they screwed with it and it's just an absolute nightmare. I turned my phone sideways to get a better keyboard and it signed me out. Then it told me twice that my verification code was wrong. It was not. I quadrupled checked. Oh, and no contact info whatsoever.

I open an account and was halfway typing in all information and suddenly the app close and it made me start again and had to do a whole new username and password because the one I did was not working. Annoying getting a code everything I log in. 🙄

Would give 0 stars if I could. Completed tax return verified my routing account number supposedly the bank rejected it and now they gotta send out a paper check according to email to recieve in 6-8 weeks now but IRS says it still been deposited to my account along with tax act themselves saying it was deposited to my account but there's no money in my account bank verifies there's no pending deposits and here it is a week later after supposedly had been deposited nobody knows where the money is

Horrible company. Horrible app. I had audit protection. Got audited. I had 3 dependants last year. Not according to taxact after accepting her with all required Identification. I say again. Horrible company. Horrible app

Terrible experience. It worked fine until this year! I used it for the last 3 years and now that I'm doing this year's taxes, I can't get in to my account. Tried changing my password and it won't let me in with the new credentials (did this a few times). I just want to access my old returns. I'll never be using this service again though. I can't even get support for this issue. Terrible app and worse customer service/support.

DO NOT USE even if you have some super great deal. App / programs itself was letdown but larger issue is that you cannot delete account once created. Official answer is to remove any data and file in false info for personal data is best you can do. Does not appear to be deactivate account option anymore even. Regardless, once information is there, just became you delete it, does not mean they have not already mined all the valuable information. Horrible.

Gets the job done but its buggy. First off it wont allow you to not file a state return even in states that have no income tax. And also if it carries over info from the prior year, the direct deposit info cannot be changed without starting a return. And to save a pdf copy of your returns takes some doing, it's not straight forward and it should be. It's free though and gets the job done.

Been using Taxact over 10 years. The app is no longer available in the app store and there is no update available for the one I have downloaded. Taxact site is still available on PC and worked perfectly. Wish it was still 100% FREE!

Absolute RIP Off!!!!!!!!! They keep adding charges as you go or you can't file. Says free in beginning but close to end, they were showing charges of $77.82 Past 4yrs it has always been free. Not anymore! I can go to tax preparer in town and have done a lot cheaper. I called around. Glad I didn't finalize. Never again with Tax Act!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that my first time Tax Act experience was excellent! It took time but that was because of a mistake I made and they have great customer service. My agent went above & beyond to help me! Because I procrastinated and waited until the last week I had to wait maybe 10 minutes on hold for a customer service rep, but I suspect it would have been a lot quicker had I done them earlier. Because what an amazing young man I had to help me :-) ✨✨

The worst customer service ever. My state refund got rejected I called for assistance on how to file it properly and I was put on hold for 20 min until they just hung up. I have requested many call backs and no one ever calls. I spoke to someone once and she was just rude was of no assistance whatsoever. What's the point of customer service I'd you guys can't provide it. So now I have to go find a tax preparer elsewhere to help fix this .

Absolutely not free to file. I used TaxAct last year and only payed $14.95 to file the state form and filing the federal form was free. This year, while completeing the federal form, I was asked to agree to a fee three times (for a total of $89.95) and could not continue unless I did. I file the 1040 and do not itemize so I assumed when I got to the end I would have the option to file federal free and pay the small fee for state like last year. Not the case. Classic bait and switch.

awful app!!!! you can't even fill in the boxes that are not immediately under your name. I still have to file on a computer, unless I use a totally different tax program, like Turbotax. Thank you for making sure I don't use your site for filling this year.

Ive been using TaxAct for almost 10 yrs but first time trying to use the app, haven't changed my login info since last filing but keep being told wrong info, have checked my notes&they are correct but have tried resetting password 3x now with absolutely no success. Very very frustrating as I've been unemployed for almost 9 months & didn't receive second stimulus money so filing this return is absolutely crucial for me right now & unable to even get into the app. Only time I've ever had trouble

Completely worthless. Long waits between screens. Terrible quality of photo uploading for w2's. As well as being kicked off every few minutes and having to start all over again. Don't waist your time.

The app is terrible. The website is much better. The app froze my phone completely several times. The information I entered wouldn't save and taking a pic of my W2 was a nightmare. TaxAct website works fine but the app is awful. I ended up using the website after an hour. Huge waste of time.
