The Very Hungry Caterpillar Play School

This two yr old loves it. It has a lot of great learning content and with pass, it's all open. There are simple, sweet sounding songs that littles can actually sing along with. Letters and their sounds. Numbers and quantity. Size comparison. Pattern recognition. There's a lot! You won't feel guilty letting your child use this app, there's so much they learn while using it.

The app itself is fantastic and I don't mind paying for it. However it is not possible (as far as I can tell) to use the app once signed up on a child's profile. I have tried numerous times to allow access to the fully subscribed app on Kindle Kids and now Google Play Family Library and it just won't acknowledge that the app has been paid for. Incredibly frustrating. It’s a kids app which doesn't seem to be able to be played on a child safe profile.

I can't justify paying 50 pound a year for this app, especially during this cost of living crisis. My diabetes apps I use are cheaper than this, it's probably the most expensive subscription app I have come across.

Why are there pop up ads in a paid game? I feel this is inappropriate and frustrating for young children who cannot grasp the concept of what they are able to play and what they are not. Certain elements of the game are very glitchy and other elements are the same as other Hungry Caterpillar apps. Will the adverts be removed as I see from previous reviews this has happened in error before?

My child has used this app since he was 2, now he is 4 and still asks for it. It taught him to spell his name and contains characters from his favorite stories. At 3 years old my son asked me to call Eric Carle. He was able to learn about the author and LOVES the content.

Exceptional set of apps. The games are hugely developmental, engaging and yet simply designed. Everything also looks to be designed with neuro diverse children in mind: there are no screaming / competing characters, loud music, no overload of activity or colours. The songs are beautiful and engaging, the meditations are a great hit with my 3 year old, the books are brilliant for both reading practice and imaginative play. I don't understand people complaining about the cost - so much content!

EDIT: Had to completely format the tablet and have my account used first on the tablet. Set up a second account for child as a restricted profile and app now works as intended. Would absolutely be 5 stars if this could be purchased from the store rather than in-app. The app currently only works under a parent account which completely defeats the purpose of having a child account.

My son really loves the My Very Hungry Caterpillar app so I downloaded this app on my tablet to see if he would like it. I forgot to cancel before the trial was up, which was my mistake, but it's very expensive for what it is. I wish I had remembered to cancel before the $59 was charged. Now not only did I unintentionally pay for it, but there isn't a way to transfer between platforms so I can't put it on his tablet. Update: emailed and confirmed that the app *doesnt* transfer between platforms

Ok, so I haven't had the chance to test this with my son yet and thats all due to it saying I have to subscribe 1st, I selected yearly but then it said I was declined. Then I had money in there today and applied then said I was already signed up..so I said to restore purchase and it said i haven't got a subscription yet!! This is upsetting as both me and son play the hungry caterpillar game..hes to cute to ignore lol Please help fix this so I can play with son, only have till the 5th apparently

When the game works, its phenomenal! But getting it to work is frustrating and near impossible. Every time we go into the app, it asks us to subscribe (which we did in October). It used to be reliable, but unfortunately is now a source of irritation for anyone who tries to use it.

If you were to get only one game for your child, this would be it! It is worth it's money, hard to belie We use this app during travels, which we do a lot, it's been almost a year, and he still spends most of his tablet time playing this game over any others, because there's so much to do! It is like a giant toy/activity box on your tablet. Basically all that developmental (letters, numbers, shapes, memory), creativity, reading, music stuff, plus puzzles and some toys simulator are all in here!

1/2020: Increased rating back to 4 stars. I didn't have time to send an email with account information that I couldn't find, as developer requested, however the app is now working properly. Push notifications to "start a free trial" when we already have a paid subscription keep me from giving it 5 stars. Honestly I'd give it 4.9 though if I could-my son is learning shapes, colors, numbers, letters, and words. At 3 years old, he is really loving this app, and the graphics are seriously beautiful.

When I first downloaded the app, my son's adored it. But parts of the app seemed to uninstall themselves and then not want to reload. After way too much time and effort, of uninstalling, cleaning my phone and reinstalling, it would work again...for a while. Now my son's don't want to play the game because what they enjoyed playing only works half the time. They're bored of the same content that is very repetitive. This is worth a one time payment, not a monthly subscription. unsubscribing.

