I've been reading this excellent news source via the app for years, but lately the app has been very frustrating to use. Articles often take ages to load. Or the the app suddenly decides to refresh whilst I'm in the middle of reading an article, taking me back to the home page so I have to find the article again. It wasn't behaving this badly last year. The 3 stars is for the app only, the content is excellent!

It would be an awesome app if only I could access my saved stories. I've read other complaints about this but still nothing fixed. It's very annoying that only 3/4 of the app works. Otherwise it delivers the News as designed. A month later......still can't access saved stories, paper download random as to wether you can read it or not. Worst app ever

App now unusable. I am no longer able to download or view the digital print edition. The app has been crashing for months and I have had to force stop and reattempt download in order to get success. Today it tells me that there is no internet connection and to try again. This is clearly nonsense as News Stories refresh, and other internet function is normal. My android software version is 7.1.1 and I can't update further. So If this is the issue please tell us and stop wasting our time.

The recent updates to the app have made it very slow to open. App has white screen and notification saying "Updating with latest content" that times out. Content appears almost instantly once app is closed down and restarted. This happens every time I access the app.

Always a good read, articles are well written and concise. Generally centre right politically, some left wing input. The absence of mushy filling is appreciated. More sensible left wing or dissenting views would bring more balance but possibly detract from the core centre right view. The editing staff appear to do an excellent job. Jack. When the phone goes into screen save mode, and you then activate the screen, the app does not open in the page that was open, but instead you have to reaccess the page you were looking at..applies particularly to the ming game pages.

The Australian app on my Android Samsung tablet hardly works and continually shuts down despite having the latest version of the app and OS. Not good enough.

There are too many grammatical and typographical mistakes in the newspaper. The writers don't appear to check, or have checked, their work. The Saved Stories function doesn't work and today's quick crossword is the same as yesterday's.

Thanks for fixing notifications. Two more things need some attention & I'm amazed no one else has raised it. 1. Why can't I load & read any article consistently at around 12:30am. I just get loading errors. Is some kind of back end process causing this? 2. Reviewing replies to my comments is well, impossible. Why tell me someone has replied or liked my comment when it's just complex to get to it. I end up going to the web version & doing a string search in comments to find it! Crazy. Tnx

Australian App is excellent but sometimes it is only updated wrll into the morning, with articles not evident when the link is pressed

I have asked the this news paper on numerous occasions to improve the download speed for the last six months. It really hasn't. Please make it easier and quicker for subscribers to download the newspaper so that they can go off-line.

There's only one thing that really irks me about this app, if you download the printed version of the newspaper, to read off-line, the screen always rotates to the vertical, even when you lock it. Not good when you like to read lying down on your side. Come on developers, shouldn't be too hard to fix, I'm running a Samsung Tablet. Thanks. 16/12/21 You have fixed the problem. Not a good app. Podcasts re start every time I open it and I have to try guess where I was up to. Also get LOTS of emails. How you can charge for this has me stumped!

Unstable. Crashes regularly. Slow to load. Reported this issue many times. It's not improved and help is non existent.

Hopeless. Drops out every five minutes. Often will not load, I have wasted hours of my life on this utterly useless app. I will have to cancel my subscription. I have more to do with my life than spend hours trying to read this newspaper.

After years of trouble-free use on my S3 and S6, I upgraded to the latest Samsung S10+ and the app is really terrible. I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice, including today, but the problems persist. 1. Only the "Latest" updates. Nation, Business, World etc. I'm getting content that is two days old. 2. The content doesn't align with the heading. For example, today (Mon 08/04/19) under Media, I've got all the sports stories, while under Sport, I've got the Weekend Magazine. Podcasts gives me the Review section from the Weekend Australian.

It's a pretty good app. There used to be an article progress indicator down the right hand side to show how far through an article you were. I could highlight a word and lookup it's meaning without copying and pasting to a search engine. There used to be photo galleries within articles. I miss all these items. But it is otherwise quite good.

The worst app in the Android News arena. Come on News Ltd. Fix the thing. As mentioned by others, the app still does work to download the paper on 4G. I have reported this several times - occasional improvement then reverts to hopeless. This app is the worst part about going on holidays. About time the app was overhauled. Over the past seven years, I have spent more time trying to get the print version to download and work on my Samsung devices than I have spent reading the paper. Infuriating.

Once downloaded, if closed, I have to download. a second time which is very annoying. Do not like the order of the articles and prefer the hard copy layout. Enjoy the articles especially by the Inquirer journalists. I will get used to this new app in time but it is frustrating and there is enough of that in life anyway.

Probably one of the worse apps I've had to deal with in the past few years. User interface is terrible, extremely hard to find specific articles. Opening a notification for an article headline takes you to an older article and not the one notified about. App freezes and locks up on certain tabs. Often I'm forced to force quit the app and reopen just so it isn't frozen on the initial loading page.

Whilst the app is able to display articles it shows, there are many bugs. For instance it is unable in comments to go to the article one commented on. This works fine in browser on a PC. It is very difficult to search. Easier to go to Google to find stuff in The Australian, rather than to use the native search.

app is constantly closing. will not allow to open even after uninstalling and reinstalling. does not save items that have been downloaded when it restarts. what is the point in downloading if you only have to do it again? After a period of over 12 months there has not been any improvement in this app. It still freezes and no matter how many times you uninstall and then reinstall it there is no improvement. If there was an alternative to it I would certainly take it .

Worse app ever. Frequently crashes and sometimes needs a rest before you can open it again. It has been like this for years as the updates never really fix anything. Sometimes it will just restart several times but never take you back to where you were. Very frustrating! Surely it can't be that hard to produce a functional app?

Once again the app is crashing when I try to open the as printed edition. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. The last time this happened (August 2020) it took a fortnight for a fix, which has worked for only 44 days. The programmers at the Oz seem to have a real problem with Samsung. The clipping function has not worked for a long time, and requests for help are ignored. Customer relations and quality of service are not highly valued in the Oz technical department.

Latest version of app has three very bad problems: [1] "Today's Paper" (back issues) is crashing the app again like it did for 3 weeks in August 2020. [2] Sometimes when offline and switching to the open app, the app completely restarts (as if it was not already open), then it displays the message: "An error occurred loading this content" and it will not allow access to the offline edition or back issues. So offline is then useless. [3] When offline and the app is closed and reopened, the "Today's Paper" back issues disappear. This happened before problem 1. started happening. So this app is still unstable, but also stories take 10 seconds to open (used to be 2-3 sec in 2018).

Ok for reading article as they are grouped ie Business, World etc but the app should have some sort of Key word search so you can locate articles of particular interest. Also the feature that allows you to download a copy of the paper to read 'as printed' is so slow and doesnt give any indication of progress leaving you wondering if it is working at all. Poor.
