It can be very frustrating at times. Yet again I went to add another slot to my deliveries, but instead, & unbeknown to me, it changed my next slot instead! I was then left with no delivery slot for next week! This isn't the first time it's happened. Plus you have to navigate through a lot of screens to make alterations & as stated above, sometimes it just does its own thing, & you don't find out until it's too late.
Have used for years and generally very comfortable with how it works but 2 issues. 1) if the screen times out, or I look at a different app, the list of favourites I'm working down reverts to the top. 2) when I search it used to list my favourite items at the top of the results list and now it doesn't. Both these things make it more time consuming to find the things I want.
Great, easy to use app. Search isn't always accurate and I hate the way that if you leave the app at any time whilst shopping from your favourites list, it jumps you back to the start of this list when you return to the app. So annoying! I would like to search favourites by category and for personal shopping lists to be reintroduced. There are too many screens to go through at checkout, especially when amending your shopping. Text too big in favourites, therefore, too much scrolling to do
A Good way to shop Tesco's. The App is much quicker than the website. Makes regular shopping easy, using a favourites list. Clubcard vouchers visible so you don't miss them. Note: the item price when you order may not be the price you pay at time of collection/delivery. This is particularly irritating when ordering what you consider a good discounted price, and it reverts to full price when you pay for it.
The app is great apart from that you have to click through loads of screens (5? 6?)every time you amend your order. It didn't used to be like this. I shop by adding things as I think of them during the week, often one thing at a time, so it's really annoying to have to wade through loads of promo screens and then enter your security code every single time I add something. It's often made me think of switching supermarket, the result being that often i just don't bother adding stuff to my order.
Classic case of the devs not using the service. If I'm browsing my long list of favourites and the app loses focus at all (which can happen if the phone goes to sleep or I read a WhatApp message), I get dumped back at the top of the favourites list. Getting back to the right place is a very frustrating process. (Also, long press to remove items from favourites, please.) Fortunately, everything else works just fine. Unfortunately, browsing favourites is what you spend most of your time doing!
I like the app but I wish the list of favourites could be accessed in an easier way.... when you want to get back to the place where you were it can take a minute or two just to scroll through all the items to get there....you have to wait for the next bunch of items to load, rather than just scroll through without any hold ups. If you have a long list of favourites then it can be very inconvenient, especially if you lose your place by going away from the page accidentally.
Really easy to use and if you have a club card then the favourites options saves searching. A few issues with app offers, several times I've had to ring to get them added as it doesn't accept the code. And I'm puzzled as to why if I buy a product once, it is added to my favourites. Surely trying a product out once is not a favourite. So regularly I have to go to the tesco website on a browser and filter out something I tried and never want to buy again. But on the whole it's easy to use.
Not great functionality. On this app, you can't do all the things that you can do on the web page, for example you can't select a "substitute all" option for your shop, instead having to tick every item. This is irritating, as it means I have to go on the Web page every order, to select it. It also doesn't allow you to edit your favourites list, or look at "rest of shelf" for items.
I choose my supermarket on the basis of the strength of the app. This app is almost perfect. My only gripe is that the favourites list doesn't remain cached in local memory if focus is lost to another app on the device. On returning to the app, you have to scroll down from the top again waiting for batches of images to download. My favourites has well over 500 items, so this is really irritating.
Well linked up infrastructure. Easy to navigate. Very helpful club card deal reminders at checkout point. Takes as long to do this as a normal shop so consider if in the filters bit , there was a list of all suppliers selling that particular product. Presently typing in the "Q" bit is far preferable to scrolling through the whole category to finally find " my preferred brand" when looking for something I don't normally purchase. Mainly, you've done such a great job with this way of shopping.
Generally a very decent, well thought-out app. Payments work, it is stable, shopping is mostly a breeze. Very convenient to make quick changes on the go. NAGS: changes made to the search section: it used to keep your last few searches, but they disappear (although there seems to be some convoluted way of finding them). Shame, coz they tend to be much of the same most of the time. Picking up Clubcard points is still awkward. Be nice if one could 'kill' favs by long-pressing the 🧡. Good 4.5* App!
