Tello

I got the drone as a Christmas present and i love it. The app is pretty good, though i would love to see a small few changes made to it. 1. A small button to toggle between fast/slow mode. 2. Maybe a list of the 3 most used maneuvers; bounce, spin, etc 3. If there was a way to alter the speeds or turn rates of some of the maneuvers; Bar those, i think its really nice. If you are a programmer you will have great fun creating an application to communicate with it.

The app is easy to use and relatively straightforward. However, as many have stated, the video doesn't work on all phones (my Pocophone included). This might be a simple codec issue as the TelloFPV app works with video. Anyhow, 3 stars for a mostly functional app, 2 lost because video doesn't work. If you experience the same, try out other apps before giving up.

Pretty frustrating. Pairing with drone only works if you stop the app, turn on airplane mode, then pair to the drone wifi then open the app. It wants a firmware update, but the update gets stuck at zero everytime. My Bluetooth controller is paired with the device, but does not show up in the settings and there's no way to use it. I've spent considerably more time fiddling with the app than flying the drone, but once connected to the drone (without the controller) it's decent

An okay app if you only want to control the drone with the phone. The video feed is VERY glitchy on the Note 9, and while the company responded, it was a "don't worry, it will be updated" response. When will this be fixed? I'm just twiddling my thumbs when seeing that it really defeats the purpose of buying the drone to record videos and pictures if the feed is glitchy. In short, make sure the app fully works for what you want. If not, turn away, for there are better apps out there.

You can't really give this anymore than 1 star at the moment. The app crashes on loading on Android 10 using the Pixel 4XL. Looking at the reviews it's fairly standard issue... I have managed to get hold of a beta version of the new release so I can use the drone but you have to contact the Devs to get it. Disappointing that it's not been updated on the play store though... Android 10 has been out for months and it really wasn't that hard to update older apps to the new version. I know, I did it

Great controls, great live video feed from the drone, and nice how it warns you if you have low drone battery. Good choice using Wifi instead of Bluetooth, as Wifi has a much longer range. A recommendation would be a return-to-owner button. It can get annoying how every time you go out of the app you have to setup your settings again, but doesn't bother me as I use default settings. Also happy to know they are constantly making firmware updates.

I've had my tello for a while. Quit using it for a while because of the frame skip it used to have. Decided it would break it out again. New firmware took out the frame skip but it still doesn't take pictures without the grey lines (this is on my old note 8). On my new note 9 you can forget it no photo it's just green lines and the video quality is really bad. I hope they can fix this soon I really like this drone but the video issue is a real problem.

Samsung Note 9. It's just ok. Works alright, connects to the drone, flies with on screen touch controls. Growing up playing video games, I knew I could have more control over it with my Xbox controller, but I never could get it to connect (connects to my phone ok, just not the APP). Tried "Tello FPV" (demo) instead, it connected to my Xbox controller just fine and it's pretty customizable. You need the $6 version for full functionality, but the free demo allows you to test your setup beforehand.

Does not work with Android 10. After contacting support, it does seem like maybe possibly they are working on it, but I wouldn't hold my breath, considering how long people have been complaining now. That being said, I was able to get the drone flying with an old iPhone, and it's great. Was also able to get it going with a third-party app.

when it works it's good but i tried to connect from a second phone and it will no longer connect to the first one (samsung s7 and a6). reset to factory defaults, forgotten networks, uninstalled and reinstalled apps, cleared cache. simply won't connect. also doesn't do video on Samsung galaxy s4. tello itself is amazing ... fixing glitchy software / connections is essential though. would also be good if there was a sleeker Wi-Fi connection routine.

Very good app on my Note 8. Clear pics and vids with minimal drops on the live feed. Controls can be slightly delayed if there is heavy interference on the 2.4 GHz bands. Use it in a large indoor space or outside on a relatively calm day and you'll have lots of fun. The app does need to allow the use of any Bluetooth controller and they could include a disclaimer that they only guarantee their recommended one to work. If that happens the app has a chance at 5 stars.

I have a Galaxy s8 and the app doesn't work with the Tello. The video shows a black screen and the device doesn't connect to the phone. I uninstalled the app a few times and still no luck, this seems like an ongoing issue after reading some of the reviews. Like a few other people said, this drone is useless if it can't connect it to my phone. I hope this issue get resolved ASAP or I will have to return the drone.

There are Major flaws in the app. 1) Everytime you open the app, there is like 5 seconds of animation. Please reduce the time. 2)It always starts up in photo mode. It also does not save the bit rate settings. 3)There is a waste of controller buttons. Please map the controller so 1 button performs 1 function, not two for one. There are 12 buttons but only 5 functions. I do not need 2 buttons to switch between video and photo mode. 5) Where did the battery percentage go?

This is a basic app for the Tello, The Tello FPV app is the only way to get the best out of your Tello, it has better controls, 360 degrees, return home, flips (all directions), and others that I've not used yet, but yes it does cost for the app, they offer a demo of the app for free, so if you're not sure what to do, I suggest that you download the demo and play with it and then you can decide if you want to pay for the better controls or use this app! I love the Tello FPV, but should be free!

