The Big Crossword

I absolutely love it. I have played many Crosswords and this one is amazing. Not only can you use your coins for hints but instead of having to purchase more coins all you do is watch a 30 second ad and for each ad you watch you get $100 coins back. It's a hard one to play but that's what I like about it. It's not big as advertised, it's HUGE. Sweetpea

Really enjoying the app so far. So far the mixture of difficulty between clues and categories keeps it interesting enough for me to keep coming back. The game has ads, but they are not intrusive and only last for 5 seconds a time. Working full time means I can dip in and out of this crossword wherever and whenever I can. Easy key layout and presentation.

Just started. Love that there is a lot to it. Invited a friend. Wish we could work as a team remotely. A pause button would be nice too. Edit: Due to tablet malfunctions, I've had to restart twice. A save feature or ability to transfer progress would be helpful.

I love the game itself. I like the idea of working on a single giant puzzle over time. However. The ads. There's so many! And I'm not asking the game to go ad-free. i just think they could be included in a better way. Like, instead of ads that interrupt gameplay, do what a lot of games are doing now and make it a "watch ad - recieve coins" sort of thing. This would allow players to get coins for more hints as well as being less interruptive and annoying. Just a thought.

I found this to be challenging yet doable, even tho many clues are written for a British solver, I believe? The ads are non intrusive and it's easy enough to score some free points for the very tough clues. One recommendation for developers ... please offer an option to reveal just one specific letter. I would much rather work out the solution myself, but I've found that there are times that I have no choice but to reveal the whole word. Thanks for a great puzzle! I want more!

I have never seen a crossword puzzle so big. It makes a great challenge. I can't imagine how long it took to write it. Anyway, the clues range from easy to difficult, & I wouldn't play without the hints. My only gripe deals with the hints & their cost. Revealing the first & last letter should cost less than removing unused letters. My favorite hint is removing the unused letters. Of course, the ads can get annoying, BUT there's an option to get coins for watching them.

Excellent puzzle. I spent some 11 hours total solving. It is one huge puzzle, but you can choose to follow "quests" with clues in a certain theme (body, animals, music). There are a good number of cryptic clues, which could be a bar to entry for some. When you're finished, of course, nothing left but to delete the app. Ads are every five minutes or so, but can be closed after 5 seconds, do much less intrusive than similar free games.

Took me 7 hours to complete. Only one or two of the clues were far too easy; the majority were about right to make you think. A few were harder. There's an opportunity to get a hint if you want one...and you can "earn" them by watching ads, which means it is totally free. I would prefer it if you could have a one letter hint for less coins, rather than "first and last" "whole word" or "remove letters". I like that the clues are categorised too. Very enjoyable and satisfying.

Interface seems pretty good. I think the clues are a good mix of easy to hard, except the cryptic clues. About half the ones I have solved made some sort of sense but the other half didn't even when I saw the answer and the supposed logic to the answer. It's about 10% cryptic clues which doesn't sound so bad until you realize that's about 140 cryptic, 70 of which will never make sense. Ads are also too frequent and the same ones keep repeating, but turn off wifi and they will stop.

Alright crossword, pretty big. it took me >18 hours (not sure exactly how many, I deleted the app as soon as I finished to free up some space so I can't check). Rated 3 stars because of the cryptic clues. I hated them. Some of them made some sense when done, others didn't. Other than that, it was alright. I liked the quest bit, but didn't really use it, just the classic mode.

The nav is really easy despite the size of the puzzle and it's easy to see. The optional quests are a nice touch; and the linked clues are cool, too. I'm still getting the hang of the Cryptics, but they almost always make sense after I cheat. 😇 It's a good mix of difficulties but I can tell sometimes that the devs are in the UK because the terms for some things are different. Which is fine, cuz why should they change their language for a bunch of 'Murricans? Also the devs are very responsive.

