I think the idea is cool. But when Im given the choice to choose which song difficulty I want, I can't tap my choices. And when I can it's after a few minutes of tapping in random spots. Also, many of the videos dont even work. If these things are fixed, I would totally give it 5 stars
Black box over fret board that other people are having issues with. Super not happy about it. Before that happened I was happy with the app but I can't contact anyone about it and getting super annoyed as I paid for the pro version and I expect it to work or for someone to be available to fix it!
The diagrams at the start of the basic chords videos don't correspond to how they are shown to be played. Also, it is very irritating having to tap randomly on a button to get to the next screen. Paid for pro version and there is a wealth of information within the app, shame that some of this information is contradictory. I will happily change my rating if the app improves.
I just downloaded the app for the first time as it is my uke app of choice as a first time uke learner. It looks very promising and I am really looking forward to using it. I got very disappointed and frustrated, though. Every time I open a video the volume will be muted and I can't even use my phone's volume while using the app. I have to exit the app, and turn the volume high again. Please fix this. I don't know why this is happening. PS I emailed you but it said addressed not found
I haven't even begun to tap the depths of this app! I didn't hesitate to purchase the pro mode, and am absolutely loving it. Looking up chords in all their variations is easy peasy, and most important for me is that the chord library is fully functional offline.
Edit*: Still no updates. dropping my review to 1 star. Great info, terrible app. The app has a bunch of information and songs to learn but the app in itself is horrible. It takes like 5-10 clicks to open one video or link. Its constantly reminding me what the app does with annoying blimps even in the paid version. Pressing the back button takes you to a section you didnt want to to forcing you to find what where you were. Besides the many of problems is a great teacher with many tools to use.
I really really wanted to like this app because I like the ukulele teachers videos on YouTube. But the buttons are so hard to press. Like what is the right spot on the screen to touch and it seems different for every song you select or really anything in a list. If it wasn't for this one massively frustrating thing I would have given 5* and bought pro.
The app is ok... just takes forever to load up after pressing a song I have to press it a million times and it still won't open... I've had to close and reopen the app on many occasions, and I find it quite confusing to get around, but besides that it's pretty good....and that's about the only bad thing with it
The "ukulele guy" was talking way too fast and the tutorials are so short you take one blink and the videos are suddenly over! The interface and design style of the app is cool and it's the reason why I installed in the first place. Please THROW OUT THE GUM , or stop chewing whatever it is then it'd bearable to replay the same video a thousand times just to clearly understand one chord.
I paid for the app because I felt it was important to support the developer, but I have 2 things I would like to see updated: 1) Can't adjust volume in app (have to back out to change media volume) 2) Videos won't play full screen when device is rotated. If these issues are fixed, will be happy to give 5 stars.
So I originally gave this one star as it is so difficult to use I thought it did not work. You have to hold a link with one finger and press it with another, you cannot change the volume of videos when they are open but now that I have figured these things out the app is amazing, so much stuff on it. Please fix these faults though!
Everything about this app is amazing! But I can't keep it, because of the tuner. I would really love it if you changed the tuner to be like the one from the GuitarTuna app for ukuleles, so I can more accurately tune. So sorry, this app is golden, I have to uninstall until you make this change.
Probably the least usable app I've ever tried. Tons of ads. It prompts you to download the full app with just about everything you do, and immediately locks you out of every function so it's basically entirely useless EVEN AS A TRIAL! Tldr; Super annoying hard sell. Basically useless without spending $2.49. Tons of ads.
Just tried using it. I'm not sure how good the lessons are so far because I can't beat the volume. It's LOUD (which is interesting because an earlier review wants to be able to turn it up). There needs to be some volume control.
It has great tools including a tuner. It has a lot of useful info for a beginner like me. For those who have said the sound doesn't work, just tap your home button (minimize the app) and turn the volume up. Then return to the app.
Looks great but I can't turn up the volume. Volume works fine on my phone on other Apps and in general. Some of the tutorials are just about loud enough if I don't play along but most are too quiet to hear in a silent room.
The black box over the fretboard so you can't see the finger placement is a deal breaker. The fact that others have mentioned it in their reviews and the devs haven't responded is telling. Guess I'll be deleting this one. Edit: I decided to give the app another try after seeing the response to my review. The upgrade to three stars is based on responding to the user complaints; I will edit further after I have a chance to use the app more now that it's been addressed.
Hi! Two questions: What does "restore purchase" mean? I play baritone ukuele, can I transpose the chord progression for example? (I would rather not have to use a capo). How do I change the playback volume without having to leave the app? Is this just a bug you are working on?
just fantastic. wish you would make "The Guitar App" now since you've already done the hard work to design and program the features for a uke/guitar type instrument. just need to expand from 4 to 6 strings and create the guitar specific data. cheers!
A must have for any ukulele player, the chord progression tool alone is worth the reasonable purchase price. I'd like to see the UI improved and more video content(one link didn't work for some reason, Across The Universe). Nice job so far.
I like how he explains everything. But no offline songs. Really hard to find really songs for beginners. As this requires a internet connection I prefer to use his YouTube channel. A better categories and songs level organizing required.
Frustrating to use. Cannot change volume when viewing a video, pressing back after watching a video doesnt take you back to the previous menu. Videos do not rotate to landscape when full screen.
Rubbish. It's basically a fancy skin for his YouTube channel, but with more ads, broken volume control functionality, and touch registration isn't working as it should. Videos tutorials for songs not particularly useful. Uninstalled for wasting my time.
The teacher is great at teaching and is a likable guy, but the hitboxes (?) on all the buttons are impossible to hit, and from what i can tell, you cannot adjust your volume while in the app.
The app locks up after 5min of continually asking you for money to an extent where you can not actually see enough of to decide whether to contribute or not. It might be worth the money but I will never know as it has locked solid on a screen which says AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS. Seems a waste of time really.
Video lessons mention downloading and printing song sheets that aren't available in the app. Couldn't adjust volume. Couldn't go full screen landscape. Some video links are broken.
It's ok. I upgraded to remove ads but it's a bit glitchy: no sound at times when opening a video and difficult to find things by searching. Quite good though. I've learnt lots of songs etc.
Yay!!! You got an update! At first I thought you're not gonna fix the bug in the app (the black rectangle in the fret), turns out you're just actually updating the app. I just want to suggest that maybe in the tuning option in the app, the app can like detect if the string is now in tune. That would actually be nice... Thank you and God bless!!! 😊
