Flaky. In response to the suggestion to "contact support": I did, a while back and it was a waste of time. Standard stuff like re-install et. al. If you used the app, you'd know it's broken: pages that show up blank, pages that show up with content and go blank after a fraction of a second, pages that sometimes do refresh when changing the tablet orientation, etc... The app used to work but it clearly doesn't anymore and, if you tested it, you'd see it. I have gone back to reading the e-edition in a browser and that generally works.

Version 9.15 fixed major bug that only clearing user data would work around, but the app is still dreadful. Often articles are associated with many categories, so the more categories you include on your feed, the greater the likelihood of having the same article repeated many times as you scroll. Must often scroll horizontally. Some articles "sticky" for weeks. Links to related articles throw errors. Can't rotate screen. Can't zoom photos or full-screen videos. No dark theme support. No search.

I've had this app for several months and will probably delete it due to frustration. I get sorry notifications but when I click on the notification it takes me to the home screen, not the article. There's not even a search button so I can look for the article and I can't find a way to turn off notifications which are useless since they don't take me to the article. I have a Galaxy S10+ running Android 11.

We've had the Bee coming to our gmail for a long time. We had gotten used to using it, mostly for crosswords, puzzles and individual articles that we would print. Started getting way too many 'breaking news' articles. Opted out of those and quit receiving the daily epaper. The Bee keeps saying they fixed it then has us do things to verify but they don't work. We are computer novices. Their fix is too complicated for us.Only went this route because print edition got more expensive than WSJ. Now they send us emails for cheap subscriptions (that are only good for new subscribers) but no e-edition of our subscription. We are ready to quit.

Pretty much what most have mentioned. The splash screen with "The Sacramento Bee" is up for about 25 seconds on my phone before going to the homepage. Then when clicking on some articles it will go to the article briefly, then transition to a blank screen. The blank screen has a left-pointing arrow at the top left of the page, but I usually have to hit it twice to get back to the article. I'll probably just delete this app and use the website, assuming I keep my subscription going.

I can't find a convenient way to log into my subscription account. One needs to log in to access the Extra Extra content in the paper, set a hold, or do any kind of account management. As is, I have to go to Settings and then open the Contact Customer Service window on my Samsung tablet in order to sign in. A totally unnecessary action in a well-designed app. In my opinion, this new app design / implementation is definitely NOT AN IMPROVEMENT. I DON'T LIKE IT. ☹😒

8/26/2021. Upgraded to 9.1.3. Vast improvements in stability & performance. Now, a very nice app. Holding back a star as I still had 2 crashes/restarts reading today's edition. 8/29/2021. Deleted and reinstalled 9.1.3. Restarted tablet in between. Still random lockups and restarts, usually when navigating between pages in replica view, or switching between replica and article views. Can't get through a day's edition without them.

The new app doesn't work on my Samsung tablet or Google pixel phone. The splash screen with "The Sacramento Bee" displays for over a minute. Sometimes it flickers for a bit, sometimes not, but regardless it then crashes. I have cleared app cache, rebooted and reinstalled the app, but the result is the same. I'll go elsewhere to read news of California until I hear that the Bee is alive again.

Same problems as reported by others: multiple blank pages pop up and one has to backspace several times to get to article. Some of the charts and graphs dont appear are not interactive. This has been just a cludgy app for 7 months. Bee needs to fire its SE contractor for poor testing protocols. In addition, the Latest News section had articles that are three weeks old. Didnt the develop a protocol to ID what constitutes "Latest". Why scroll through old articles to get to newer ones?

Constant problems opening the app. Updated the app and still won't open. General operation is not smooth. I use an android tablet, and notice that the app says it may not be optimized for my device. What nonsense is that? Does one have to have an iPad to read the paper?

Its hard. Im so humbled i am in tears. The feeling is overwhelming and greatful isnt a good enough word. You really are all very loved from not just my heart, but complete soul for the time and effort to do this. I will make you all proud. your effort was for nothing. My fire was just lit again. It might take a bit. But i will thank each of you even if it takes months. Thats what you do with family. It was hard to see the promt.But the text was great.i noticed my phone tap when it stalled/emoji

Update: the 8/17 update didnt fix the bug issues i am having. Im using a samsung tabA tablet. :-(. Top tip: go to the website instead. Works like how you'd expect the app to work. Sac bee put out a terrible product. I guess I will email them per all the below responses and cross my fingers for real customer support.

This used to be a way better app. I actually considered a subscription. But for several weeks now it absolutely will not work at all, just shows a while screen with the papers logo. The fact that no one in charge of the site has noticed or is unable to fix it is unbelievable.

Took out the functionality of clicking on top page story to get into it -- and then moving with left or right arrows through all the articles. Used to work this way -- but no longer! Still another disappointment from the once great Sacramento Bee.

Galaxy Note 9 on T-Mobile with Android 10. The application seems to work sufficiently, local news isn't cheap but they ask a lot of tough questions which I appreciate. As for the application it gets the job done but is not exciting to use.

This app is terrible. Very unwieldy app particularrly the daily paper part. Have had all of the following issues, at one time or another: won't load, keeps asking for login, wont resize, wont horizontally or vertically scroll within an article.

This app update WIILL NOT download to my SAMSUNG Chromebook 4 or to another older Samsung Chromebook. It does download to my Samsung Note 20 Ultra but you really can't read a newspaper on a small screen. Until this August 5th update I had NO PROBLEM using the app on my Chromebook but I definitely have one now!! App needs to be fixed immediately!! UPDATE: 8/10 Emailed customer service Saturday. No reply. Apparently the Bee can't understand it was the UPDATE TO VERSION 9 that caused this problem!!

I have not been able to get any news from this app for a long time. I have installed and uninstalled it several times to no avail. I emailed them my issue and they told me to uninstall it and reinstall it. Like magically doing it this time will heal the sick machine. Guess what, it didn't work. There are way to many people with this same problem and it has been going on for a very long time for all of us. I like the Bee, but if I can't read it, what good is it doing for me or my communy.

When you tap on a notification to read the article, you are not brought to the article, instead you're either brought to your e-Edition or Homepage.t You cannot search for things either. Poorly designed and useless interface.

This version crashes almost everytime I try to use it. I must uninstall and install often. I do not have this issue with any other app used on my tablet. The last Bee version also worked well. I use a Samsung device.

Okay, but it would be helpful to have a search option. For example - I will see an article posted on social media, or a friend will mention an article, and I cannot find it in the app. Please update the app and include a search option!

It simply doesn't work. You get something but it's not user friendly. Broken links are just part of the problem. Doesn't anybody test applications anymore? This is a POS. I want an app that looks like the paper edition.

I am a subscriber of this printed newspaper. They started barraging me with robocalls urging to switch to the electronic edition, due to the plague affecting physical deliveries. But this application doesn't allow for any subscription transfer and this newspaper fired all their warm bodies, so any customer assistance doesn't exist. They walked away leaving a broken automated system.

One of the worst apps I have ever had. Opens to a white splash screen and never opens the newspaper. I go to google and open it there and it opens fine. Useless app.
