Nice app. Most of the visuals can be deciphered but the others well it would be nice to know what they mean. But this is a really cool app. 2/25/21 - Just figured out what the 4 extra shorter lines on the app mean. Of course the longer orange and purple follow the Sun & Moon respectively. And the 4 shorter lines, 2 orange and 2 purple indicate the Sun's rise and set position, and similar for the moon's purple lines. I liked the app so much I paid the 99 cents for it the day after I installed it.
This app is intuitive, user friendly, and has all the pertinent information needed. The interface is excellent and the color coding is helpful. I would highly recommend this app to other photographers.
Very interesting app. I like it and always remember that you must calibrate the compass when you start to use it. That's normal with any compass that is turned on everytime. It has to know which way is true north before it works correctly. After calibration all compasses work great.
Does not work in Southern California. The sun is never where the app states it is. I have calibrated my compass, & even adjusted for possible daylight savings errors. It still doesn't work. I live in one of the most populous areas of the US. It's a but shocking this app doesn't work. Ran it on my Samsung Note9, & also my new S21 Ultra - neither are accurate. PLEASE FIX!
Very simple to use out of the box. Intuitave display and choice of base map. A very handy tool for landscape work. For example, if you need a sun angle that lights the ground under vegetation on a mountainside. This tool will help you be there at the right time.
I like this, always accurate for me. Use it to work out where the sun is in relation to my position for photography. Easy to use, no real explanations required as relatively simple layout. Great for planning times and dates for future photo expeditions.
Love it. So intuitive, smooth and always works. It gives me exactly the right information I need to plan a photo shoot, understand what direction the light will be coming from and how high the sun will be above the horizon.
Very good free app giving basic sun and moon direction for any day / time of the year plus lots of additional data. OK, you have to work it out for yourself but an averagely intelligent person will do that in minutes. No fancy 3D or AR but it's free with no Ads, so suits me as an occasional user.
Absolutely amazing. I used the app to determin the direction of true North in the bush by looking up the sun's position at certain times. I am installing PV solar and I used the app to show me which trees need to be trimmed, looking at the direction of the sun at sunrise and sunset on the longest day of the year.
Clean and Nice. Took a minute to see the lines that don't move represent the span of daylight for the day, slider in top shows position at any given time between sunrise and dark. Compass and map look good.
Initially I was frustrated by this app for not having labels to instruct me how the interface worked and what information it was trying to tell me. But as I explored the app, I began to realize it was a finely tuned machine and a work of art that required a bit of curiosity to grant the gift if its information. As a drone pilot, it tells me everything about sunlight I wanted to know. I also have to recommend Sun Position for that purpose. Both apps have their strengths.
This is very helpful if you are a landscape or astro photographer as it allows you to easily plan you shots in advance because it gives you accurate times and positions of the sun and the moon for any day of the year.
Does what I need. Would be a great addition to be able to pick a place and tell me when the moon would be at a certain angle, or the sun. So let's pick a street, when will the full moon be at around 30 degrees over that street during the year, to plan a photograph.
Absolutely BRILLIANT!! Could use some explanation of the symbols and a tutorial as to how to get the best out of it - that said after playing around with it for 30 minutes, I can see how in principle it works and I am very, very impressed!
Was just trying to figure out the dementions of an awning for my kitchen window which faces due west. I was able to scroll through the whole year to determine the angle of the sun. Perfect for my needs. Will come in handy for other outdoor projects down the line.
Some reviews said the app is too hard to use without instructions, but if you're smart enough want an app like this you ought to be smart enough to use it. This is an advanced technical tool. If you don't understand it, get one meant for amateurs.
So far so good! An actual alarm for these times and solar midnight would be nice! But, all in all, it's fantastic! Just what I've been looking for (except the alarm).
Nice features. Easy. Would really like to see option to display selected data on main screen. For me that would be sunrise and sunset for current day
Just downloaded the app. Plan on this for photography while traveling through the Florida Keys. The app looks very complete and easy to use.
Might rate it higher once I undetstand more of it. Getting the basic sunrise/ set and position is easier than other apps I've tried.
Simple to use. Can easily move indicators around map. Just wish it had more features so ended up paying for app but for free app very good.
This app has worked extremely well for me in my amateur attempts at serious photography. In my travels between Arizona, (including the Navajo Nation), Utah, California and Nevada, it has been extremely helpful with sunrise and sunset data within the various time zones.
All you need to know about the comings and goings of the sun and the moon in a nice pretty -and simple- package. Simple to use that is, they don't skimp on the information, it's a tool for a thing, and it does that thing well.
Very simple to use. Very informative. Very useful. The only improvement that I would suggest is to have the option to show lunar distance in miles.
Great app! It allows you to easily tell where the sun and the moon is, where they are going to be, when twilight is going to occur, and gives you the various angles that are concerned at all these points. There's a slider that allows you to easily slide through the various times and angles, and you can easily go to any time of the year. via a "date picker." This is a very practical app; it also helps you to intuitively visualize how the Earth and Moon's position is related to the position of the Sun. You might only use if for practical purposes, but it it will make you curious as to the science of it all. Non-nerds -watch out, you might become just a tad nerdy. Or not. I love this app!