This app is very hit and miss and im experiencing a different problem each time i use it . Currently it wont show an image on my phone screen which i suppose is an improvement over yesterday when i couldnt get it to connect to my Tello . Honestly im about ready to throw the tello away and delete the app . All the hype over the tello is obviously put out by them because although it definately seems to fly well when it does work , it doesnt work properly at least 60 percent of the time . That 40 percent keeps it out of the landfill .

Don't bother downloading this app. Just pay the £4.89 for the other one. It does all the same stuff and works a lot easier. I had an issue where the video from this app wasn't saving. Apparently it was because my device wasn't compatible. Their suggestion was using a different mobile device. The other app worked first time, no issues.

My drone stopped working after 3 flights. The app looks fine, but the control is not highly accurate. Do you collect the photos and videos taken by users? (I don't see any setting to enable or disable that option, so I'd like to have confirmation from you). Thanks!

While flying the Tello at about 30 ft away, it decides to land by itself without warning. I got a glimpse of the screen while trying to bring it back to me but it goes straight into the pond. The screen showed almost full battery at the time and would not respond to my app controller when it dove in the water by itself. I've flown this Tello for about 3 months before this happened. Waste of money.

Good with older phones I have a Galaxy Note 9. The app works but in photo mode I only see green static. However if I actually take a picture the picture is clear. Conversally, in video mode I can see the live feed from the drone clearly. However, if I actually record anything there are green bars through the image and terrible ghosting of the image. I did try the app with my old Note 5 and it works perfectly on that phone.

This application doesn't work on OnePlus 6 with the latest Android 10. The application itself is too overcomplicated and didn't comfortable in use. The are few current issues: 1. Smartphone connects very bad to drone Wi-Fi - only 1 attempt from 10 is successful. All other times it just blinks fast with orange light like it lose connection with smartphone. 2. Airborne and landing menus are very overcomplicated. Airborne slider doesn't need as well - drone should take off immediately. Landing button should immediately land drone without any popup menus. Also there shouldn't be any confirmation dialogs "OK - Cancel" in Flying Mode menus. At least move this option to settings - something like "Confirm all the actions". Once Androind 10 compatibility and all other issues I've enlisted will be fixed - I'll update my feedback.

App was glitchy at best up until the Android 10 update came through. Now it doesn't even open. Beta for the OS has been out for months and there has been zero attempt to ensure compatibility. The Iron man version app opens fine but they clearly have the ability to fix the app but just can't be bothered to. If you want to have a drone paperweight this is the drone for you...

Seems to be some stability and connectivity issues with the app when running on a one plus 5T and latest android OS. - App connects to drone without video feed. - App crashes and becomes completely unresponsive whilst flying drone. Only way to fix the above seems to be either turning off wifi on phone and reconnecting. or just closibf and restarting the app or power cycling the drone several times over until it works. Such a shame as when app works the drone is amazing! Fix the app please!

Firstly had problems with app not opening after phone update... contacted manufacturer and they were very quick to respond. All sorted with new app, and all going again. Very pleased with the response and service. Worth while getting hold of them. They gave me a link to download an installation file that actually works - unlike this one on google play.

On my Android tablet App will not work anymore. Said something about a software bug bug sometimes when trying to open app. Suspect it's incompatible with the latest update Is for android. It does work on my phone app. Very disappointed I can no longer operate the drone

Basic flight app. The absolute dumbest center of gravity calibration. When the drive isn't flying well you have to have it take off and then navigate the menu to select the calibrate. You have no ability to control the drone while it calibrated. This is such a profoundly stupid interface. There is no dumber way to do it.

Does not work with XBox controllers for some reason but a 3rd party app (TelloFPV) works perfectly fine with it. Please fix this or allow us to map the drone control to arbitrary buttons and keys! Also consider having a way to change the distance between the two screens in VR mode. I see double when using my Gear VR with this app in VR mode.

The controls are good Ill give you that, The landing is HORRIBLE, why chose such a design? I was testing the drone indoors and since I'm new to the control I can see it going towards a wall. There is no easy way to land it! You have to push 10 buttons to make it land. WHY??? Make it simple (Land or Kill engine). Also another thing I noticed was the landing when battery is critically low. I saw the notification on my phone, so as the drone started to descend i wanted to catch it before it hit something. All control FROZE on my phone no mater what buttons I pushed it kept saying battery low auto-landing activated. Luckily I was quick enough to catch it in my hand but it kept on spinning the propellers. So I had to wait until it went into a full stop. WHY?

Doesn't work for for every phone. I initially installed this on my realme 5pro cellphone and while this works fine as a controller, live camera feed is non existent. I have to use my samsung phone to have everything function well. Also, honestly this is subjective but the UI for this app looks kinda cheap, though it still flies my drone so I don't mind. I really hope that there's some sort of tutorial though.
