The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game

Play Harry Dresden and his friends as they take on the cases from the bestselling Dresden Files novels in the ultimate what-if scenario—what if Harry was on the scene with allies who weren’t there in the original story? The core game includes Harry, Murphy, Susan, Michael, and the Alphas and plays through the first five novels as well as Side Jobs, a random scenario generator based on the short story collection of the same name. Designs are already well underway for expansions featuring more series characters and more novels.

Not enough content for $7. More books? Its $4 for 2 and you get 2 more people. Thats $20 for the rest of the books so this game should say $27. Its bs. The game is interesting, but on harder books, you have to get a near perfect spread and draw to actually win, so you have to restart about 50 times. Im giving it a 3 because the art/sound, the setting, and the quality of the programming. -2 for cost-to-content ratio. Buy it if it goes on sale, but NOT at full price.

Good digital adaptation of a great boardgame that provides great brain-burning puzzles. Would have given two more stars if : 1. the three hands were always visible while solo-playing. Having to tap multiple times to gather an global overview of the cards and memorize them leads to frequent tactical errors 2. there was an undo button whenever possible (ie. when nothing new is revealed)

I am a kickstarter backer of the physical board game and I LOVE this digital version as well. This game is puzzly and yet thematic and tense with that typical Dresden-esque feeling of 'winning' but not really. It's great, can't recommend it enough. Plays quick and gets you thinking but keeps that Dresden feeling like it could all fall apart at any time.

I love the Dresden files card game. Absolutely love it. But this is almost unwinnable. I have the physical copy at home, and yeah sometimes I roll a bad die. But this game seems to consistently give me bad rolls. I've played probably 5 games and each time I roll it gives horrible results. So...is this really random? or is it just having you fail so that you keep playing it? kinda bummed by this.

Really enjoying the game...so much so that I installed on both phone and tablet and purchased expansion on tablet to find that it wasn't available on my phone. I use the tablet at home on wifi and my phone when I'm out and about. Disappointed to find that any expansions I decide I want will have to be pur based twice. They quickly took care of my issue and made things right. Enjoy the game so much I purchased the physical copy.

DON'T BUY! RNG needs serious balancing. Almost every roll increases fate cost, reduces damage/clues/range/fate gain. Also will randomly do the exact opposite of a command. Hit discard for fate only to have it roll and trigger showdown. Also has given less hits clues at random for a card. Have the actual board game and can tell you this. The comp doesn't need to cheat to make it challenging. Feels like I'm just grinding losses until the game allows me to win. Won't buy any expansions. In fact, I should get a refund for this mess. Disappointed in this failure.

maybe it's my phone, but i can't read any of the card except the title, so i have no idea what the cards actually do. makes the game nearly unplayable. It's also pretty low to charge that much for the game with such limited content. However, it IS true to the card game

Honestly, the RNG is unbearably painful. There's a roll tester in the app and I decided to roll out of boredom for a minute or so. The ratio of - to + was 3:1. I know it's based off an algorithm, but nothing is quite as painful as getting to the showdown and rolling majority negatives when all the cases and foes have between 1-2 hits/clues left. Play the physical version, support the team, avoid the app.

This games is sooo broken. I want to love it but, as many reviewers have stated, the game is flawed & almost unbeatable. The flaw? The dice rolls barely ever come out as a positive. Roll two dice & you rarely ever get ++. Chance dictates it should occur more than I experienced. Unbeatable? Well as dice rolls are a fundamental part of the game you might as well give up. I've won 1 game out of 25 so far! Go me! Whoever programmed this needs to find a job they're actually good at.

Challenging strategy game. You really have to plan ahead to use your fate points (essentially your "energy") most effectively and win. I got this because I'm a fan of the books, but you don't need to be familiar with them to play.

I'm a huge fan of the Dresden Files, so this game is my go to "have five minutes to kill without anything to do" choice". Great art, tough, and each scenario is fun on replays.

Yes, it's difficult. But not broken. Claims that the game has some error in coding that rigging the dice rolls are just silly. It makes the win even more rewarding

As any reviews have stated, this game near unbeatable. Rolls are not balanced. I've given up playing and wish I could get my money back. I'll try the card game because my physical dice roll better than the ones in the game.

This game is really tough to beat but once you find the strategy for each book it all comes together. Excellent for fans of the franchise.

Has a bit of a steep learning curve at least it was for me. But once I started getting the hang of it, a lot of fun to play. A fan of the Dresden Universe

Love Dresden, hate the game. Who ever designed it is an idiot. You're better off playing solitaire.

Playing on easiest setting and can't win a single game

If this weren't a franchise I love I'd be giving it 1 star. I really wanted this to be good, I love the Dresden files and have bought the physical version (and all expansions) so decided to use the app to teach me faster than the manual so I could introduce it to my friends on the weekend. Sadly it's convoluted and feels unsatisfying to play. I say this with regret because I really want to encourage the making of a Dresden files deck builder but this isn't it. It's not so much a deck builder a a preset card pile and it feels like a broken version of Aeon's End when I feel they should have gone down the Ascension or Star Realms style of deck building game. I have legendary, Dominion, start Realms, Ascension, Made Knight etc and hoped this would be something along the grain of one but with a nice lore attached that I know and love. Instead I'm stair the graphics are shockingly bad with what looks like "stock photos" made by a fan and the gameplay is sadly full, uninteresting and convoluted. Please please please make a better one, maybe a PvP deck builder or something and I'll buy it in a great best... And hopefully this time enjoy it. It saddens me to have to write this negative review... Truly.

Fun game but very hard to win. Addictive. Played over 200 times on easy level and only beat each "book" once.

Amazing game. As stated below, it's challenging. I lost repeatedly until I tried the Easy difficulty, and that was still a learning experience. However, if you take the time to look over each hand and plan your route, so to speak, it gets easier. I've finally managed two wins in a row on the standard difficulty.

Kni. E. Jan 31, 2018

The 'easiest' difficulty is is still very difficult, but that is more a fault of the card game's original design. This game is a real challenge: offering complex puzzles - that are different every time you play - which you have to solve with an equally varying array of options to solve them - with no guarantee that you can do so. If you enjoy solving puzzles and are a fan of the books - this is wonderful. Even if you are not a puzzle-addict and a fan of the books, it is still fun... just don't expect to win very often. Big kudos for the variety of multiplayer options: both local and remote.

I've read all of the books and was quick to back the physical game on Kickstarter. I purchased this as soon as it was available. Very true to the book and physical game. This is challenging, but not frustratingly so. It's easy to see what needs to happen to win a book, but the actual path to victory is much harder.

The main problem: cann't connect to a hosted online multyplayer game. My client is trying to connect to a game, that friend created, but never connect. Also, when host changes port adress for a created game, after search connection to game goes by standart 5728

This is a fantastic port of the card game. The only thing that really could make it better would be a reshuffle option at game start since the biggest problem with the card game is being dealt an impossible game to start with and it's a little tedious to have to resign and set everything up again.