I somehow was signed up for BOTH the monthly membership AND an annual membership. There is no reason I should have to pay twice. On top of that, I never did get the app to open as a member so I assumed it didn't go through. The process was terrible glitchy and not used friendly. I've also had to RE buy expansions on your other apps. For a paid app you need to do better.

Constant restore update and download. My son is on the spectrum and loves Eric Carle and his books. He's also on the spectrum. The fact that it would require restoration of purchase and redownload everytime he finished not only brought him to tears but frustrated myself. I don't know what I'm going to do when I uninstall this but I refuse to deal with this. I was happy to pay the subscription but sadly this app is a waste of time. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Doesn't work. I did the test trial and the app never worked. I tried to unsubscribe but apparently that didn't work either. Just got charged $6.40 for an application that my child really wants to use but can't. Bummed that I ended up paying. Every single things she tries requires trying to refresh the subscription and then constantly tapping and hoping it works (which is probably won't). Garbage software.

I like it a lot, I use it to teach English to my toddler and he enjoys it. My only issue with the app are the ads. I assumed that there wouldn't be any in the payed version but lately some Disney ads have appeared and they're quite annoying.

Game was fun. But app design was crappy af....How can the dev not do anything for so long despite unending customers complaint is beyond me. The biggest deal breaker was the constant need to Restore Purchase over and over again..When i took it on a flight, I ended up no being able to launch the app because it stupidly kept asking me to restore purchase over and over again and i did not have an internet connection. What's the point of paying a subscription if you can't play without an internet connection? I'd give a zero star if possible. And no, i will not email you for a fix because apparently hundreds of other customers must have done the same with no fix in sight.

It's great when you can access it! It seems to be the trend that after you pay they screw with it so you have to go through the choosing of subscriptions! I don't know if it's a scam or a glitch but it's super annoying. I'm just irritated.

This game is fantastic, although recently I've been having pop up ads for Disney games appear. I think for an app you are paying $5.49 per month for to have ads is not really acceptable and very frustrating for my young one to use as he doesn't know how to close ads yet.

Great game, when it works. I have to restore the purchase everytime my child wants to play, so I cancelled the subscription. Now with a month left of the subscription, the game says I have never subscribed and won't let us play. Absolute waste. **UPDATE** I contacted support with my issue. They replied with a request for purchase I.D. and generic instructions for reinstalling on a different platform than the one I listed in my email. I replied with the requested information, and received NO reply

It would be good if it worked. Set up the free trial, it unlocked everything once. After trying to play later everything was locked again. Tried several times to reload purchases and rven tried uninstaling and reinstaling. Nothing worked.

Paid for the subscription, but it keeps getting stuck at the free trial stage and then we can’t even access that.. I canceled my subscription after a month of having issues. It’s too bad because my twins loved the games.

The content is great, but everything technical about the app is pretty much a disaster. I waited to write this review until after I had corresponded back and forth with the developer many times.

***My bank confirmed that Google* StoryToys had charged me $49.99. It was not a hold. The bank said that the payment had gone through so it could not be stopped. I contacted google and they claim that we never got charged for this app so we will not be getting a refund. My bank account says that Google* Storytoys charged us an annual fee and this is the company that makes this app and that is their annual fee for this app. We had to report it as a fraud to our bank account because there is no history of this purchase on my Google account and Google did not want to give us a refund. We were supposed to get a 7 day free trial and we got charged $49.99 on the 6th day of the trial when it clearly says on my account that we still have one more free day. We are very upset about this.

every single time we hit the back button to exit a game it takes us back to the home screen where every single time we have to click restore purchase in order to gain access to any of the games it's an awesome learning game when you can actually play it

Use to love this app so I decided to purchase it but since September it doesn't let my child load videos properly. He trys to follow the flashing circle and it sends him back to the home page. I emailed u guys about it and u guys said the problem was going to be fix on the November update. It has not been fixed. N now some of the videos won't load.

BEST. WORTH EVERY PENNY! At first I thought Id delete after trial because it seemed too advanced for my 20 month old, but she very quickly caught on and surprised not only me, but my retired school teacher mom who was skeptical of screen time at all. so educational and Im blown away to watch my less than two year old identify letters, numbers and shapes with more repetition then I could alone give her.. she can trace letters and numbers and solve complex tangrams in a snap ! wow !

We cannot get this app to work on two different phones and a tablet. It will subscribe us and then content remains locked, then when we go in later, we get an error message and have to delete the app and reinstall over and over.
