Hreyfill Taxi receives orders in the Reykjavik and Reykjanes area.
The app automatically finds your current location with the Smartphone GPS.
You can pre-book up to one week in advance.
You can also indicate whether you want a regular-sized taxi or if you have excess baggage, you can order a larger taxi.
If you enter your phone number, the driver can send you SMS notifying when the taxi arrives.

The app is fairly easy to use and I use it daily. What annoys me is how some of their drivers treat their regulars like first time tourists. Don't get me wrong, some of them are absolute legends. But I'd say two thirds are trying to overcharge you. I find it strange that when I order a car to the same location each day, 3 out of 5 times the drivers go the wrong way, even with precise instructions. The final cheek is they blame you for it and have already started the meter at the wrong address.
Gets the job done. Downloaded it the night before I needed a taxi. The taxi showed up a few minutes before the scheduled 6:30 pickup. Note that the phone number input box doesn't want to take "+1" for the country code, but things worked out anyway.
Tried to download again. Playstore now mark this application as "Old". Keeps asking to enable GPS even though GPS is enabled. Not possible to input Favorable addresses.....
ordered a car through the system, and after 20 minutes I cancelled the car and walked. system still said "looking for car in system" should have found a car a while ago and the car should have arrived in 10min.. and the user interface is just really bad.
Horrid app, don't even bother. 5 stars are lies. The app didn't work and was horrid. The drivers are the only reason I'm giving more than a 1 star because they were all great. Takes a million years to find you, you'd ever be lucky if they did find you.
For some reason it requires access to my files and cannot save my phone number so i need to enter it each time. First driver i got.with this went next door and immediatly started running the meter.
this App only works if you enter a local number. i tried to book with my German number and it was just not possible. how disappointing
Buggy and badly designed, but works most of the time once you've gotten around the bad design.
No way to log in if the password is forgotten - why does this say (old)? Where is the "new"?
Basic location functions are such a terrible UX it feels like they are broken

Very basic but works. Using Android OnePlus 7 with Icelandic phone number.
Works OK for requesting a taxi now, even as a foreigner. App does not handle overseas phone numbers, and scheduling a taxi 30 minutes ahead of time was a complete failure. Dispatchers speak English, so you may be better off just clicking the "Call" button.
It is a great way to order your taxi, it comes on times, the notifications are great. Maybe have an option pf inserting an international phone number or an email address without having to create an account.
Since app updated it crashes. Won't open on galaxy s8. Before that it was great
Used this app to pre-book a very early morning taxi from Reykjavik to Keflavik Airport and it worked perfectly.
Very easy to use. I wish the had a confirmation alert rather than just showing booking is in the system.

The app works and the taxi arrived very quickly. I found it hard to find the BSI terminal on the app which I'm guessing is a very popular pick up point? Would be good to put key locations in to choose from if needed. Also, wouldnt let me continue without a mobile and I don't have an Icelandic mobile number so had to use a friend's. Please add option to add foreign numbers!
