THE OUTBREAK

It's finally happened... the zombie outbreak is HERE and the zombies are on the move. Your only hope for survival is to get active and outrun them!

THE OUTBREAK is a team-based activity game where your real-world steps and exercise allow you to stay ahead of a hungry horde of zombies that's chasing you through the remnants of your city.

Each week of the 6-week challenge, you and your team will race to a new safe house, trying to stay ahead of other teams and the zombie horde. But stay on your toes, the zombies who are chasing you aren't the only zombies you'll run into.

Obstacles and pockets of zombies line your path to each safe house, and you'll have to be strategic about spending your steps (earned by walking/running in real-life) and Power (earned by exercising in real-life) or saving them for an opportune moment.

You'll start the challenge as a human, but if you fail to stay ahead of the zombie horde you risk turning into a zombie yourself... at which point your steps and exercise help the zombies move faster and do more damage. Will you survive, or will you make sure no one else does?

-Sync your steps and exercise from Fitbit or MIO SLICE
-Form a team and get active*
-Use your real-world steps to move your team
-Use your real-world exercise to battle zombies
-Keep track of your progress on the leaderboards

THE OUTBREAK is a 6-week Health Activity Challenge designed to help you achieve your personal health goals by testing and improving your weekly commitment to daily movement and exercise. So… load up the app, join a 6-week challenge, get inspired and get results!

*THE OUTBREAK requires a group code in order to participate. If you are part of a private group challenge, please consult your challenge organizer for your group code. Really like this app, but I wish it was clearer how damage gets dealt to your character. If I'm standing at an obstacle (as you often are, since steps are spent in huge chunks) and you don't have enough power yet, you'll get hit before your next workout. But you won't know when the hit will come or how much damage it'll do. Other than that, no complaints. Keeps me moving!

I'm having a lot of fun! I am telling my husband to help me with zombies. He has to get his guy moving to help. Great way to not exercise by myself and have fun!

Just recently got motivated to lose weight, this competition with my brother has made it fun instead of work. Loved it!

Keeps me motivated and fun with the kid. No problems with the app so far. Wish there were more weapons. Im on my third race and all I have is a bat and candy cane. Would like to see more races with medals and seasons. I see reviews as far back as 2017 and there is only 2 seasons with season 1 having medals and season 2 is just challenges. Not sure once I get all the medals if I will keep going with the challenges. Easy missions get medals and ones that are challenging you only get bragging rights.

The concept is good- teams are motivated to exercise and beat other teams, stay away from the zombies. The graphics are fine, the features are fine. The performance is not fine. - it takes forever to load each time - your supposed to be able to click on players to see info, it rarely works - it's slow to respond - it's unclear how you get points (or at least unclear to me because the slowness distracts me) Also, if you have a member of your team who isn't syncing their info, you should be able to drop them. Teams where all members are participating have a clear advantage.

Exercise inspired concept is cool. That's about it. Terribly buggy (still struggling to get my activity to sync on a Fitbit), not a great interface, and even when it's working the "gameplay" is awful. You (or your company) should just count steps elsewhere. Also, you can turn off push notifications and the app STILL pushes whenever it feels like it.

Take a semi-competitive gamer (myself), give them a game where they have to move around in real life or get eaten by zombies: Next thing you know they are walking 3 miles, then jogging for 3 miles, Exercising... My doctor made me play this, along with a bunch of her patients. As far as I am concerned, she is a genius. It is a little buggy, but overall works well enough to be entertaining and motivating. The whole "power" vs. "steps" mechanic is a little off. Our team would be scrambling around trying to get this "power" resource from logging exercise, just couldn't seem to get enough. It's also a little frustrating when a "challenge" ends, you can't get back in or talk to your teammates. Despite all that, its a brilliant app overall. Best used with a fitbit, but not required (can use google fit).

We have used this app throughout the year to keep our teams moving while having fun. Our participation goes up over 50% when we do this challenge versus a standard step challenge. We wish there were other options other than zombies. Especially with COVID this year, some found it offensive. Overall, a great addition to our wellness program.

Really motivated me at first. But has major flaws. I was placed on a random team. It is team production based game. However not everyone has logged in either due to not be able to sync steps. Cant change the name of the team We are designated team2. Sent an email to support no response and no name change. Once you reach the first objective there is nothing to do to keep you motivated for days until they decide to start the next stage. While stuck at the finish line you get to stand outside building a wall supposedly. But then the zombies get there and you stand outside with the zombies for an entire day hammering away with no point at all. Over all this has a ton of potential just need to make a few changes.

It was working ok for a bit but then it stoped synching with Google Fit. The support person was not helpful, just sent back a very short message saying to uninstall and reinstall the app, which didn't work. Also not really that fun or exciting or motivating to do any more exercise than usual. The "horde" moves so slowly that it doesn't pose much of a challenge

This app only syncs with select devices. I don't have any of those devices, so I used Goggle Health and it doesn't sync giving credit for all the running I've competed. There are common, more reliable apps such as Map My Run, Relive and MyZone that would be better to sync with. In addition the directions were not very clear initially. Luckily, others in the challenge have been helpful.

