Text Reader
The program works with text file formats only. If you see unreadable characters on the screen, then either you have opened a non-text file, or do not have chosen the correct character encoding. Auto-detection of encoding works only for files that support such feature. For all other files, you must specify the appropriate code page.
You can flip through pages of the text by tapping the top or bottom of the screen. Text position is adjusted by pressing in the middle of the screen.
To remove some items from the history list, you can use a long press on the corresponding element.
Use volume keys to adjust the brightness of the screen.

It's almost comic that in the sea of text reader apps there's only (this) one that that reads text files, remembers the current position within a file, keeps the screen on and is ad free. I've tried tens of text reader apps and, so far, this has been the only one that suits my needs.
Great! I have some text files I want to view a specific way. This lets you customize exactly how to do that, even supports TTF fonts. The only feature it's lacking is the ability to choose a hex number for the color, which you can work around with root and editing the prefs file anyway.
Thank you very much. The app is perfect for what I wanted - compact, no ads, no unnecessary permissions, and capable of searching through a large file (over 1/4 million lines) with relative ease. The app takes over the entire screen rendering the back, menu and close icons inaccessible, so there's no clean way to exit the app. That is just not acceptable. Removing.
Nice little app to read saved and downloaded only whatsapp chats. Other English or hindi files changes into weird fonts, which I can't decode. But it has good settings. Can zoom by typing number more than 30 in settings.
Text Reader 4.1.5 I am not able to find the correct character encoding to display Chinese texts and speak out in Chinese. Please kindly assist.
Wasn't expecting much from this. Just wanted to read a text file from my cloud. Does more - actually SPEAKS the text if you want in a nice female voice. Can think of massive amounts of uses for this app. Gonna have lots of fun with it. Thanks.
The app can open files (zipped fb2) as "open with" but displays them as binary hieroglyphs. By the way, continuous display of text is very good looking!
Scrolls very smoothly. Customizable font size, line spacing, font color, background color. Renders UTF-8 correctly.
It is great, but how come despite all the great functions, we cannot select/copy/cut or Export ext into for example, .Txt format, or select all text and simple copy? Seems weird for not being able to select text by long pressing...
Nice little app, though it needs a feature to outline the text so the reader can navigate through the pages.
Never in my life have i come across such a stupid app. it automatically coverts the file i want it to read, into a coded language. i spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to operate it, only to uninstall in 15 minutes within downloading the app.
Allows you to view files AND saves your position within the file.between sessions. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Tts is abysmal. Stops when you close screen, end of page treat like new sentence even if sentence continues on other page. Just don't get this if you want to use text-to-speech.
This is a TOTAL DISASTER!!! WHY wrap the texts??? Everything is in a MESS!!! No Paragraphs,No Original look!!! Can you at least maintain how the article look like originally??????????
This app really disappointed me. Didn't really offer anything. Just looks for my files really and didn't do anything it was advertising. I'm really disappointed
Doesn't render some cyrillic letters. Can't intuitive lybcopy text, really not useful app unless you only need to read txt files in english
Godammit all I want is to be able to press on the text to copy it - is that too much to ask? Also, when I open a txt file, the app does not come up as an option. Useless
I should have given this app up to five stars but it is impossible to copy texts from the app if the developer can help with that I think the apk should be much more better
Love loading up a web novel and listening to it as I work. Great features and UI.

Ugh its hard to use, i have a hard time searching for the documents and take a lot of time, totally useless
The interface is weird, but it does seem to be a lightweight app that works as expected. RTF, TXT files work. Still, other alternatives like Office Documents Viewer seem better. I've used this app for years and if all you need is literally just a txt and RTF reader it's great. The UI for long/large documents is just too unintuitive though. It probably means this is showing its age
