This app has helped me so much. I've seen complaints of the screen that stays you can find similar items if you buy the upgrade but it is important to note that the purpose of that screen is to tell you they don't have the barcode in their system and if you upgrade you can search their database for similar items. If you send feed back it sends the barcode with it so let them know they don't have it. This app is incredibly helpful. I've tested it all day and it's accurate. Lets add more barcodes.
So far, just 3/10 products I scanned were not in the database. For each product, I left feedback letting the team know what the item was labeled as and whether it was listed as GF or not. If we all do this, the app will grow and get better and better 👍 I'm looking forward to using the full version, definitely.
Too many items not in the list. Tried to buy the full scanner several times and couldn't. Lately. I haven't been able to use it because there's a message that something like fdk, etc. is not in the app. I have no idea what they are asking so I uninstalled and have been trying to reinstall it for 3 days to no avail. Otherwise it did help me.
DON'T use the paid version. I paid for it thinking more bar codes would scan, but it was a waste of money. The free version is helpful when they actually have the bar code info in their database.
You have to pay to have full access to the database. Even name brands are not available to be scanned. For someone who has celiacs or is trying to not kill their friend who has celiacs, it's a little bit ridiculous to not have full access to a tool that will prevent any of that from happening. I immediately uninstalled it after scanning a dozen items of name brands that didn't come up. It's useless.
Disappointed More than half of the items I scanned were not found. I'm talking major brand foods that one would think the app would have in it's data base. Some examples (all known gluten free foods): Kind bars (various kinds), gluten free Oreos, Progresso gluten free soups, Gushers... Yes, I could send feedback and hopefully get these items added to their database, but I shouldn't have to do that for half of the foods I scan; it completely defeats the purpose of this app. Not worth the download
3 out of 4 scans have no data and urge you to purchase the upgraded version. And yes, I know the developers will answer with a "solution", but it's simply a bandaid to get you to try the ap anyway. Don't bother. I'm uninstalling and looking for another option.
This app doesn't work. I tried scanning some items i had around the kitchen. The first item just wouldn't scan at all, and the second was an item labeled gluten free, it scanned, but didn't show up in the DB. Third item scanned but again no entry in the DB. I wouldn't trust my health with this.
Love the convience of shopping with this app! It recognizes most popular food brand names and let's you know if it is gluten free or not just by scanning the barcode. Only downside, you can't clear the history unless you uninstall the app and reinstall it. No matter, you don't get charged again and so it is still worth it! Saves you time from doing the research yourself! Name brands are getting better at labeling their food products as GF, but it is not mandatory. I highly recommend this app.
Decent app. Just wish there was an option to use the front facing camera. Would have made it much easier to scan products in my cabinets, drawers and fridge if it could just be running in a window while my phone was stationary on my counter while I swipe stuff over it.
I don't know how this app has so many stars, I've scanned 30 items and it only found 2 in the database. The items I'm scanning are pretty common. The best part is it tells me to buy the upgraded version, why? So I can spend my money and still not know if something has gluten in it!? Stupid app, don't bother with this space waste app, you'll only be frustrated while you're shopping and if you have to be gluten free for health reasons shopping is probably already frustrating.
The idea of the app is great. It's easy to use and seems accurate. I've only been able to successfully scam name brand items, though, so for someone who shops at Aldi and buys store brand items at the grocery store I find myself scanning the name brand and then buying the off-brand (takes quite a while!) -- but that could be risky for someone who has Celiac disease. For a 5-star review, add in the non name brand foods!
Seems to catch only sections of barcode and not the whole thing. It will scan, but miss the last part of the barcode and say that item is not in the database. Edit: thanks to the developer for a quick response! I will try more products
I use this app often. I'm still very careful about my choices, but I've been pleased with the accuracy of the database. And the scanning process works well on my phone. Celiacs should always read ingredients to be 100% sure if a product is safe, but this is still a helpful tool. 8a1eaa
Very useful! I didnt know some pickles had gluten in it and this app told me:) ive been adding new items in their feedback when they dont come up in the data base. I wish there wasnsome prize or reward for adding feedback for products to increase the amount of products reviewed. Im not sure the differences between the free version and the 399 one though... But i love this app :) pretty useful for celiac people!
Scans to fast, can't get full barcode, makes it worthless, tried scannin the same barcode 10+ times with no result. Then states do you want to buy the full version for 3.99..yeah no..maybe if I received actual results with original version.
Please tell me where the 80k GF products are... If I go into search, it seems like I can only see about 10 products per sub-category and there aren't enough categories for that to add up to 80k. The app didn't seem to have comprehensive product lists for some basic popular GF brands like Udi's. I even tried paying the 3.99 in this app. But it didn't seem to change anything, and the "FULL" version of the app is still 3.99 after upgrading. Not sure if there's a difference between the in-app purchase and "FULL" app. But if the in-app upgrade didn't work, I'm requesting a refund and I'll wait to see if this improves in the future. Really love the idea and hope this improves. I have a ton of local GF products I've been trying and would love a solid community-generated DB for gluten free products. But I would recommend providing a contribution incentive to unlock "paid" features while the database of products is still small.
Useless. They say it's fully functional but the free version only recognized a few items out of my pantry. Only the store brands or well known names were recognized. All of the other brands it said no known barcode so even the paid version wouldn't be helpful. Try another app.
Exactly what I need! I started scanning everything in my fridge and cabinets. The scanner is super fast and accurate. The few things that didn't show up, but most did. I am new to gluten free and this is perfect for me.
Not sure what the people leaving 1-stars are talking about, this app works quite well. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease (can't have gluten), so I'm glad this app exists. I tested it out on some products in my house, and what really impressed me is how lightning FAST it is when scanning and looking up products. Unfortunately there were some products that it didn't have in its database, but this app will certainly come in handy anyway. I hope the database is expanded in the future!
Great concept for an app! 2 out of every 5 or so I scanned weren't found, though. Once more items are added, it's going to be a must-have for sure.
It scans so fast you can't get the whole barcode scanned! I tried over and over on a box of chex cereal. Even holding the phone right over the barcode before scanning. Was never able to find the chex. Uninstalled!
My autistic sister is gluten intolerant. I got the free version of this app. When I scan it never finds anything and leads me to pay for full version. It's a shame you put a free version that doesn't work. You have to buy full version to use it. Waste of time.
This app has been so very helpful when planning meals when my brother-in-law is in town. He has to have all gluten free foods, so I just check everything with this app to be sure he can have it. Don't want him getting sick on my watch !!! Would highly recommend it!! 466eee
A blessing! My wife has celiac and I have stood for several minutes trying to determine if a product was gluten free by searching online. The biggest frustration being when something should be, like vanilla ice cream, but it is not. This app takes seconds to get what took minutes before. If you want certainty from someone who has done the research, this is it! It even gives informed and educated suggestions when the information is not specifically available. Bought the full version
I have used this app for several years now and have found it to be quite accurate. Also being able to use it while doing my grocery shopping has been invaluable!! Thanks gluten free scanner!
For a free version, I can't complain. This app has a lot of data, even for store and off brands, and it has been accurate for me since I was diagnosed in September. The only problems I had were with seasonal products and barcodes coming up as different product items, but that is a minor inconvenience in my opinion. I love that my scanned items save in a history and update if ingredients change. I plan to get the full version soon and have suggested this app to my family or friends wanting too.
