Developers - why have you broken this app so badly? It used to work just fine, giving the feel of reading the printed paper - seeing stories in the context of surrounding stories, and stumbling across interesting, unsearched-for stories in the process - while also being able to jump around easily within the paper. Navigation is now completely broken - "See..." text is no longer a link to article continuation on a later page, and section links go to wrong sections. Please give me back my paper.
The Android app is buggy. None of the navigation controls on the iPad app actually appear, so I manually have to go page-by-page. Even the iPad app got rid of hyperlinks to the completion of an article, which makes completing stories quite tedious. The old version had serious bugs. This fixes those while creating new ones and eliminating useful features.
Inconsistent. Periodically fails to load and i have to delete an reinstall the app. Also the function that zooms into an article usually doesn't work, sometimes it does but i can't figure out why. Also it loads slower than its previous version. I do like the improvements in navigation and history, when they work. I like print replica better than the app cause print replica seems to have more of whats acutal paper and i can scan all articles together w/o having to open each one to see whats in
Have had to uninstall and reinstall the last two times I used this ap. Links to other pages in the same article no longer work. I never get credit on my print paper bill when the paper is missing or late and I report it. Times is making it very had to be a subscriber for over 40 years.
This is a terrible app. There seems to be no other option but to page through the paper from the first page, page by page. Article continued on A6? Page through A2 A3 A4 A5 to A6. Return to front page to read next article? Page back through A5 A4 A3 A2 to A1. And be glad it wasn't A16. At least with the website, bad as it is, you can click on the jumps, and then click on the "from" to go back. I'm using it on a 10 inch tablet - I can't imagine trying to use it on a phone.
Lucky for me I still have the old app on my computer. This new, improved? app is terrible. This is a prime example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." It wasn't broke, but the new app sure is. Wait, maybe this app is not designed to work with a Samsung tablet. I asked to go back to the old app but itis not possible. I am looking for anoter newspaper to read.
Not worth the bandwidth to even try out. It used to work pretty well (I used it every day). Now it works rarely but most of the time not at all. If you have a subscription, cancel it and just use the free app. You get most of what you need from that, anyway.
Huge step backwards. This is a classic example of a developer falling in love with features and creating an unstable and useless app. Please roll back to the previous version!
I am having problems using this app. navigating from a page to another, several pages away, does not work. you have to go through each page to the one you want.
This app is a downgrade over the previous version. Can no longer double tap to read an article. Now need to pinch and zoom all over the place. Do NOT update to this piece of junk!
The only thing missing from the app is the Comics! It helps to keep me and my wife informed daily, in addition to the print version we receive at home daily (for the comics of course!)
This app update is such a disappointment. You can no longer double tap to read an article and it is impossible to navigate.
I can be anywhere and at anytime and read the Seattle times and feel like I'm still at home in the NorthWest while staying updated with local issues!
Doesn't give me the print version. Opens to nice space Needle Picture with no content! Clicking on other supposed portals in my daily email opens a "highlights" view not actual virtual paper.
It worked for a few days. Now it won't even open. Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it seems to be working now. I can't give it more than 3 stats until I determine how often I have to reinstall it.
The boarder frames take up way too much screen real estate on a mobile phone. The browser version is much better.
Grear, used to work flawlessly, then you sent me all kinds of notices that the new print replica is SOOO much better so I installed. Damn thing is now not loading at all, Thanks ALOT!!
Recently I've found that this app just doesn't come up even though I'm a subscriber. WHAT HAPPENED?? I like reading it online but I'll have to drop my subscription if it doesn't work.
App now hangs opening, have to uninstall and reinstall to try to get it to work. Old app was much better.
Why do you need an inconvenient separate app? This and the online edition should be available on the same app simply by toggling.
New app is awful. Now won't load. Have deleted and reinstalled. Guess will find out if it works.
Every Sunday I am forced to reinstall this app on my Samsung device. Sometimes reinstalling helps, sometimes not.
I installed it 2 times and restarted my cellphone, but I cannot find an icon to open it. Samsung J7 Galaxy.
This app has many problems, the older version was much better. I agree with most of the other reviewers.
Clunky in Chromebook. Please work on it. There are other devices in the world besides iPads.
Terrible, terrible...miss the table of contents. Bring back old version.....PLEASE!!
Frequent problems loading content and navigating the paper. Frustrating!
Much better interface for reading news than the main Seattle Times app
This app doesn't work at all on my Samsung now--it used to work fine before the changes
Cannot double tap to read an article anymore. And it sometimes kicks you out of the issue you're reading. Once it does that you can no longer read that issue even if you go out of the app and go back in. I have even tried turning off my phone and going back in the next day. Several issues of the Seattle Times goes unfinished because it simply won't let me open them up again.
