The Official Workaway App for Travellers

I am glad you made an app cause it's more convenient while travelling. However, the app is not intuitive at all. You cannot make a search with only a term in every country. You cannot reset all the filters we put. The cards system to view the hosts is, for me, not the best as we only have to rely on the image instead of the beginning of their presentation. But the worst is that whenever you swap with another app, the app restarts. I guess that's the beginning so keep doing the good work! :)

The actual organization and website is great! The app however... I'm not gonna lie it's very bad. Especially when it comes to messaging possible hosts which is the most important part. I really hope it gets sorted out soon because, as a few other reviews have already mentioned, most travelers don't have access to a computer and are only using their phone!

Few bugs I noticed right away. It sure has space for development. I like the UI, but messaging has bugs. When I write message and it's longer than the frame, displayed text doesn't roll down as I write but stays on topand so I can't see what I'm writing. Also it would be helpful if there would be an option to access profiles I contacted even though they haven't responded. I can click their icon and get to their profile only if they respond, not otherwise. Hope you can fix these. Thanks! ;)

An app should make things easier - not the case here. The login screen isn't working very well, took a few goes. The message system is quite infuriating as when you reach the bottom of the box it keeps sending you to the next entry point (I arrive on) and you have to keep scrolling back up to see what you're writing! The map screen for hosts seems to use wikipedia maps (I'd never heard of it) and you can't scroll or zoom at all! Few fixes could make a huge difference... I'll stick to the website

I'm very excited to finally have this beautiful and generally user friendly app! It is much preferred over the mobile web version I had to use before, although there is still room for improvement: - The app is a bit jumpy == clicking the wrong buttons. speeding up or introducing a screen to avoid clicking when page is loading would be helpful. - "Send Message" button is too close to the write message box == unfinished messages being sent already. "confirm send message" button would be helpful

App has lots of glitches. When I type to send a message, it never lets me scroll down to see the text so am often typing blindly. When I lock the screen the message I was writing disappears, which is very frustrating. When I send links to Workaways they never open in the app. In all, the UI makes me want to give up on contacting hosts - it's so frustrating and takes out all the enjoyment and excitement of the whole concept. Please please please fix so I can actually use it!

This app frustrates me no end. Its almost impossible to message hosts, because the page jumps about and lags. You can type out the message, but if you want to go back to edit it - forget about it. A few times because it has lagged so much, the message has sent before I wanted it to! I love workaway as a company so much, but honestly the app is very difficult to use sometimes.

Very hard to use and navigate!! There is no option to sort out clearly hosts, as filters are worthless due to hosts marking all jobs to increase visibility. There is no option to 'remove' or make invisible hosts which you are not interested in so in the end you have to scroll down through hundreds of results over and over. You can add hosts to your favourites list, but there is no way to see whom you have already contacted. Apps also crashes often. Disappointment for paid app!!!

Very useful. Only thing I would add is a feature to allow you to mark a workaway as uninteresting so it doesn't appear in your searches anymore. There can be a section of everything you've deemed uninteresting so you can always reselect it for your search. Also if something is added or changed to the workaway it would appear again in your searches.

The Workaway project is great! It gives huge opportunities to explore, to see, to know, to feel. I really appreciate it. Thank you, guys who made it to be Two stars goes for the application only, not for the project. Application doesn't work smooth. Problems are with maps, loading and in common with speed of work

The app is fine for searching and messaging etc. However you can't stop email notifications?? That's just crazy. So I've started to get a lot of messages through in the app and it duplicates on my email. I've contacted them and they suggested to create a Gmail folder so that they go there! Orrrrrrr you just have a disable notifications option like 99% of other companies Apart from that it's fine! :)

I would like to say that the content and self on the app it's completely fine. However I and Visually Impaired and the app is very hard for me to read the font is very small and there is little to no contrast. Besides that the app seems fine to me. There are lots of apps and websites that are definitely not user-friendly for people with visual impairments.