My workplace signed up for this and it definitely got me moving more than I had been. While we all had fun the app has some things that can be improved. 1st - Your steps translate into team steps divided by how many people are on your team, the smaller team the faster your team moves. There needs to be a standard for all teams regardless of how many members it has. 2nd - Need to allow banking of steps when at an obstacle. Our team got stuck at an obstacle and no one could bank a bunch of steps for the day. 3rd - The app needs to be able to sync up with more wearable devices. I was unable to sync with my watch device and was forced to download and use google fit to track my steps which ended up not being very accurate. Once again I thought overall it was a fun experience, it got me up and moving, and has made me realize that I can do a small workouts to achieve goals rather than long workouts. Thanks!

I found this app by chance and I got a few friends to try the Trial with me. It was fun and I'm excited to experience the increasing difficulty as we progress in the 6-week program. We did have a couple of connectivity issues that were resolved before the trial began or at least before end of day 1st day.the support team was incredibly responsive and kind.

Pleasently surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this app. My daughter and I tried a challenge together, and totally loved it! It got both of us up and walking trying to make our step goal for the day and then to beat it. We enjoyed it so much that we have started a second challenge. For those who are seeking it as a way to motivate yourself for some exercise and weight loss, I highly recommend this app. For those who are seeking it as a way to have some family bonding, I highly recommend it.

It seems that the challenge is unfair somehow. Part of it seems to be is to be an advantage for larger teams and part of it seems to seems to be a preference for is preference for Apple products. Not sure what the issue is but I cannot seem to get 40000 steps where another team routinely gets that for multiple members! Something is not right

The first challenge we completed at work the app worked great. This time it had issues updating steps. Members had to disconnect and reconnect their fitbits or turn their phones off and back on for the steps to update. Other than that it is a fun challenge when you compete against other teams.

Your review is awaiting approval Purchased this race for my sister and I. The app worked great and it was definitely a fun, interactive way to up our steps and exercise time. I wish there were more enemies or another way to spend our power points. I had 1,000 left at the end. Also, even with just the two of us contributing steps we finished in 22 days. It would be cool if we could select a difficulty level next time. Our medals came in a week. Good quality medals! Can't wait for the next one.

Super fun way to stay on top of fitness!

Jam. S. Nov 3, 2020

Cool idea for an app to get people into a team effort, but the app seems pretty under developed and didn't sync up correctly with some of my exercises. Also the third chapter event mostly just prevented spending steps and that was rather frustrating to watch most everyone's momentum come to a screeching halt.

Totally not worth playing if attempting to do it solo. The game itself doesn't have much involvement or anything motivational. No rewards for beating levels and no consequences for failing. I even let myself get eaten by the zombies on purpose, and it was no big deal. It's also buggy, and cuts off tracking around 11pm, which stinks because I workout late. There are free to play FitBit games that go on indefinitely, I can't believe I paid $20 for this limited run challenge.

I find this app fun and motivating. I would love to get a team together for other challenges. I would give the app 5 stars if it worked directly sinc'd to my Xiomi 5 fitness band. it doesn't. I instead must sync samsung fit, Google fit and a third party sinc app to get it to work. BUT HEY, IT WORKS! I do enjoy it. having fun.

Cute game so far, playing with my family. The only complaint I have, is it won't connect to my smartwatch. I have a Galaxy Watch that I've tried to connect the app to. But it only want to pair with the Google Fit app. Which sucks for me, because I dont take me phone everywhere. So its not counting all of my steps. I like it otherwise!

K. M. Feb 3, 2021

I enjoy the game when it is actually working. However, it is frustrating to have to uninstall and reinstall the game when it glitches out. Currently it keeps saying "request timed out." I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app. That did not fix the problem like it did the last time this happened. As I stated before it is fun when it is working, but not at all fun when I can't use the app. Please fix the bugs so that it works properly and consistently.

Created an account, joined a team, now i can't log back in. It doesnt recognize the email i used, which is the only possible one. I've tried deleting and reinstalling this app twice. Very disappointing. Hopefully tbe team captain can take me off the team so they dont lose because of me!

Takes too long to load and the music plays while other apps are playing sound. And the text communication only shows in landscape format. Other than those things, this is an awesome app! Worth it!

The Outbreak challenge is engaging and fun. Not only does it encourage individuals to maintain a minimum step count, the team aspect builds camaraderie among the players. We will continue to play.

Incompatible with Samsung watches (at least as far as I can tell from downloading Google Fit), which is odd since Samsung watches are actually more popular than Fitbit. Only options are Fitbit or Google Fit compatible watches. Samsung isn't compatible with either. Unable to join workplace health challenge for $200 contribution to my HSA. 🙄

Fun app. Got me moving! Slow to load on my Android phone. Had to carry phone always to count steps... wish Android watch could have synced steps. Red font difficult to read. Other than those issues, I really enjoyed it!!

This is great! I signed up through my workplace, and this has really been motivating me to take more steps and run. Aside from the health benefits, it's fun to thwack zombies with the power of your workout. Doing the challenge has also been a good opportunity to get to know more people around the office. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
