This app is unimaginably bad. Terrible to navigate. You can't share anything. And for the last few times I've used it it's been unable to cast (YouTube casts fine). The Olympics should absolutely save everyone a hassle and just put content on YouTube. Awful.
Reply to dev: notifications are turned off. Mainly talking about opening the app to view the schedule and seeing the news articles when opening it. I've been holding my hand on the screen and removing it when I opened the schedule but it went wrong today. The notifications comment is very helpful! Thanks for the spoilers. This app need a setting to toggle that you do not want any spoilers. Setting an alert for events would be welcome as well.
Live results are great when they work, but the app keeps crashing, especially when you switch apps. Added one star, since the latest update fixed some of the crashing issues, sped up switching from tab to tab and fixed most of the button issues in the schedule. Ironically, the app worked much better during Tokyo 2020 Games, despite having a lot more events.
Great app, especially for following the schedule of events, and keeping up with what is happening. I am disappointed, though, that it no longer includes the Paralympics. The app was key to my seeing everything I wanted to watch in the Tokyo Paralympics last summer, and I was looking forward to that now for Beijing.
I really enjoy the app and it's easier to access than using the website in a computer but the only problem is that it crashes too often. I'm an avid fan of multiple sports so I switch pages a lot and it just slows down and hangs. Hope you guys can fix this.
You can tell that sports fans did not design this app. It's even worse then the Tokyo app. No standings in team events again! No splits in any races just final standings. Again. In proir apps for other Olympics it was great you could follow competitions and see lots of data about what happened. Now you have to go to wiki sites to find curling and hockey standings to see who is in the hunt for a medal. Very disappointing. Basically it's only use is a schedule.
So as per my same review last year, when you go into the schedule it doesnt hold your settings when you close the app, i thought you could have fixed something so basic by now. Its annoying to have to set it over and over again. Also, when filtering by country its not bringing up everything that country is in, i set australia but i know there are more sports they are in, for eg freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Also where is the paralympic schedule? This thing needs work so ive reduced stars
Where are the winter paralympics?? Why can I not follow the schedule or see almost anything about them on the app? With the tokyo summer Olympics the paralympics followed on straight after the Olympics using the same app. You could easily switch between the two. Why not the same for the winter games?
Not all NOCs are available when you filter the schedule...and I'm sure France is participating ;) Also, why can't I select two NOCs for to filter the schedule? Same as notifications...I can only pick one NOC... And every time I switch to another app on my phone, the app restarts and I have to navigate to the schedule and filter again. Not a great user experience...
The general app is fine but the filters do not work correctly. I filter the NOC for Australia, and only curling or one other sport comes up. None of the Freestyle events etc. A few more bugs need to be fixed. (Yes I have run the updates)
Incredible bad app. You can only add 1 country as favorite but even with this it doesn't send you notifications. I downloaded the Olympic winter games app. That actually works. 4 years you had to fix this app. Unbelievable.
Should be possible to add to event fikter favorite country automatically, or remeber last choice. After switching to other application and switching back app starts from fresh start and all filters is gone. I set ar begining my favorite country, but there is not any puah messages about my cauntry teams.
The app keeps freezing and then crashing...or just does not open. I mean the summer Olympics were 7 months ago, I would accept that the app would be working smoothly.
Ok to get a quick overview of the daily schedule and the medal count. I am missing the option to get the full overview over the different disciplines, i. e., have the full schedule of a certain sport when clicking on it.
very frustrating experience. All I want to do is watch a replay of the women's 87kg weightlifting competition of Tokyo 2020. After finding it with great difficulty (the app lets you favourite a sport, but this does not give you a convenient overview of all available videos related to that sport) I found that basically none of the video player functionality worked. Only playing and pausing and muting the video worked. Full screen didn't work, neither did playing the video from a specific point.
When I filter for Norwegian athletes competing today, i get more than half the competitions that i know is on today. The app crashes all the time. And it is soo slow. Probably the worst sport's news app I've ever tried
Data source or app often fails to show data (blank pages). Some data & columns are not shown with no extra details available after clicking result (eg. per run). Room for improvement.
The calendar /schedule is so messy and not user friendly. You spend forever scrolling to find the date. Then you can't click " Olympic time" vs Canada time. Very basic interface.
I hope there will be an option to choose a lower resolution for replay videos.
For crying out loud. There's a stupid overlay that blocks the bottom portion of the video. It obstructs the controls preventing scrubbing backwards or forwards of the replay. I enjoy going back a viewing some of the less popular sports but this app is garbage. The ad -or whatever is in the overlay window- kills the viewing experience on my S7 tablet. Unistalled. I'll just view these on the world wide web. Goodbye.
Please, please, please International Olympic Committee (IOC), renegotiate the broadcasting rights of the Olympic games. Simply stated, one network CAN NOT relay all that encompasses the full spectrum of the Olympic Spirit. It is short sighted for IOC to think so with a short term tainted financial benefits. You have the Olympic Network. During the best Olympic years, one could view Olympic events on several channels, and with the technology of today, it has to become better. Forward the message.
Has the ability to filter by country, so you can see what events your country is represented in, but it forgets the filter each time the app is opened. Very very frustrating. Also, the results in each heat should show which athletes/teams have qualified for the next round after all heats are complete: with a capital "Q" for automatic qualifiers, and a lower case "q" for fastest losers. That is basic presentation standard of sport results.
Expecting more-couldn't find round robin standings and when you go back a screen everything needs to be filtered again, doesn't keep them.
Better than the website, but notifications don't work Update 2022: notifications work (somewhat delayed), but the app is now so slow and sometimes won't load at all.
It worked perfectly entil now. I think it's a very bad optimisation from the back-end. The app is trying to download every results. And when we select a day, it's still downloading the other results. The app would have been better if we could swipe left or right to change the day. And the app would download only the day concerned.
