The Battle of Polytopia

The most elegantly designed 4X game, bar none. This is the easiest way to get into the genre. The game is easy to learn, hard to master, and full of tricks and interesting choices you'll spend hours considering enjoying. The graphics are effective at conveying all the information you need and have great readability. The game is constantly updated and the development team is great at listening to the community. One of the best free strategy games out there.

Very nice game, simple and very good. I have nothing to say about it, everything is cool, except the fact that you only have 4 factions and that the rest cost real money. I don't mind that the special factions are, but the normal ones like could be unlockable through achievements or special difficult levels. Anyways, it's still a good game.

I've played this game for a long time. It's great. However, after the latest update which have us diplomacy, I have yet to get through a single game without the game just locking up. It's weird, it's not frozen in the typical sense. I can still select a unit and the game shows the valid moves, I just can't move the piece, or any other piece. I can't end the turn either. I've restarted the game and when I open it up again I'm in the same situation. Restarting the phone is the same.

I really love everything about this game and intended to rate 5 stars. But after making the purchases necessary to play multiplayer online with friends, I (And apparently many others) are having an issue where we are unable to add ANYONE! Please fix the problem, and I'll gladly rate 5! Update: Fantastic customer service and great game!

Fantastic minimalist turn-based civilisation strategy game! If you enjoy researching technologies, optimizing your economy, and pumping out a variety of creative troop combinations then this is the game for you. Unique technologies and units that are specific to each civilization keep the game interesting, especially on multiplayer. Once you have mastered the game, getting the 3 star achievements with each civilization makes you think carefully about each move.

Nope, I'm out. The Diplomacy update makes the game much more complicated and challenging - and frustrating. I'd probably love it if I was starting out, but for years Polytopia has been a nice simple cruise control game for me. I have other games that make me think. And now this game frustrates me rather than relaxes me. Gave it a good 5 or 6 hours trying to adjust, but nope. I really wish I could get the old version somehow. I'd gladly pay for Polytopia classic, but I'm not playing this.

usually i find strategy games quite boring but this one in particular i found very fun for some reason. it's rather simple to play and you won't be spending too much time thinking about what you do in your turn, overall the game isn't as serious as other games in the genre. on mobile you start with only 4 tribes, they're all pretty decent and the others also have a reasonable price of like 1$ but you can have a lot of fun even without paying. basically you should play this... NOW!

Edit: I hate the diplomacy update. It is too unbalanced and ruins any other style of game play. I've invested to unlock all of the tribes, but i don't even want to play the game anymore because it aggrevates me too much. Original Review: Fantastic game! Would love to see an update with bigger boards and/or more tech advancements, but awesome none the less!

The game finally added Deplomacy, and I am loving it. It adds great balance to the game, it has smarter AI. My only complaint is that there isn't a way to win diplomatically, that would be fun to add. Also, there is nothing you can do if your base is land locked (even after boarder expansion), so maybe adding in a new feature like a canal could be added.

Just tried the new update and I hate it. The cloak's ability to start a riot is way too strong. What used to be a solid 20-30 minute game is now dragging on over an hour. Please provide a 'classic' mode with the original tech tree. Really, really don't like this update. -- UPDATE: dropped from 2 star down to 1 star after more playing. The cloak infiltrations are growing the enemy faster than anything. It's terrible. I've gone from loving this game to despising it.

Following the recent updates including adding diplomacy, this is no longer the fun, light game that I've enjoyed almost daily for few years. The simple look is now cluttered and hard to see, menus popping up several times each turn (do I really need to confirm recovery? No I don't) really slow it down and kill the pleasure. Can I go back please? I loved this so much, and now I can't bear to sit here waiting for it to stop fussing!

After a few years I reinstalled the game and it was pretty fun at the start and I had access to the things I bought the last time I played. Only downside is that it got kinda boring and redundant pretty quickly. My suggestion is making every civilization unique in its own way, not just a free upgrade in the skill tree, because everything gets heavily countered by the groups at the bottom of the list. Also, add an in-game, free-to-get currency that can be used to purchase other civilizations.

