The Good Beer Guide APP

App used to work perfectly, but recently it has stopped. Says I haven't got a subscription and need to subscribe, but I have. No reply from the support email address. Without it recognising my perfectly valid subscription there is only basic information, but it keeps crashing and freezing. Also the map function seems not to work, saying there is no internet connection, when there is and everything else on my phone works fine. Common Camra - a) reply to support emails and b) fix what used to be a good app.

This is very good now and I use it a lot. It would be even more useful if you could also filter by favourites and/or visited pubs. I often revisit places and would like to check out pubs I've been to before and marked as a favourite. By applying a filter I would be able to see just those on a map rather than every single pub in the city!

It's a lot better than when it started, but still room for improvement. It would be nice to be able to bookmark pubs for trips, so you can plan and share trips with other members, such as adding times for when the group is expected to arrive and possibly have it so you get a notification if there are camra socials going on in the area. And needs better offline support or download an area when you know you might be in poor reception areas.

An app that shows great promise, but fails to deliver. A kind of CAMRA attempt at social media, but buggy and doesn't scale. This is a great shame as with over 10K+ downloads, if only one in ten paid an annual subscription the income of £4,490 should go some way to paying for an app far, far superior to this. I will keep it installed but doubt I'll use it. I may check every now and then to see if it's any better but at present, sorry to say, it isn't worth paying for.

I too am experiencing difficulties in renewing my subscription. When I try to fix the payment, it goes through to the credit card identity verification process. At that point it goes into a loop, repeatedly asking you to verify your identity. My CC company has confirmed that the requests have been made and approved ,but no monies have been taken from the card. Alternative cards have been tried with the same loop being generated. Obviously a glitch in the processing by Google. An attempt was made to reset as per the online FAQs, same result. Come on Google Get it sorted !!!

I held off being negative about this app, despite seeing the frustrations of other users. Whilst it is not anywhere near as good as the old app and far les easy to navigate, I was able to get what I needed and even appreciated the option to see non beer guide pubs. I initially bought a 3 month subscription, however when this expired and renewed, charging me again, it failed to carry over by subscription and I now have no access despite it being due to expire in December. Followed all the instructions in the help section and contacted the support team via the app but have heard nothing back. So now paying without access...very poor.

Far too slow to open, crashes when you open maps. An even worse iteration than the last one. Unlike a book which you can open anywhere, even underwater if you so please, this one struggles outside the UK, making it useless when planning a visit. This app has lost its way.

More information than the old app but not quite as user friendly. A bit flaky picking up internet connections and likes to tell you that you can't get a signal because you are indoors, even when you aren't and a strong signal is showing!

I cannot get this app to update. My payment methods on Google Play for the subscription have all been refused despite working for other apps. I have emailed Camera about my problems but no solution has been forthcoming. I notice that others are having similar difficulties. You need to sort this out, pronto!

Like many other users, the app continues to be unable to process my ongoing subscription, despite trying different payment options. This problem seems to have persisted for months. Totally unacceptable. Get it sorted!

Great if you're away from home. Particularly useful filters. Want CAMRA only pubs? Food? Dog friendly? Then adjust the search and save time. Only four stars not because of the app but the small tendency to rate pubs because of the beer alone. Fine - but some mention of other features one might want to know about might be helpfu.

This app won't open unless my phone is connected to a wi-fi signal. Even if I turn off the wi-fi connection it won't open on mobile data. It has become useless in the street when searching for pubs - precisely where it's needed most.

pointless app unless you pay the sub. If you search for a pub near by it does a wide search and then just shows 10 - so if you are in a built up area you do not get the local pubs. For where i live i can list 10+ pubs that are nearer to me than the nearest one in the list.

Used to be brilliant but now very limited. Only shows a few pubs. Used to be able to subscribe and see more but it says subscriptions temporarily unavailable and has been doing so for weeks. There's nowhere to get help to sort this out.

It is clearly an issue to renew your subscription for the beer guide app. Beer drinkers are getting older, good pubs are increasingly rare and this app was a great way to link the two. Not any more, or so it appears. Sad, frustrating and disappointing

Really useful, particularly the map element. Worth a phone call though to small rural pubs before setting out. Also, listing pubs in order of proximity to railway stations is very useful. All in all, excellent value for money.

Does what it says on the glass. Responsive and informative guide the thirsty traveller. The options and filters ensure that the style of pub required can be found every time. That it is compiled by unpaid volunteers adds to the veracity. Cheers
