The Quest

The Quest is a beautifully hand-drawn open world role playing game with old school grid-based movement and turn based combat.
In the kingdom of Monares trouble is brewing. The governor of Freymore is missing and the island is in tumult. The mages all prophesy a dark shadow looming over the safety of the kingdom. As an Agent of the king, it's your job to find out what is happening and avert any danger.

Choose from five customizable races and an array of skills, weapons, armor and enchantments, and explore a huge world of four cities and a wilderness of mountains, caves, lakes and forests – full of mystery, magic and intriguing challenges. Meet the many inhabitants, each with its own agenda and attitude towards your character. Some will be helpful, some greedy or lascivious or just plain mean. You will have many choices, including some that may place you against the law, along your way to the dramatic ending of your own choosing.

Key Features:

- Pursue a long and dramatic main story and solve many optional side quests.
- Create a highly customizable character and cast dazzling spells, enchant powerful items, concoct potent potions and persuade people to further your goals.
- Discover an open world with interesting locales, day/night cycle, weather, fascinating people, dangerous creatures, readable books, pick-able locks, repairable items, houses that can be broken into, dungeons, traps and much more.
- Play an absorbing card game with three different decks, accessible at the inns.

(TL;DR review: -Great- game, but crashes too often to enjoy.) I just installed today because of several online recommendations and because it looked like the kind of PC games I used to enjoy playing. It's exactly that and delivers on that front. It feels like a labor of love and nostalgia, but it crashes so often that I'm spending 25% of my time reloading and losing play time even with its autosave function. For the record, I am playing on an older Samsung phone that runs Android 7.0

In my neverending "quest" for the perfect mobile RPG, I discovered this beautiful game. It's a sweet retro experience and I've really enjoyed it thus far. *I'm only 6 game days in. User friendly, turn-based (which I generally don't care for, but is seriously fun for me in this environment), cool mini-card game that reminds me of MTG. Fair price! Great soundtrack and story is exciting. I've got nothing bad to say about it!

Like a Daggerfall game. I would love to see controller support and distance rendering in game (then again there is a steam version). I remember playing this on ipod touch demo version. One of a greatest classic mobile game out there.

Great DOS like RPG of olden days. However, my jaw dropped seeing 15 three buck each expansion packs and hadn't even played this yet. 8 bucks for this original and 45 bucks worth expansions...crazy price to pay given much cheaper higher ranked games out there even within games matching dungeon crawlers of this type. Time for some 99c expansion sales!

I have already purchased the game and all of the expansions that are available on the Play Store, but I'm waiting to download the game. I want to play the game for the first time on the Pixel 6 Pro, but I have to wait until the beginning of February to receive my phone. I'm just posting this now, because I hope this game will be compatible with the Pixel 6 Pro (Android 12) by then if it isn't already compatible. Edit: Does this game support the Stadia controller? I still haven't tried the game.

Truly one of the greatest games I have ever played. I would love if we can get community mods like the steam version with steam workshops. Can't wait for the next game being developed by Redshift!

Great and addictive, close enough to oblivion (the elder scrolls 4) to make me want to play both all over again and again and again and again and. . .

Playing for 10 years. Please please add a quest marker for play through . I can't progress. But even the card games are brilliantly fun

Great game! I love RPG exploration games and this is one of the best available for Android. Highly recommend!

Although I do miss the classic graphics from the iOS version, and the smaller footprint, this game is still by and far the best RPG experience in mobile games. So much to do, so much to try. If you're a fan of classic TES style games then you'll love this. Also there are numerous expansions to prolong the experience, and if you enable them in the main game you can freely travel between them at any time. Great game, and great developers.

A recall to the days of Daggerfall, might and magic, and similar grid style RPGs, this is the best rpg the mobile platform has to offer. The artist did a fantastic job with the sprites, and believe it or not the game is incredibly immersive. The side quests are varied and memorable, and the main quest is quite long. combined with what looks like a ton of dlc content, you really cant go wrong if you like this style of game. I know I'd buy it again.

