For the most part I like the pricing...they were able to assist in giving very knowledgeable and informative information. However, the only thing I don't like is that if you're late making payment/lasped...despite your financial circumstances/state of health...they will report you to DMV. Then you have to show proof and state on a notarized letter that you did not operate you vehicle(s) during time it was lasped...I did and still got letter stating that I need to show notarized letter! WTH!
I have the general for a year now and haven't had a problem they are great. My only issue with the app happened this month, I paid my insurance but it still isn't showing that I paid so I paid again and still isn't saying that I paid. My due date is still the end of month eventhough I paid it twice. It is now showing on my payments. The app has been updated and all. I just know I paid twice and I should be good until the end of July
After entering my password multiple times just be able to log in, the app keeps saying my session has timed out and knocks me right back out to the log-in screen. The app is useless if i can't use it.
Literally threatens you constantly that they're going to cancel your policy if you don't pay them IMMEDIATELY after paying your bill. You get a whole week to enjoy being left alone after paying your monthly payment before texts, emails and actual letters show up at your home telling you that your policy is due to be cancelled if you don't pay your bill. This asinine company let's you chose either the 1st or the 15th & then harasses you when you pay monthly. Absolutely awful business practices.
The UI needs a total overhaul it's very unappealing and could definitely use actual effort put in to make it nice and fix the 'flow', They now allow extra time after your due date if your late on the payment before cancelling your coverage, but incurs +$10 "late fee", The monthly payment has been going up consistently for no reason even after I turned 25 when it's supposed to go down. When I re add vehicles previously on my policy my payment is way more than I was paying before. What the heck?!
Have had The General for several years. No problems AT ALL ... Until this month. I couldn't keep the app open to make a payment. I finally just googled another site & paid there. When I go back to the one I have downloaded on my phone it doesn't show a payment made. I'm going to delete that app & find another one to download. Not sure what the problem is. But besides this happening this month I've never had an issue. Great company!
Site is super easy to use, including to make a payment that doesn't incur an extra fee! Super competitive rates, no complaints here!

It won't ever let me log in, chat support won't help it just says my session has expired nonstop. I can't even change my password! You have five days to fix this or I find a new insurance company!
Will an update be coming for the app any time soon? Every single time I open it and try to do anything past the home screen it crashes, I can't make payments, view my cards, view my policy, nothing. The whole point in using thus company for me was the ease of being able to do everything from my phone yet that seems to be impossible. If it's not fixed, then I have no reason to continue paying for this convience and will look elsewhere for insurance.
The app is ok. I think it is rather pointless. All you can do is pay your insurance and file a claim. To change anything on you policy, you can't even use the app to do it. You either have to call or go on the website. Would rate it better if you where able to do everything on the app
So easy, so great...even have partial payment options available if you're having a financial problem that month!!
Had to switch vehicles when my old one became a hazard to drive, the app made it so simple and fast, I couldn't ask for an easier app to navigate. Excellent interface.
So far this app is user friendly and easy to access gets right to the point and you can pay your payment directly from the app I like that
I have the General insurance and it amazing. I can always get ahold of a actual person when calling customer service. They offer rates that are really good if your driving record is good. I will continue being a customer because they actually care about there customers and make sure we are satisfied with out insurance. 😃
The general insurance is already good, so it's no wonder that their app is too. Very intuitive layout and it has everything you need to work your insurance from your phone.
The app works, it's insurance. Nothing to write home about. ( 2021 Spring) Now, to February 2022, I tried to contact them about changing my policy from full coverage to liability, as my car is paid off. There is no one to contact. I've used the app chat, asked for an email, asked for a phone call. Nothing. No longer with them for lack of communication. Not everything needs an app.
So convenient and easy to use. Makes business hassle free cuz you don't need to find any phone numbers or websites. Which means you don't have to talk to any people or enter your payment info on possibly unsecured internet 😉 thanks from the "socially anxious/awkward" that trusts an app over anything else.
Can't say I've ever had any issue with the general when it comes to having insurance an app that tells u everything and good customer service I'll stay with them for as long as I can. Havnt had to ever make a claim so maybe one day I'll have a better review but as of right now they do everything I need them to do.
Horrible experience trying to get them to file a COC for me. I've called 8 different times trying to get them to file a COC to the bmv for me as a non owner operating someone else's vehicle. The last guy I spoke with didn't even know what I was talking about when I said I needed a certificate of compliance. He had to put me on hold to look up Indiana code!! Ridiculous! The people they have working for them have no idea what they are doing !!!

I received my confirmation email which takes me to the app when I click on My policy but its telling me that I don't exist. That the policy number isn't associated with my date of birth or zip code. I'm very frustrated with it. I want to see my insurance cards and add another vehicle to my policy but can't get into the app!!
Very easy when your paying your bill and customer service is very nice and helpful thank you for your service
Very useful app. I can easily view my insurance card, coverage details, and make a payment. Until you actually have to file a claim, this app really needs some work in that Dept.
Simple, easy to us to do anything you need. You can make payments, change your policy, see/print ID cards or anything else you need. Great little app!
Will not use this insurance service after I'm done paying off the policy. Very shady business practices and poor customer service. Only insurance company I've had this much trouble with trying to access an account and get ID cards. That speaks volumes about how this company operates. If I could give zero stars I would.
WARNING: This is the absolute WORST insurance company. Last month they took an automatic payment three days early. I had already cancelled Autopay. They sent a text & email saying the payment would be pulled. I called the next morning to say that I was no longer on Autopay. It was too late. They already submitted my payment 3 days prior to the date stated in writing. They completely screwed up my bank acct and did it again after I cancelled my insurance. Now they refuse to refund me or pay fees.