The idea is super cool and website bis amazing. You guys are doing great work. But you really need to work on the app. It has lot of bugs. Carrying laptop is not a safe option while traveling around so I think you should rigoursly work to upgrade the app and make it as smooth as it's website.

I would give you a five star rating but I won't until you make it easier to open a profile link sent in a message from one workawayer to another in the apps messaging system. You should be able to open a link to a profile directly from the message, this feature would be a huge improvement. Otherwise, I definitely recommend workaway to anyone interested in it. It is Worth the subscription fee

Great app! Wonderful tool for travelers. Has a serious issue with the texting feature, though. It will scroll up repeatedly any time you try to write and/or edit your message to someone, making any draft on the phone virtually impossible to type. Please fix this, as I love this app!!!

Good App, i like the explore on a map option. But the developers should fix that problem, that you can't scroll down and send your message , when the text is a bit longer.. that's a bit annoying.. and when you swap to another app and come back to workaway, that everything is reseted back to your normal host selection. I originally couldn't log in with my email, and didn't think to try my username (silly I know) but I emailed the support team and they responded really quickly and were super nice despite my stupidity. App does everything you'd expect, but would still reccomend using desktop version if you're hunting through hosts etc, just because it's a little more user friendly, but the app is handy to have if you are without a laptop and need a last-minute! I mostly use it to keep up with messages

As much as i love the idea of workaway, your app is worthless, the earlier version was riddled with bugs and most of the features of the desktop site were missing but it was still usable. This version, I can't even get to the login screen. Upon clicking the "Login for Workawayers" icon, it transitions to the login screen for a split second and then comes back to the home screen. Seriously, what are you guys doing with the money if not improving your services?

It won't allow me to upload photos. And it's irritating that it redirects you to your browser when you try to edit 'destinations'. Travellers need access to the site because many are using their phones. Please fix these basic features! Thanks....

Seems to have the same level of functionality as the website. Really good interface, intuitive to navigate & haven't encountered any bugs.

Actually a pretty solid app. I love the concept. I would only warn any potential work-awayers that hosts overwhelmingly prefer women for their posts, and it's somewhat unspoken/ hard to see until you have paid your fees and started looking for hosts. Men seeking women seem to make up the majority of offers. Men may often find it challenging to even get a reply.

4 stars because I've waited for this and I'm so happy they finally made the app. It is not fully worked out though but I am sure it get better with coming updates. When writing Messages the feed doesn't scroll down anymore after roundabout 20 words (which makes writing Messages really really hard) Also I wish you could search for hosts the way you can search on the normal website (with the map and all the filters) Apart from that I enjoy using the app and like how they structure it :)

Love it except, the filter and key word options when searching hosts doesn't always show up in the app. Not so good when you are on the road planning your next move with limited internet access! updating after 2 months of the app and the same problem still proceeds!!

It's great and down to your availability. These reviews about not getting replies - it's a platform used for volunteering.. if you received no reply it's not the hosts responsibility to get back to everyone. Like any position, you simply need to sell yourself. When I first got the app, hosts were getting in touch with me! Which is terrific, to know you can be seen and be approached to work somewhere else in the world. But yes, some cleaning of old, dated pages/hosts wouldn't go amiss.

When typing a message to a host on my Honor 10 phone, it doesn't show the bottom of the screen as I type so I end up making many spelling errors as I can't see the screen without scrolling down and then as soon as I type again it goes back to the top of the screen. Other than that it's great and very helpful.

first of all, no hate towards workaway itself, i love it! been using it for a while now. The thing that bothers me is the app. i have an android phone. The app is really not comfortable to use, you cant closr it down and open it up again, or you'll lose the host you were looking at, you'll lose the message you were typing. It looks like there alot of stuff that still needs to be done and that is easily fixable.

Easy to navigate but some flexibility with saved hosts and sorting them would be more desirable. Moving them arouse folders, for example, as well as being able to see the saved host on a world map. That would have made this perfect.