Great, entertaining game that opens up a lit of possibilties if you spend a bit. Sadly though, the game can get boring, even on the hardest mode, if you know what you're doing. Because after a while it judt gets repwtitive, maybe if there was a progression system to help unlock different cosmetics or upgrade for your troops, things like that would make the game more intriguing. Other than that, 🖒🖒🖒.

For the past 6+ years I've kept this game on my phone and I often come back to it. Great game for passing time and the different playstyles and strategies in this game are great. I esp love the creator mode so I can play huge maps on crazy with one opponent 😆 great paid options for the tribes, have bought several and the unique skills make for more interesting game play. Only prob was via Google and the game when I lost all my purchases...after years it's been fixed, but -2 stars for that.

The new update definitely gave the game a fresh feel, but it also made it more complicated. Needs a game mode where you can disable diplomacy so games don't take forever. It's more frustrating to play. Edit: Finally uninstalled it after the update. Oh well. Was such a fun game, too.

Amazing game, real timekiller (I wasted 7 hours on this and didn't even realize 😭). It's so addicting until it gets kind of repetitive. But that aside, I would like to see the tribes having different perks and buildings rather than just one level of the skill tree. Otherwise, it's the first mobile game I've actually enjoyed in years! Good job!

This game is tons of fun, especially with my friends. I've even bought all the tribes to support the company, which worked out because they are coming out with a huge update. The one downside I found was that it can get a little bit repetitive if you don't push yourself with higher difficulty bots or play with friends. Overall a wonderful game in my opinion, 10/10 do recommend.

I have been playing this game everyday for years. It was a great relatively simple strategy game with great battlefield tactics (infantry, artillery, calvery, heavy infantry. With the addition of each "special tribe" the game got slightly worse because it added gimmicks to a game that didn't need it. With the newest update the game is basically ruined. The addition of cloak makes the game unplayable. Invisible troops that multiply 5 times all over the gameboard ruins battle strategy. Booooo

May2022: since update I think the game is easier. I have 8 playable teams and on crazy it doesn't seem that challenging. Disappointing because I really like the game. Many hrs of fun. Down fall is there a simple strategy on crazy which works every time. The Ai needs improvement.

Actually a very fun strategy game. You do have to pay for multiplayer, but thats only €1 and the singleplayer is still good. This game does have 2 downsides for me tho. 1. The hardest AI difficulty is crazy, but its really not that hard. I wish there was a harder difficulty, maybe even unfair. 2. You cannot play with more tribes than you have unlocked. I do not understand why this was limited this way. It is possible to get multiple tribes in one match, so why put the amount of AIs behind a payw

Clever game design, challenges you to play to your advantage and make smart decisions. Many ways to win matches . You can play this game 100 times without mastering it. Complexity increases as you improve. No unnecessary mechanics, just good gameplay. Compact. Intuitive controls Minimal ads. 5 stars

This was a great game. I played it for hours. Unit strength made sense, combat buffs were sensible, every power had an anti-power, enemies were friendly, and you'd win as often as you lost. But new units with overpowered abilities, no forces to counter the new units, "fixing" classic units by reducing their strengths, and making basic units unplayable all led to extremely long games with irritated opponents now playing spiteful kamikazes. Great update, need more updates!!! The only reason not 5 is because I think there should be more characters to play with and more options for maps such as islands, all land map, one river straight down the map map, you know what I mean. And make a chat option so their is communication with multi-player

Not loving the latest update at all, aggression is completely flipped along with evidently their ability to discover and manufacturer what seems twice as fast as you can. I've played this game for years on phone and PC, bought all your tribes and supported all you've done but this last update is just BS for no reason. I'm going to quit playing for awhile and hopefully you'll adjust or revert back, if not then I'll just delete and move on.

I have had this game for years on end and I have loved it. The variety of tribes and the options for world creation are incredible. And this new peace update is AWESOME. I had gotten a little tired of have an ally and then they randomly start a war with me, but now I can create peace for much longer and these cloak units are insane. Overall, 20/10 strongly recommend.
