Can't log in: I get timeout every time I try Edit: now I got to log in. The mobile version is ridiculous. The most useful feature of web version, which is topics, is unavailable. Also when you search you don't get results filtered by availability: the best searched article isn't from last year? You get prompted to upgrade subscription. I thought MIT Tech Review should have at least reasonable app given their overall status. The app is just poor money-grabbing scheme.
Like others said, the app always timed out before I could see any content. I'd love to be able to use this app because mobile is my favorite way to consume magazine articles. I truly don't understand how one of the best tech institutions on the face of the planet can't find a competent Android programmer---especially when, judging by the reviews, they seem to have iOS mastered.
At first I was wondering why the app has such bad reviews; it looks slick, I can log in, and even download the latest issue without a hitch. BUT as i tried to read the articles the text never appeared, with text kind of being the point of a magazine reading app. Do they even test this before releasing?
Trying to buy a subscription but I get an error on my Pixel 3 device saying it can't reach the server. I'll update my rating if I anything changes. I like reading MIT articles and was pleased to see an app come online (going to the site was not optimal). I hope they work out this bug soon.
The app simply wouldn't open on my Android Chromebook, I tried installing it twice. It looks like other people have had similar problems. I would expect better from a tech publication.
Great magazine, app could definitely be improved. Would love to see some notification capabilities to the app, whether when new issues become available, or when new articles are posted.
App has serious issues. Stuck in some sort of quasi-logged in state. Only 3 digital issues from this year displayed. Menu is bugged. Needs a lot of work.
I haven't been able to purchase the 12 month subscription. The app is showing error for the past three months whenever I click on purchasing option. I live in India. Please fix
I paid through Google the same price as subscribing directly on the magazine webpage and can't have access to the articles in it or the newsletters. Really disappointed of not getting the same deal for exactly the same money!
After the last update I get an error message every time I open the app. Uninstalled it twice and still have the same issue seems to be a migration issue according to the error message
I have a Premium subscription. I've logged into my account in the app. It's asking me to pay $10 to read this month's issue. My subscription doesn't expire for another 4 months. This app is so broken.
Error could have been resolved by settings -> apps & notifications -> apps -> tech review -> storage -> clear data and clear cache. Still being a good short cut app for MIT Technology Review.
High quality science commentary from the journalists at MIT. I always make time for this every 2 months. The format is clean and colorful, like having a magazine on your phone.
The articles are great, but the application is very often closing for no reason when you try to open an article.
Easier way to carry your high end reading materials with you and to keep up to date on the latest important science.
The bug can easily be solved just updating it. Go to app store, look up tech review and you can update. Once done it opens smoothly.
Being the media front of the world premier MIT, one of the minimal feature that this app can have is allowing payment for subscription to be facilitated through at least additional Google Play or Paypal instead of just credit card.
This is a very badly made app. Functionlities, navigation, UX, everything is broken and has bugs.
This app makes me question whether MIT actually knows anything about how to get IT to work. You need to uninstall it and install it every time you want to read an article.
This app is literally unusable. Keeps throwing buying options even when i have the subscription. This needs to get fixed.

Crashed a few days ago. Uninstall and reinstall generates the same error. Would like my subscription refunded please.
The app times out. It doesn't let log in. It is an absolute failure from a tech review. The irony is too much.
Doesn't work. Say they need to confirm with text to phone, but app won't accept phone number for code to be sent!
Initial use results in timeouts, delays but keep trying and it eventually works fine.
Love Tech Review so much for journalistic integrity and thought-provoking content. Really hope they get the app bug fixed asap.
App doesn't start up. Instead an error message regarding a migration issue appears.
Everything works fine for me, I don't know what all the negative reviews are for. The app is designed to read the issues if you already have a subscription to the Tech Review.
I love the articles, they are very interesting and well written, and I would definitely recommend subscribing. However, the app is a bit akward. The home screen displays magazine issues that change only six times a year, and going to the website is more convenient for frequently reading updates. Web articles are accessed via a menu and offer no way to return to previous articles. Great reporting, but the app needs work.
