Perfect for quick balance checks and check deposits have improved a lot. Sometimes a little tricky to find exactly the piece of info you are looking for. The first few times I tried seeing more transaction history I couldn't figure it out. Same with statements at first. It kind of took quite a bit of poking around...it isn't completely obvious or intuitive.

The new update is very frustrating. All black text makes it difficult to distinguish between incoming and outgoing money. Very little customizability within the app. Slow to log in and access accounts. I don't like the quick glance feature as it requires no password to access account balances and transactions, however, I have had to turn it on to avoid the waiting period for accounts to load.

The odds that this app can actually successfully deposit a mobile check are about one in fifty for me, and that's the only reason I want or need it, making it nearly worthless to me and a gamble every time I use it. I've followed all of the directions provided, taking the photos in a brightly lit room against a matte black background. All to no avail.

The new update on January 2020 is a step backward. Prior to this update the app was efficient, things were located where you'd expect them to be, and they met my needs as a user. This new update is none of those things... functions are not where you'd expect, it's difficult to navigate, and the things I use is not easily accessible. Hopefully the developers take note & bring back the efficient and intuitive features. On a positive, it's pretty... But what good is that if it's not easy to use.

I see a ton of bad reviews. I personally have never had any issues with the app. It really is a huge convenience for me not to have to physically go into the bank or call the automated number for some of the day to day services. My only small complaint would be is the lack of free transfer options to friends and family members that have an account with TCF without a fee, or being able to pay bills without incurring such a large fee. Other than that fantastic app! Keep it up👍

I love it! It's amazing! I couldn't live without it. I only have one negative concern. When your in your account transactions and you've scrolled down to (SEE MORE) and have done that twice and see a transaction you need to inquire on you select it and that's it. There's no going back without starting over and scrolling and scrolling and checking to find out where you left off. It's very frustrating as neither (BACK) options actually bring you BACK to where you left off.

Great, but issues exist. Off the top of my head: -Sometimes latest pending transactions don't show up in app, yet I'm able to see them in Mint app. -There's no warning that you won't be able to transfer between accounts if they are down for maintenance or whatever. Instead they have you waste your time filling out the app form and then throw an error page at you.

This app almost never loads. I've tried it with wifi , without wifi , exiting the app & reopening. Still the same issue. The app is nearly useless for me due to these bugs. When it actually does work, it is completely user friendly. But the point of me downloading the app was for its convenience. I don't really have time, nor patience to actually call to speak with a tcf rep to do a simple transfer .

It's a little dated as far as the user interface. I can't make any changes because it won't send the verification code to my email address to confirm my identity. I've tried resending the code, I've checked my spam and trash folders. I am just gridlocked. The teller set my email as my preferred form of contact so I can't do anything without confirming my email. This is too much foolishness for an app that's supposed to make banking easier.

3 starts only because it's nice TCF has an app. It rarely ever works to scan the back of a check, so you just wait awhile then just do manually. The option to always choose right away to take the picture manually of both sides would solve this. Also, access to multiple account logins with fingerprint, not just one. Two nice additions would be to allow for adding multiple checks to one account in a row without having to back to the main screen. Also, don't limit # of checks, just dollar amount.

Doesn't actually allow mobile deposit, which is the only reason I installed it. The button for deposits in the images doesn't appear in the actual app. Also apparently no way to contact the bank for help. Terrible UI. EDIT: If mobile deposit isn't allowed overseas, then it should say so in the app. Honestly, the more I use this app, the more irritating I find it. It's just terrible compared to my other banking apps. This was the last straw that is making me close my TCF accounts.

App won't load & keeps giving an error message/ asking to exit or retry. Retrying doesn't work. Doesn't need to be updated. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. I see that their response to anyone in the past month who've had trouble was to switch from wifi to data or data to wifi. I only have data. What's the point of a mobile app you can only use on wifi? So now I'm left the impossible task of not being able to access my account. I can't pay bills. I can't transfer money. Not ok.