Generally a great app which has improved over the years I've been using it. Not sure why people think you can't remove things from "favourites". It would be great if any notes on substitutions were retained for future shops rather than having to enter them every time. Agree it is annoying that if you leave the app or screen goes to sleep mid-shop you are taken back to the top of favourites list. Ability to use favourites when creating an in-store shopping list would be good.
What is with the black text on a purple background when there's some sort of notification about a product? I can't see what the text says! If you're going to make a dark background you have to turn the text white so people can actually read it. The old black on yellow was perfect and provided good visual contrast. Now I have no idea what the messages actually say without straining my eyes.
What I find very handy is that if an item isn't available, you can click onto 'rest of the shelf' to choose an alternative option. By doing this, you often find an item that you never normally would have thought of buying before!! Plus, this gives you a chance to check out the different prices! But what I love the most is, before you checkout, if you check your shopping and delete an item by mistake, you can retrieve that item straight back again! This is a great new handy option! 😃👍
Easy to use. One very annoying thing is that offers (in yellow background) are not readable on mobile. They show only the first few words. Meal deal: £8 for .... And it's not possible to know what's needed to match the deal. Favourites are automatically added as we shop, but it's a real pain to remove them once added.
Is there anything more frustrating in an app or website than one that reverts you back to the beginning, each time you pop in & out of the app/website? This happens in the favourites list, even when the app continues to be open in the background. Until this is resolved, the experience is far from frictionless.
annoying forced update just when I want to check & edit tomorrow's order! mostly stable. search for eg vegan food doesn't bring up all available. no obvs way to save favourites. no autofill billing address. when checking out, the interface with bank/credit card provider can be really glitchy - payment won't go thru without verification every time, but that part of the process isn't working reliably. very annoying, tedious and time consuming.
The site has recently gone downhill. Not happy. It would be great if the product quantities were updated regularly. Also when scrolling down certain lists, e.g. meal deals, as I'm looking the list suddenly jumps back to near the top of the list, so you can't find certain products. It no longer tells you if you've missed out on an offer, e.e. meal deals or 3 for 2 offers. This DOES NOT HELP YOUR CONSUMER to save money.
In 2 years it's never let me down or failed. No longer do shopping lists, just open up the app and add things as i need them. Plus less wastage and i spend less on food i dont need, busgeting is easy, it lets me know if things i buy are on offer so i can take advantage. Favourites/things i buy regularly could be merged and i wish i had control, i.e. choose what to add and remove, plus make it quicker/easier to delete items. My favourites is now so huge it defeats the object
Shopping apps can be a pain to get used to at first. I started using the Tesco app when the pandemic started, before then I shopped at the Sainsbury's supermarket. Like for many, it was easier for me to get food delivered than to get into a supermarket. I tried competitor apps and they were equally as frustrating to get used to. I stuck with Tesco because they nearly always had what I needed and I could always get a slot. I find the app great to use, prices are competitive. Thank you Tesco!
It does its job, just about. Search filters and terrible - they don't actually perform filter as expected (the related items in the single search results often match the same criteria), and its very vague. Lack of product reviews is frustrating. Checking out takes too many steps. Generally not great but it does the job.
It's been a number of months now, and things have improved, but there is still much room for improvement. One thing that drives me crazy is not having the prices of individual items available after checkout without going and either starting a fresh order or doing a product browse; why is it so hard to display the individual prices when you are shown the summary. After all, you see which items you have purchased, just not how much they cost individually.
really easy to use, great interface. only reason it's not 5 is you cant remove things from the favourite list?!?!?!? Still can't remove thing from favourites 2 year since I first reviewed... but now you can't add them either and the favourite list is random items from your old order... I only ordered bouncy balls once 2 years ago and there they are at the top of the list each week!?
Generally speaking this app works well, but it is unsophisticated in some ways. For example, you can't edit your own favourites. Nor can you create your own lists if you're doing shopping for others during lockdown, so your favourites are one long list of everything you have bought for everyone with no ability to edit. Also, you have to retype same notes every shop.
One of the better supermarket shopping apps. The search is a bit naff as it will bring up results that have absolutely nothing to do with what you have searched for. Also, it is annoying when it takes you right back to the beginning of your favourites list if the screen goes to sleep or you delete an item(s), otherwise it might have got 5 stars.