I was bummed at first because I thought I had to use my coins to open all the categories. I didn't. Just start answering clues and you will unlock the corresponding category. I am pleasantly surprised at this app. Most crosswords I find are either too easy or too hard. This is perfect for me, challenging but solvable. Maneuvering is so easy, cross referencing clues, switching to other clues or sections of the puzzle,. Great app so far

This puzzle is just challenging enough. I think I've worked at this crossword every day since I've downloaded it. The ads are a bit frequent, but they're very brief! At most you're looking at 5 second ads, but some are just a picture that you can x out of immediately. I definitely recommend downloading this if you like crosswords.

Ads after solving a word, ads after touching the puzzle, add just four opening the app. Trash. The puzzle itself is very good. I just hate when I'm deep in thought on a word, then an ad pops and ruins my train of thought. UPDATE: What the devs say is completely false. The ads are numerous and far more often than once every five minutes, that's why I uninstalled.

Maybe its just my phone, but the game keyboard is clunky. The back space button is too close to the 'L' key, so when I go to erase a wrong word, a string of L's is formed. Also, the reward system pays too little (I usually play offline). There should be more offline achievements e.g. on solving every 100 words, you receive 400 coins. Just a suggestion. Please look into it.

It had been difficult finding a crossword app with the grid type and difficulty level I prefer and enjoy. This app is wonderful! A huge grid area and the clues require thinking without being impossibly difficult. It has adds, but enough game play is allowed between them to keep them from being annoying and obtrusive. The little quests within add a monotony-repelling value.

Amazing game, was hooked for hours and hours. Only giving 3 stars though as it seems that once you've completed the crossword, that's it. There's no new ones which is a shame as I was really excited about doing the next one. So now have to delete the app as its completed. Very disappointed.

Excellent but frustrating. One bug which I am not sure they can fix is when deleting a failed answer is if you hold the delete key it quickly deletes but then jumps to the adjacent word and starts deleting that. Apart from that it was excellent and used a mixture of straight clues and cryptic. However it took me 15 mins to find the very last unanswered question. :D If you want to task your knowledge its set up to do just that. An excellent part is it was in Queens English Awesome 👍👍

A great challenge! Some easy and some very challenging clues. As a South African (from Natal!) I find that many of the clues are specific to the UK - A good learning experience but would be great if it were more universal. A suggestion - when in quest mode why not show only unsolved clues? It is really a pain to scroll through all the solved clues! Anyway a great app and can't wait for Big Crossword 2. Regards Shaun

Way too many cryptics. I am not a fan and don't like that there are so many. Seems to be for more of a British audience so there are a lot of cultural references I'm not getting. Clues don't always seem to follow the traditional style of wording I'm used to with crosswords. Still, I'm enjoying the challenge of completing such a large puzzle. I've been playing for about a week and I'm about 60% finished.

Lattice grid crossword puzzles like this one always feel amateurish. These are the kinds of puzzles I first learned to work and make in grade school. American style grids, like one gets in the N. Y. Times, are denser and more professional. They are not that difficult to create either. I just don't care for the lattice grid. LOLs. Changing my rating just for the kind and interesting response. Awesome crossword - I just want more! Mixture of general and cryptic questions. Good mix of easy/hard. Easy to use and looks good. I'd love to see more levels just like this.

Challenging but fun! A lot of the clues were obviously meant for British players, so unless you're familiar with all things British...those can be difficult. LOTS of cryptic clues. I rated 3 stars because there's only one puzzle. Once you finish it (took me 24 hours total), that's it. No reason to keep the app after that.

What a challenge! I'm about twelve hours in with just a handful of answers left - I'm determined to finish it without using any hints or looking up any answers online. I've absolutely loved solving this, an excellent way to spend some free time. The adverts aren't intrusive at all. I really hope there'll be a Big Crossword 2!

This is surprisingly fun. it's definitely on the easy side as far as crosswords go, but there's a lot of variety in it. some of categories feel like trivia (do you know your capitals?) others are cryptic crossword style clues. give it a shot.

Enjoyable. Some of the spellings are little odd, though this might because they are american. And some of the clues dont quite make sense / match the answer. It would be nice if once completed, a new crossword is given. But the only option is to uninstall or restart the same one again.
