Login issues & unexpected clipboard access. Doesn't recognise credentials apparently. However, if you attempt to follow the reset password link it displays your email address, postcode, and year of birth as well as showing that you're logged in. Another, possibly more concerning, issue is that it appears to access your clipboard upon app exit. I don't trust it as it stands so uninstalled.
Despite having a subscription to the National online the app will not allow me to sign in stating that my details are invalid.
Despite my having used the app successfully for many months, it has suddenly decided that I don't have a subscription (I do) and won't let me in. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, to no avail. I continue to get normal access on my laptop 🥴
The app will not recognise my login details. I contacted the help service but, after 1 email from them and me supplying the details they requested, I heard nothing. No amount of prodding helped and no response was received. The National is vital to a providing a balanced media but the paper is being let down seriously by pagesuite. Time to go back to the website. Such a pity.
Couldn't get this app to work, even though I have a subscription. The support explained to me that it's actually The National news reader app that I should download, which I did and which is working well. Maybe Newsquest could make this clearer!
Cannot even login but can on the Web version. So many issues it's ridiculous. Have complained several times but still having continual problems.
App is awful. Unable to view pages every day. Enjoy the content but the app makes viewing it tiresome at times.
The app does not work on my Galaxy tablet. It works fine on my S7 phone.
I have an active subscription, the app won't recognise this fact. Correct details given.
I can gain access but only if I renew my password every time through the reset password system
Unable to open my app using my email address and password just hope I'm not going to be wasting my money
Useless - use the web page
App doesn't work. Avoid.
Latest update works first time run but subsequent runs hang on the splash screen. Need to delete the data to get it to work again. Terrible user experience.
Works of for first read then when go to open the next day it just sits at logo screen. I have to then clear the data in my app settings before it will work again. Had to do this 3 times now.
I already subscribe to The National, but now find that, having downloaded the app (,to which I thought I was already entitled) you intend charging me a further £12.99 for the app! I don't think so! Cancel the Google Play app for The National app and stop sending me emails which keep asking me to download it. You must have obtained my email address from my subscription to the excellent newspaper, but stop taking the p ---!
Why does this application request permissions to access my contacts and also manage/make calls!? This is a newspaper viewer - absolutely no need to know that sort of data. To anyone installing - you don't have to accept these in order to run and use the app. Don't let them gather your data.
Nexus 6P, this app seems to just hang with the spinning animation. Pressing download changes the button to downloading but nothing happens, the downloads tab remains empty. Works well on my tablet just disappointed I can't use it on my phone.
I like to do crosswords and Sudoku but it's impossible on this app. I can't fill in the blank boxes and I can't print the page to fill it in either. Very poorly thought out.
The ability to read the paper offline is great. However, even if the issue has been downloaded previously, the app needs to go online an additional time to check the subscription. That is not the normal meaning of offline.
This app has become very annoying the last few weeks, it can take a few hours or even till the next day before it loads, then at times i end up with todays front cover edition but end up with yesterdays edition loading on app ! (Samsung S6 - Android v7)
Whoops! Looks good but as a paying online subscriber already I ain't paying another 20p per copy just to have it in a wee handy app. I'll survive without the app and support the Indy cause in other ways. Uninstalled. Thanks.
I could get to shop to buy a copy in the time this app takes to start up! Not impressed!
Can't get it to work with my subscription why?
There's no need to get my contacts info. I've uninstalled it now because it wouldn't load without access to my contacts. Remove this option.
The website is far far more mobile friendly than this app. I don't really care for having the same layout as the print version, as pinching and zooming to read is tiring. Please bring back the daily email summary, I miss that.
I've used this app since it launched as I couldn't always get a paper. It's been great but it just doesn't work anymore. Tries to update but leaves a blank screen.
As a previous reviewer reports, the latest version freezes at the start-up splash screen.
They take my subscription every month and I cant read the paper. When you use the app it asks for your user name and password then wont accept them. I am about to cancel my subscription.
