Not sure where all the negative reviews for ad breaks are coming from, I've been a user for about 6 years now and have had no issues. I get 1-2 adds at the start of the stream and then no interruptions from there for hours of listening. I use this to listen to the current daily!
Plays for about a minute then crashes. Sometimes it teases you by actually playing for a few minutes, so you think it's finally working then... crash. This app used to work great. If it ain't broken, don't fix it!
The current Playlist- I love the Current. however a lot of times the app stops showing who the artist & song is, so that gets a bit frustrating. The app definitely needs improvement. Ps. yes the app is updated on my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy S9+ & everything else works great on my phone
Interruptions literally every 15 seconds with ads. You can't get thru one song without an ad. Ridiculous! Uninstalling after less than 24 hours, beyond annoying 😑.
Music is powerful. The stations' 4th of July 'A to Z playlist' helped me out of a really bad headspace I was going through - you saved my life. Thank ya'll & much love to all the good folks that get this rockin' station on the air!
I absolutely LOVE the content but the broadcast routinely (always) cuts out after about 45 seconds. It's too bad.
Really??? You can't even listen to a whole song without it being interrupted three or more times with station info.
The chromecasting feature refuses to work. Just literally refuses to connect to any of my speakers.
FIX THE ADS! - Constantly breaks in _mid-song_ on the Purple Current stream to play ads. Love the Current but this app is embarrassing. If you need ads, put the ads BETWEEN THE SONGS!
Crash, re-start and repeat. Coincidentally the app crashed while posting this review. A good station like this deserves better.
I'm already a subscriber, yet it stops the songs about every 10 seconds to ask me to donate. Worse than political ads.
The app continuously pauses while I'm listening.
lots of interruptions....sponsor ads seem to pop in repeatedly, over and above the program's announcements.
I love the current. but this app crashes all the time. I just use the website now. Don't bother.
No issues with ads. Works great with Android Auto.
I've found using the MPR App instead of the Current version is way more reliable!.

It's not what I have expected
I love The Current. Fantastic music. But there are major bugs in app. 1) Alarm does not work at all. 2) when internet connection is lost and then recovers, then controls via notifications or remote play/pause stop working and playlist display freezes, 3) ducking (when audio drops because of another app like driving directions) is broken; other audio is lowered instead of this app. Otherwise it works ok and despite negative feedback elsewhere complaining about ads, there are not very many ads. It is their live stream and typical public radio. Nothing worse than usual FM radio.
Terrible app. Music is interrupted 1-2 times per song for a disinterested sounding voice to read donor recognition ad copy--often the same ads, over and over. I appreciate the need for donors, but other Public Radio stations like KCRW manage to play tons of great old and new music without interrupting a single track for donor ads. There is no longer any room for this level of advertising abuse, when so many other music app options are available. It doesn't matter how good your music curation is if we can never listen to the music without at least one donor ad interruption mid-song.
It's just what it is. A radio app full of ads and audio spams. Get Spotify and relqx
This app is trash. I've been told to get this app and this is the worse for music. Who ever tries to get this app...good luck.

I love The Current. I am a member and contribute monthly. I really want to give the app a better rating. However, the constant ad interruptions are incredibly frustrating. I always miss a favorite song because of this and then I have to listen to 3 more ads before the next song. There are more ads in this app than on the actual station. This is the third time I have tried the app. I uninstalled it previously because of the ad interruptions. They have only gotten worse. Uninstalling again.
