The Book of Mormon

Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is the word of God, like the Bible. Both books contain God's guidance as revealed to prophets, as well as religious histories of different civilizations. While the Bible is written by and about the people in the land of Israel and surrounding areas and takes place from the creation of the world until shortly after the death of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon contains the history of God's dealings with the people who lived in the Americas between approximately 600 BC and 400 AD. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.

This app is meant to be less overwhelming and just be a helpful resource to those who are just learning about what the Church of Jesus Christ. It has the text translated into English at first, but you can change it to your preferred language. Also, if you press the top right, vertical "..." icon, and press "Related Content" then you'll get helpful visual aids like pictures and videos of what is going on in the scriptures you're reading. (This is a simplified version of the Gospel Library app.)

Has reading and/or listening options. A feature I REALLY like is when I reopen it, it takes me to the exact chapter where I stopped. Audio activation used to be more convenient but no biggie once I figured out the extra steps now required (wonder why that). Former narrators (Bruce Lindsay etc) were MUCH better. Also it has started cutting off narration at the end of the chapters. Used to be better, especially narrators, but still a great app that I'm grateful to have. No ads, easy on battery.

I liked another BOM app much better, but unfortunately, it disappeared from my phone. What I liked about the other was that the font size was larger than this and the audio controls didn't cover up part of the screen. I also liked the voices better. They seemed to be engaged in what the text was talking about. This one is more like somebody reading text, without feeling.

The English version works great, and this is a life changing book. However it refuses to open Japanese or Korean even though they are downloaded. Crashes immediately when selecting a language. I hope it gets fixed soon. Would be perfect if split screen was enabled, allowing two languages side by side.

Truly a testament of Christ, a companion and completion to the Bible and the doctrine thereof. The app itself is very easy to use, the audiobook part of it is nicely done, the features are nice, and yeah altogether the app is pretty great. The Book itself is quite literally beyond description. I highly recommend reading it, pondering it, and praying about it. Feast on the wonderful words of Christ. Pray, with faith in Christ and real intent, and all things'll be made know to you.

Had to go "fix" what wasn't broken. Just because you can jack up a perfectly simple app doesn't mean you should.

The update they made to it have made it difficult to operate. the original version (before the latest update) that had the audio play at the top was simple and easy, now it adds extra and unnecessary steps such as you must be scrolled up to the top of the page to be able to start audio playback. Because of this I change from 5 to a 2 star rating.

I like the app and it was working great before but with the latest update, you can't click on any of the extras for the topical guide. I am not sure why these features were removed, as it was helpful to have both the gospel library and this. The text size is also buggy. Would give five stars if the features were still there otherwise. EDIT: Now you can't select the text, either. Why are features bring removed?

Great book. To bad the app is less about the book and more an example of poor design and complete loss of purpose. Entered it this morning and couldn't even figure out what to open to read, but no shortage of things that have nothing to do with the book of Mormon. Gigantic social media icons. Huge tiles for cartoons and videos. All I could think was where the heck am I supposed to click to read. Get it together do your jobs right. Not every idea you have is a good one.

A beautiful way to keep the Word of Wisdom with you regardless of where you are. Doesn't drain the battery. Easy to navigate and read. A great alternative to the physical copy of Book of Mormon if you arent able to access one at the time. Would really love and annotation feature for personal studying.

Love having this easy access, seperate from library; lesson manuals, magazines etc. It will stay right where I left off. No need to remember to bookmark. I do wish it had a dark screen option so as to be easier on the eyes. An auto scroll would be nice as well. Thank you.

The layout is beautiful, and I love how well this app works. It's almost perfect for my needs. ❤ The only thing I'm curious about is whether or not there is a way to highlight and take note, and sync those to my LDS account so I can see the annotations between devices. The whole library is too big to fit on my phone (due to lack of available space on my device), so I love the idea of having just this single book. I just really wish I could take notes and sync everything like we can with the Gospel Library app. Is there any way we can make that happen? :D

I've used this app for quite a few months and love using it. The layout is elegant and simple. I've noticed recently that the app got quite an update and it mostly worked out for the better. However, where's the original narration? To me it was much better then the new one. Please give an option to use the original one.

Easy to use. Love the voice narration options. Great book! Interesting to compare their day to ours. Always finding things that happened then that are just as or more relevant now. Even the Words of Wisdom section about health is pretty inspired. Worth a look! Definitely!

I try to read a verse every time I open up my phone, and this app was a lot better than the Gospel Library app for this because it loads faster. However, the latest update made it so that when I come back, it's at the top of the chapter, and not where I was before. PLEASE fix this, it'll help a lot, and I don't think I'm the only one who dislikes the change. Thank you!

Truth be told, I don't find this as useful as the gospel library app. I don't see the advantage of having both apps. All the features, that I am aware of, that you can get on the gospel library app are not necessarily present on this app. I didn't see any ability to highlight, cut and paste, etc. It may be good for those just starting out, and not fully willing to accept all the other gospel sources available in the gospel library app, but for more seasoned seekers, I find this lacking.

Not sure what's happening... but I'm listening to the English audio and it keeps cutting off just before the end of the chapter, then goes to the next one... thought is was a one off, but it has happened to every chapter I've listened to. Very annoying.

This is good if you only want the Book of Mormon on your phone. The Gospel Library app provides everything: The Bible, all standard works, manuals, every conference talk, other books, and some really old papers. (You just install the parts you're interested in.)

Nat. R. Apr 21, 2020

Love the layout of the app but I'm not able to leave personal notes or highlight anything. Like I can normally in the book of Mormon and bible. The Bible app I'm able to do all of this and love to see the difference meanings it has to me in different years. (I'll date my 1st read and my thoughts then. And when I encounter the scripture again later on in a few years I like to do it again and see how much I've grown since the last time I read that scripture and left a personal note)

I noticed some people are saying the app only shows cover page. It will be downloading fonts and updating other stuff. Just 1 min internet connection it will be up and running. It's working great for me

This app won't play any other language but English. Also if you want it to read to you you have to start with the beginning and then manually swipe to the Chapter you want it to read. If you close the app and reopen it you have to start from the beginning again and then manually swipe to where you left off in order for it to continue reading. Very annoying.

Fantastic app! Thank you! I have read the Book of Mormon 54 times in my life. I love it! I am rereading it again and am in Alma chapter 12. I testify that this book is true! 👍🙂

Jus. R. Apr 27, 2022

I don't like how it describes this book as another gospel of Jesus Christ when we have no evidence to support that this man wasn't just another heretic who wrote some random ramblings. Jesus of the Bible says look, I have told you all things. I do not like how this just acts as if it's completely factual that this is some prophet when Jesus came to fulfill all that the prophets had said. We do not need a new prophet and this does not need to be stated as if it were fact.

This is the model for how to turn a book into an app. Simple, complete, no issues or problems at all. It's nice to have this wherever I go, it's also nice just to know I have it wherever I go. Please fix the Gospel Library.
