In general I like the app but it has a bug. Whenever I click on a notification the app does not open to take me to the article. I have to open it manually and find the article. This happens with another Gannett subscription app I have for the Port Huron Times Herald.
The recent update is a mess. I was trapped in a perpetual login loop, asking for my credentials over and over. Also, my bonus paper is supposed to be the Detroit Free Press but it's showing articles from some paper in South Carolina instead! Please fix this.
I've been using this app for several years and it's solid but not remarkable. However, in the last week it now makes me log in with my password every time I want to use the app. I pay for a digital subscription, I shouldn't have to log in every time!
I lived in East Lansing.for nine years from 1985-1994 and the Lansing State Journal was my newspaper for all things Michigan State.....I always loved the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press but when I lived in East Lansing and even today the Green and White and commentary from Graham Couch is top notch. There more to a newspaper than just sports but for this Michigan State fan it's why I loved reading the Lansing State Journal and you will too!
Disappointing. Got the 99 cents trial and nothing will open. I wanted to see MSU football stuff. The ad is very misleading. How can you check it out in a trail if all you get is ads and none of the "News and Sports". Last I do not know how to cancel it.
The app forgets every single day that I am a subscriber. I receive headline alerts every day. But when I tap them, it refuses access saying I need to subscribe --- and provides no opportunity to log in.
Constantly forgets user is logged in, and continously fails to allow me to re-login. Worse, no 2FA/MFA. Addition: App is super slow and login is usually unresponsive... This app is not a reflection of LSJ journalists work, which is stellar. This app... is poor.
When clicking on an interesting headlines you are not able to read the article as they are for subscribers. Even the articles that are recommended to you are for subscribers only.
My mom is a senior citizen and has been a customer. She has asked time and time again to leave the newspaper at the front door where she can reach it. She has been paying her bill yearly. She is getting dissatisfied with her service, thinking about cancelling it all together.
Log in issues. Tells me it is for subscribers only (which I am) but doesn't route me to a log in screen. Instead tells me to subscribe.
Have had trouble viewing articles at LSj for three weeks. Now you ask me to rate an update before I can tell if there is any improvement. Hard to give such a high rating.
Doesn't remember I'm a subscriber. Keeps charging me but won't give me access to article. Will cancel.
Can't read it says i have to subscribe and already have a pair subscribtion.
Took :45 to get the log in to wirk. And then there was no paper.

News is fine, just not always current and up to the, hour at least. July 24, 2020: same oldness of news, 10hours, 24 hours,etc. Hardly news then.
I want to suspend my paper while I am out of town. I can't find a live person in your office to talk to and there is no option to manage my home delivery on this app. It's just a waste of space on my phone! It is getting deleted!
great app for my local news
I give a low rating due to having to sign in each time I access this app. But today a banner ad has been placed over the screen restricting access to articles & no way to log in without resubscribing. I have made a complaint to the app developer about these issues today (3/22/21). I will change rating if these problems are resolved. However it appears as this is a long standing issue without concern from app development. On the plus side, I like & enjoy reading the articles that are available.
