It's just a shortcut but it's practical and - almost surprisingly given the state of the android market - doesn't come with any ludicrous permissions. App icon could be larger and nicer for bigger screens (Galaxy Nexus) but on the other hand... this IS a settings shortcut, haha
I have legal tethering free from T-Mobile with 5 :-). Data plan(no longer free but grandfathered). Haven't used it much until I installed this app. Turned a 5 step process with scrolling into 2 direct steps - hit the icon tap the box to turn on. Makes it almost as easy as turning on WiFi. This WILL NOT allow you to tether without carrier data fees it only switches on what it's already in the android menu.
Fixed a glaring omission in the Android OS. Will save me a lot of time over time! Like that the icon is co-ordinated visually with Android's tether symbol. One enhancement would be for the app to directly toggle tethering on/off - ie, bypassing the tether menu altogether. Working on Xperia Pro. Thanks!
WTF! I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MY WIRELESS REPRESENTATIVE, AND SHE TOLD ME THAT USING THIS APP DETECTS THAT IT'S USING A MY MOBILE HOTSPOT, AND NOT MY MOBILE DATA! FIX THIS PROBLEM! I DONT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE! IT'S A GOOD THING I DIDN'T DEACTIVATE MY MOBILE HOTSPOT, OTHER WISE I WOULD BE PAYING MORE MONEY IF I DIDN'T HAVE MY MOBILE HOTSPOT ACTIVE. WHY HAVE THIS ON THE ANDROID MARKETPLACE IF YOU FOLKS ARE JUST OBVIOUS FOR THE WIRELESS COMPANY TO DETECT, NOW I HAVE LESS THAN A 1G ON MOBILE HOTSPOT!
Perfect Does exactly as it says. To the fellow that freaked out, it's not possible. This app doesn't turn anything on. Just takes you to the window that does.
Yet so useful. I like the fact that the icon is small and minimalistic. It does not get in the way but is there when I need it. Agreed as well about not being permission hungry just for a shortcut.
Does what it claims, but ugly icon. You can see white on the corners... The transparency needs to be improved.
I've got an HTC desire and it works great I'm on payg with unlimeted data not sure what happens if your on a contract
Does exactly what it says it will, no more and no less. Makes it easy to turn on the portable hotspot on my Tmobile G2 so I can take advantage of the free tethering and unlimited data to use with my Nexus 7.
Please provide a better higher resolution and bigger app icon, on nexus 5 it looks nasty :-(
Cuts down on the tapping to get to the menus which are getting nested deeper and deeper with every new platform release.
All I was after, simple short cut to my tethering, works perfectly and requires no special permissions. Thanks
Don't know why you can't just do this through the OS, but you can't. This does exactly what I wanted it to. Glad that it doesn't request any permissions and is a nice simple small app. Thanks!
Simple Tethering shortcut pointed direct to Tethering And Portable Hotspot menu in settings. 2 click needed. Saves lot of time! Thanks!
This is EXACTLY what I wanted. No funky permissions or ads either.
Let's you put a shortcut to tether settings on home screen. No ads, no permissions.
My only wish is that the icon was higher resolution for ICS (Galaxy nexus).. 4,5 stars!
This app does what it says nothing more nothing less no add ons it is perfect.
Makes it so quick for me to make my phone into a WiFi hotspot so my tablet can connect to the internet.
It just opens the portable hotspot settings, which was exactly what I needed.
I used with my Xperia pro.! and worked nicely.
No crap, nothing complicated. It just works with a tap.
Only works with blue tooth, uninstalled.
Makes my life a little easier, thanks.
When i clicked open it sayed unfortunately settings has stopped if u are gonna dowload a tether dont letit be this one
for the first time i am rating an app in playstore..... simply superb
Nothing to add here. Tested on SGS3
Much easier than going through all the menus
Works exactly as described on nexus 4
Anyone who says otherwise is either an idiot, technically illiterate, or just a plain old troll. If it only allows you to modify Bluetooth, that means your carrier has disabled WiFi hotspot, and you're an idiot for not rooting your phone. It is a shortcut you place on the screen and it sends you right to the tether screen, bypassing the apps/settings/more/tethering screens altogether.