Graphics, story and gameplay are top notch. Played for a long time over the years. Recent updates make text input impossible and the photo saves seem necessary after you put so many hours into a playthrough, but that doesn't work anymore either. I'd really like to play this again, hoping these bugs will be resolved.

i just got this game but my first impression: it seems like a fun game. though i havent progressed very far (yet), the story seems interesting and it seems like theres a good variety of classes and playstyles. It would be nice if the game had a tutorial...i was a bit lost/confused before i figured out how to access the questlog. the controls are okay but far from ideal and could do with some tweaking. as others have pointed out, it would be nice if this game supported controllers and gamepads

This is my go to for old school, turn based dungeon crawling. Beautiful graphics, intuitive, strategic gameplay, great humor, storyline and wonderfully realized lore. Huge map, dungeons, lots of quests, and tons of well priced DLC. One of maybe 3 titles I've actually paid out of pocket for on mobile. Make sure 'enable screenshot for saves' is disabled if the game crashes on lower end phones. Thanks to the developer for the workaround!

I remember playing the classic version on my iPod touch years ago, and I really liked the classic graphics and compressed music, so I was very hesitant on getting the remastered version....but THIS, ladies and gentleman, THIS is EXACTLY how you do remasters of your games. It still holds that essence of The Quest that I adored in 2012, and the graphics are lovingly painted just as they were back then. Redshift are awesome as they always are. Thank you guys, I genuinely hope for the best of you.

A very well made and accessible adventure that evokes some classic RPGs. It reminded me of Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall but was still down to earth enough to actually finish the game and not get lost struggling with controls. I also loved that you could play in either portrait or landscape modes. Admittingly the combat got a little stale by the end, but as a sword and shield character it was expected. Thankfully magic wands let you mix and match spells without having to redo your character.

Great old school rpg. If you enjoyed the old crpgs from the mid 90s then this is right up your alley. Only difference is you control a single character instead of a party. There are great adventures to be had and it's interesting to see different dialogue choices depending on race, fame, and persuasion skill of your character. Lots of fun and good role playing

Absolutely love it. It's extremely Daggerfall like. You can shape your character to completely suit your play style (I.e. plate wearing mage with a 2h sword), travel the world in no particular order and decide whether you wanna be good or evil on your own. Magic isn't as open ended as Daggerfalls insane system was, but you can enchant your gear with a ton of different effects, again to boost your particular play style.

This game is a very nice, classic RPG moderniszed. My biggest complaint is that it is very challenging, which ruins the whole experience. I can't make it much further than the begining town due to scarce healing, and very tough enemies. You can only rest if you have food, and water. Therefore there is waay too much work to stay alive.

Great game reminds me of playing old console rpg games only with better graphics and portability making it more fun. Although a controller would make it more engaging if you can put down the phone and play at the prefered distance your comfortable not to mention touching on screen arrows can be confusing sometimes. Hope the expansions go on sale or in bundle pack discount.

I'm loving this game. I bought it for android and pc. The gameplay is simple. The quests are simple yet challenging at the sametime. You have to think outside the box a little bit. It's a little overwhelming when you first start especially if you are used to more modern rpgs. The game seems to have a decent following and has some good forums to read and learn how the game works. The world is well laid out. it is small but there are a ton of expansions you can buy.Not sure what those are like yet

This is among the best of the 1st person dungeon style games. Play is easy to pick up and the graphics, while simple, are crisp and still beautiful to look at while playing. If you enjoy 1st person games this is a must have. The expansion, I just bought and can't wait to get into it for more story and fun. I also highly suggest reading the manual as it explains everything to get you started. Fantastic job guys, thanks for making this game!

Galaxy note 10+ android 10, default keyboard ect, I can't type my characters name which is disappointing, loved the game while I was on ios with zero issues. Otherwise, fantastic game! *Edit* after looking through reviews, I saw one that said to use Gboard (Google keyboard replacement) and now I can type my characters name and make notes on the map! Still something that should be fixed by the devs, but an easy work around exists.

This game is fantastic. Please don't get put off by the simple graphics and limited movement of character. The story, the choices (with consequences) and the great quests and item gathering make up for it! There is still some fun fighting to be had too.

I love the game. I just wish I could play it. After just an hour of playing, every time I tap the menu button the game crashes before I can save. Great game, but if I can't play it then I'm sorry, you get 0 stars. EDIT: developer's speedy response has provided info that resolved my issue. 5/5 stars.

This game is ADDICTING! Everything i've seen so far has been top notch. The music, environment, combat story, lore etc etc. I just wish that the controller support was better. I installed "The Quest" on my chromebook and hooked up my ps4 controller and the controls were almost perfect. Please dev!
