- EDITOR'S CHOICE!

“Given that Tin Man Games’s previous two efforts were quite similar in tone, the change of scenery in The Forest of Doom is very welcome indeed. It’s also encouraging to see the developer adding content to its already-robust Gamebook engine – you now have an auto-map, which records your progress and makes your choices that little bit easier.”

If you’re here looking for the book on your device, look no further. This is what you want. If you’re a fan of game books but don’t know this one at all, I give it a hearty recommendation. I rememeber choose ypur own adventure books and I used to love reading them. This does 1 better by adding the role playing dice elements. I was pleasantly surprised and found myself purposely not memorizing the path to take so that I could keep it fresh. Great Game. I look forward to the GA Collection to be complete so I may purchase them all at once.

As an owner of most of ian livingstones ff books i love the idea of having them on play as to take anywhere...but the most irritating feature is accidently pressing the back button and it quitting without warning hence 4/5 stars cause it can get that irritating. On an up note would really like to see deathtrap dungeon and trials of the champion re hashed

This is a brilliant modern adaptation of the fighting fantasy classic. In fact the automatically updated map, equipment list and character attributes sheet make it even more enjoyable than the original. Great sound effects and a rapid dice battle system make this a quality rpg in its own right. More FF releases soon please guys!

A well executed adaptation of books I used to spend many hours enjoying as a tween. Shamefully have to admit this is the first time I have played strictly to the rules (although options to 'cheat' still exist which is cute). Content was a little scary for my kids (8 & 6) however they were super keen to keep reading and keep pestering me to read it with them. Any thing that encourages my children to read is a win. Great app. Please keep them coming.

This was the first Fighting Fantasy book that I ever read, and even though I eventually grew to prefer others (Citadel of Chaos, please!), this one still holds a fond place in my heart. Thanks for making it so easy to revisit my childhood memories, and please keep making more.

This is super addictive and I love playing it, it does get frustrating when you know you are gunna die and there's nothing u can do about it nomatter were your bookmarks are. But still a amazing game/book. :-)

I was really excited when I found that a few of the Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks that I had played as a child were now available as apps, and the app does not disappoint. The map and character sheet are especially well done. The only thing preventing me from giving a higher rating is the grossly high price for the amount of content. Had this been priced at $2, I would have gladly sought out every book available. At $6 though, I will not be purchasing any more.

I loved Fighting Fantasy - these apps make me feel like a kid again. I can't fault Forest of Doom but it is a bit expensive coming in at over $7 AU (although our lower currency isn't helping). Still going to play the other ones.

Not the greatest piece of interactive fiction, but it makes for an enjoyable afternoon of play. Unfortunately, not a lot of replay value, unless you want to hunt down the achievements and artwork. But it was worth playing through once.

Was expecting a bit of a ropey nostalgia buzz but it's a surprisingly well crafted app. Not just a cash-in, it's obviously been made with love and care. Great.

Read this 30 years ago, loved it then, still great today. With the auto Adventure Sheet, map and dice, it mixes the old with the new seamlessly.

Then you will love this. Sure tis expensive, but it is nicely made. Good work sir.

Brilliant. I forgot how good these books were. My 10 yo daughter is now using my phone to read and having a ball. Makes so much sense. My only comment would be that 2 pounds seems a bit expensive for about 4 to 5 hours gameplay. Are any of these titles longer?

Absolutely perfect. These guys have really paid tribute to the whole thing. Yes, pricey - but they have really worked for it.

A great app I hope they do a deal to get the old books re-released.

A great app....reminds me when I used to spend my days playing fighting fantasy and doing nothing else.

Rus. S. Mar 17, 2017

Great fun. Really well adapted. The inventory system, choice of original or colour artwork and save points really enhance the FF system.

Jim. C. May 22, 2014

I am looking forward to the other promised titles, if they keep up the high standard set here then it will be very good :) Also, really enjoyed the modern v old school settings.

Zeb. T. May 30, 2014

I spent hours reading these books as a youngster, and thoroughly enjoyed reliving them through these apps. I will be buying them all! Hope to see City of Thieves coming out - that was always my favourite!

Lee. G. Jun 26, 2016

Good content just not enough of it. Faithful digital version of the paperback original though.

Dar. C. Sep 7, 2014

Love the tinman series of these title, forest of the doom is my favourite.

Ham. Sep 5, 2014

Someone else already stated that this was the best of the old books & now I can confirm that this is the best of the digital ones; a more oldschool D&D feel, more involvement, simple but better storyline, more fun. If I was to recommend one digital gamebook, it would --without a doubt-- be this one. Well worth the money.

Really appreciate that the app shows the paragraph numbers so that you can verify that different paths lead to the same resolution. I would like to see a version of the map that accumulates over multiple plays so that I can see where I have never explored.
