Ok. After emailing PD about the login issues, they seem to have been fixed. I really like the content of the paper. I only wished they improved the formatting of the articles. The font and spacing seems to be copied from the physical paper. It they used a format similar to the New York times app, this would be a 5 star app.
Generally I am seamlessly delivered an electronic version of my newspaper for my tablet or phone, but it is a little buggy. Sometimes I'll change your page and the timer will just spin and I'll have to go back and either restart the program or select a different date and come back. All workable things for me because I'm a rocket scientist but not sure how easy Joe blow might have a time fixing their malfunctioning app
It's a frustrating app and never improves. Scrolling down an article reverts it to teeny tiny print. Increasing its size loses my place and scrolling back to where I was does the same thing . Other glaring problems but that is the worst. Reading the eedition of the regular issue is also painful. Am I the only one who reads this version?
My preference is still the print edition, but when I'm up too early or away from home, the online edition will do even though I'm using just my small phone screen for viewing. I hope both options continue to be available far into the future. The Press Democrat is a great paper!
Frequent loss of legible text, which requires reloading of the day's paper. Comics section is poorly rendered when enlarged. It would be nice to be able to do the crossword puzzle straight from the app.
Easy to use. I was concerned about switching from the real thing to digital format but the transition was much easier than i expected. Plus with my aging vision the additional features of expanding the print it has made it easier and faster to read my favorite local newspaper.
Takes forever to go from a link on email notification to actually get into the article on the app. I also have digital subscriptions to NYT, WP, WSJ. All three of those offer seamless one-click transition from email to app article.
Reads like a physical newspaper, without all the page turning to finish articles. Puzzle can be printed and type is scalable for easy reading. It works most of the time with all formats, glitches are different on phone and tablet.
I love how the articles can be enlarged. I like being able to review past editions, and to save and share articles. At first the app was a bit buggy, but that has gotten better.
An excellent regional newspaper. The app is quite good, but occasionally freezes up. But overall a very good app, and a great newspaper.
I switched from paper to this e app due to virus concerns. This app and my subscription to the PD is now a total waste of money. I can't read anything on my SamsungS8. I get kicked out over and over and over again. Scrolling or doing nothing...kicked out. This is a dumb waste of time and money. Ripoff for sure.
App update makes it more reliable than previously. Unfortunately, it no longer keeps track of the last issue I was reading. Still, great way to read the paper
Good choice. Moving among pages is clumsy, but all in all, I love getting the local news....without all that unnecessary paper!
Doesn't work well with my Pixel. I try to enlarge something in order to read and it snaps back or leaps ahead to other pages. I give up.
It's so nice to read all the news while traveling all over our beautiful country in our trailer. Very comforting Especially the fire news.
I love my Sonoma County and I miss it so much. I am in Sacramento now and the Press Democrat is my only link to my hometown! I love the layout and this app is amazing! Thank you 💗💗💗💗
I love this news app. The coverage of local news is exceptional, as well as the state and national coverage.
Simple but efficient app. It reports local news well for the Sonoma County region (and Mendocino and Lake counties, as well.)
works very well, except that it constantly wants me to login, even after I've already logged in. a bit annoying.
Read the paper regularly online especially when I'm out of town. Like the tradition of reading it in print too
App shuts off after 5-10 seconds of use... After the last update... Help!!!!
I have found the app to be easy to use and I find reading the PD convenient.
Very easy to navigate. Almost like having a paper paper
Easy to use and able to take quality news wherever I go.
Very handy when traveling or when the paper gets wet in the rain.
It is difficult having g to extensively scroll to reach the e edition link.
Easy to read and work with. I like it better than a hard copy!
Good basic app, a bit odd in how the pages scroll.
Great to keep up with local community, state, and national news.
Terrible for the last three-four weeks. App slow to load, up to 10 minutes if it will even load. The screen orientation get out of kilter where you select a top page article and the bottom page gets selected. As you progress to the middle of the paper, you cannot even select a article. You have to expand the print and that's a whole other TERRIBLE experience. Yes, I've rebooted & reloaded app. After being a subscriber for 38 years, I may have to cancel. 8/17/20