I used to have no problems with this app, but recently they did an update where everything now starts with "ckcd debit", "ach credit", "ach debit", "Visa authorization", "visa purchase" rather than the way it used to clearly be labeled "Venmo", "Kroger", etc. It is so unnecessarily difficult to review your purchases to make sure there's no fraud, you have to click every item to see what it is and it always redirects you to the top of the list! You can't even click on pending items to do this. 😡

This app used to work... pretty good. But not now. Every time I open the quick glance on the app it data syncs at least 3 times, before showing my balance. Why? It's been doing this for some time now, and you've certainly had ample time to get it fixed. Plus why do transactions take so long to get out of the pending phase. Even my deposits seem to take more time.

Hardly ever works. Had to turn my font to the smallest size just to use it. I am old and don't see well so this is a problem. Tonight once again it won't even load. The old app was fine just not as modern looking. Wasn't looking for modern looking was looking for something that worked. 04-27-20 once again app not working. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no effect. Of course it's after hours and so I cannot get any assistance or ask anyone what's going on. I always just worry I've been hacked

It's slow and the balances are unreliable. It can take a few days sometimes before transactions or withdrawals actually show up on the app. The mobile deposit feature is also subpar and works only in the best light. It's very inconvenient. There are better banks out there. There has to be.

Getting Better- each update improves the app. Here's my wish list - I want the bill pay functionality improved to allow more reports, control features (like subtotal by date ranges, quick entry and editing), and a complete section with instructions. I have had to go to the branch to get help on the system. They have a slightly more detailed info, but not enough. For example, how does the budget feature work? Finally, I need a better budgeting tool and checkbook balancing assistant.

It's a bare-bones banking app. Supposedly it has mobile check deposit (something competitors have had for YEARS), but there's no such feature that I can find, at least on my Pixel 3. If that's a model-specific thing, that's also a huge problem, because it's unacceptable for a bank's app to not support flagship phones. It's an improvement over TCF's first attempt at an app, but it's still poorly-designed and insufficiently-maintained.

Decent. it's worked just fine on multiple phones I've read some people have issues with the mobile deposit but I've never tried it myself. only issue I've ever had with the app is when they changed their website. otherwise it's worked just fine for checking my account and transferring from checking to savings.

Mobile deposit doesn't work!! I've been using this app for many years and have never ever been able to successfully do a mobile deposit. I have the latest phone so the issue isn't my phone. I've tried multiple time with different lighting and dark backgrounds and still no success. Doesn't matter the amount of the check or what kind of check, it simply doesn't work.

Very happy with this app! It is easy to navigate and I love the fingerprint sign in option. The only thing I find counterintuitive is when doing transfers, you choose the "to account" before the "from account." I have gotten used to it I just find it counterintuitive.

Works fine for most things. Completely unable to use mobile deposit. I have an app from my credit union that works perfectly. It shows you the bitmap that will be sent, lets you take the pictures one at a time, and doesn't keep turning on the light for you.

no problems using transfers tab as have used several times, like the quick glance feature also to be able to just check balances without having to go all into account! I'm handicapped and it helps me save going into bank as my breathing is not great, I've been able to make deposits with checks I have received by taking pictures of the checks thats a big plus fron driving to bank going in! Overall very satisfied with the features of TCF.

The app functions well for checking your balance. However, when I overdrafted my account, they didn't notify me via the app, or even text message, automated phone message or email. Instead they automatically sent a SNAIL MAIL letter, ensuring that it would take 3 more days before I was informed, resulting in an additional $185 in fees. When I called, they reversed $100 in fees, and confirmed that they will email you if a card is declined, but refuse to send any notification EXCEPT snail mail for overdraft. If I'm going to have a bank's smartphone app on my phone, I expect it to at least send push notifications of critical problems rather than going to the slowest available communication method.

I don't like the fact that my balance doesn't show. I pay bills etc online and it doesn't show that its been taken out of my account. So looks like I have to either make a phone call Monday to check my balance, or go to the bank. Pretty inconvenient for me. "Edited 9/21/2020", balance is showing the amount as of today. So I was wrong, though it does take longer then usual, from my experience. Do like this app alot better now, so changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars.
