The Vanlife App

Very buggy on my android. Froze a couple times editing my profile and some features/buttons seemed non functional. Also the slide in menu glitched. On top of that there seems to be very few users.

Been camping out of my car since December, as I ran away from Canada and it's political b.S and I wish I found this app sooner! Very handy for finding places to cash for the night...

This is a really cool app that helps van dwellers and travelers find the right stops along their journey, my only complaint is that they don't have a area for converted ambulances "ambos" in the drop down section for your profile when choosing your vehicle build

It's fun! doesnt have the time wastability of other "social media" but let's you connect with other vanlifers and those interested in it nearby. Shows you events and lets you create your own. Still seems like theres more they can do with it, not sure what! keep it up

App locks up, I get a map on the screen, then it is so incredibly slow that I cannot use. It's as if this app is written for another OS and not properly ported over to android. I was really looking forward to using it. Update : App actually works, but is buggy and occasionally crashes, usually when internet is slow / poor. It would be nice if you could load an area for offline use due to poor internet in some areas. I find the information / sites to be super helpful on my current roadtrip.

I really want this app to succeed but i keep having technical difficulties. 4/17/21 Getting better. Latest updates have really increased the amount of information about places and events. I am getting more and connected to other nomads. I really like what you are doing and I will keep using the app. I find that the app still crashes. It also uses a lot of bandwidth. That makes it impossible to use when I am in Mexico or places without solid internet.

I was very excited about the vanlife app being released after a long wait. The app though has been very glitchy, freezes, and has 0 content. It's just a map. Has been since downloading, yesterday I was charged 35.99 for a year of what I am not exactly sure. The add content portion has not worked. I have reported problems with no help. Today I am just going to cancel subscription and delete the app. Hopefully this review catches the eye of the proper person. I know that this app can be useful. ✌️

Downloaded the app and signed up for the primo $36/yr plan. Then I switched from an iPhone to a Note. Account won't transfer. Granted I haven't dug into why but it's not super user friendly. At one point, on the iPhone, someone else's pic showed up on my profile. The communal aspect is super intriguing as I'm full time. But the only info I see where I'm at now (Michigan) is Pilot gas stations locations...not useful. iOverlander with a Vanlifers-nearby feature is what I'd like to see.

I downloaded this for 2 reasons. One, I was looking for a resource for free camping sites, we do a lot of camp traveling in summer months. Two, because I saw it on The Profit TV show. But after installing it, never getting the new user setup to work, i am starting to see why it has such a low rating. By the end of watching the show, and still not getting anywhere in the app, about as much as it became clear in the show, nothing was going anywhere, I gave up and uninstalled the app. Sad.

When the developers randomly rebranded the app for the Orc community, and renamed it in the Orcish language, I was sceptical. Then I discovered that the app also barely works. Social location features are constantly wrong and broken. The campsites are 95% harvested from IOverlander, except without the pictures, facility info or useful reviews. Big picture, there are at least 4 other apps that do everything this one does, and in all cases the other apps do it better, without harvesting data

1.2.2021 Much better experience. Updated from 1 to 3 stars. Looks pretty good. I'll revisit this review after my next road trip. Pay model from subscription to in app purchases is good move too. 3.19.2020 Not ready for prime time. There doesn't seem to be Help or a FAQ. What are you hoping to offer that is better than other camping apps? iOverlander is working really well and at a better price. There are also several free camp finding apps with ads that work well too.

Money gone and app not ready. Was charged the $35.99 and found no recourse for a refund. I've worked in GIS software development creating map products for clients in the past and this rollout would have gotten me fired. I'll hope eventually my donation works towards a more complete product. Huge hope for this as we are full time, but it's really lacking. The price is way too high for what is being offered. Back to our free apps that have served us well. We will check back in later. Beta? $ Srsly

Map just freezes on the screen. Can't move around.

This has been an invaluable tool to our daily lives in the van. We've met great people, found water, enjoyed beautiful locations all thanks to the Sekr app.

After using this app for 6 months, watching the cool name being replaced by a name that has no meaning, and watching constant issues with connectivity, zooming out bugs, picture uploading bugs, even GPS location bugs (user), I've decided to lower my initial 5 stars which was published mainly out of support for a new "van life" app. and decided to uninstall this one for a different one. Good luck guys.

It's free and been helpful. Information is growing fast. Easy to find people, places to stay, and events

very hard to use and very glitchy. i have not been able to get any value out of this and i keep checking in every couple of weeks hoping for an improvement but even after the updates, its still riddled with error messages and hardly populated with any useful data.

The app is very hard to use hard to find places that are on the map a lot of the places don't want boondockers

App has improved. Has calander for events. Lets you know if others using app is nearby without revealing your or their location. So will allow you to meet new people if you want. Like other apps has map with places that you can stay. Free and for fees. Rated 1 star before. Decided to change ot after the issue were fixed. Recommend this app to supplement other similar apps.

After reading the privacy policy I removed the app. I'd recommend revising the sections on security and credential management. As it is written it sounds like you have unlimited access to accounts and passwords and do whatever you want with them. I'll revisit the app once this is corrected.

*This review is edited because of all the new things they have done.* The app is for sure getting better, but some things would make it better. 1. Being able to delete convos out of my chats would be GREAT. 2. Having a way to set it so that *only* my connections show up when I search a certain area. 3. Requiring profile pics 4. Let us zoom out as far as we want

Downloaded, Registered, the only thing that works are the cell phone maps. Which I could download from my carrier. I know from other apps that there are many places [free and $$] in Oregon and Florida [where I am currently]. It only shows one place in Florida. This is Not a functional App!

Has thr potential to be a great app! But... updating your profile is nearly impossible and the app crashes alot. Still the map bring several other apps into one and the messaging and other van-lifers in your area is a cool way to network. If enough vanlifers use it. Which.... I dont think they are. Yet. Again. Great potential.

I noticed that people complained about being unable to login, but I had no problems. I installed the app on my phone and on my PC using BlueStacks. Both installs worked. This app has potential but I don’t see much data. I haven’t looked at other apps yet so I will give this one an average rating for now.

This app has improved significantly in the last few months! There are tons of locations to explore and everything runs so much smoother than it used to. We've been taking a break from vanlife for a few months to build out our next van, and this will be my go-to app once we hit the road again!

UPDATE Still does not work on my samsung galaxy s8. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I've been looking forward to the launch of this app. Does notwork on my samsung s8. I have tried reuploading but just geta please wait message. Hopefully the bugs get worked out soon.

Great app, very helpful! My wife and I wanted to stay in our Rav4 at Sausalito, and I found an overnight public parking on this app, which was very helpful and felt safe to stay at since I saw other reviews and photos of people that stayed there. Many other options and places were available. Such a great app that I found through @ theladiesvan 👌👍

I try to log in with Instagram and it just sends me back to the log in page, I'm sure my password is correct, I tried to log in to Instagram with Facebook, the Facebook log in option does the same thing. I would love to see the inside of the app to give more stars but I can't even log in! please help!

way too slow. but it does show vanlifers in a given area which ioverlander does not, and i am very interested in that communal feature. id like more of it, like the ability to add more photos to your profile and/or link directly to instagram.

Having Instagram in combination with ioverlander is much more useful than this app. Being a full time dweller I was really excited about this app but it's performance or lack of (extremely slow loading) and lack of useful info (ioverlander provided better beta) my hopes were dashed quickly! Maybe you guys should just team up with ioverlander, why reinvent the wheel!?
