The World Ends With You

Square Enix’s fresh-faced hit The New York Times called “one of the best role playing games ever designed for anything” has busted onto Android in a big way, with a slick and addictive new combat system, eye-popping HD art, and (of course) plenty of zetta awesome reasons for longtime fans to double dip.
Arm yourself with psychic superpowers and battle your way through a seven-day gauntlet of action: the Reaper’s Game.

THE SETUP-------------------------------------------------Welcome to Shibuya, a mishmash of attitudes and styles in the heart of Tokyo.

A boy named Neku wakes up in a crowded intersection, alone and unaware of how he got there. Then, he receives a weird text: “Clear this mission...or face erasure.” With that, Neku is thrust into a life-or-death game that sends him scrambling down streets paved with one riddle after another...

What is the Reaper’s Game? Why is Neku a Player, and what is he playing for? Will the Game really end if he survives all seven days? Another mystery is always around the corner.

THE PAYOFF-------------------------------------------------✔ Intuitive, addictive combat with a twistActivate your combat abilities, or “psychs,” with simple touch commands like tapping, slashing, and dragging. Comfy with that? Control Neku and his Game partner on the same screen and take the combat up a notch. Like loot? Boost your item drops in battle with the revamped Fusion system.

✔ Deep replay valueFinish the main story to unlock a hilarious bonus chapter, more quests and items to find, new combat challenges, and secret reports that flesh out the story even more.

✔ Explore a living, breathing cityNeku’s sprawling world is based on the real-life Shibuya in Tokyo. Visit real locations and absorb some real Japanese culture through a hip, fantasy lens.

✔ Exciting arcade actionUse the pins you equip in the main story to play Tin Pin Slammer! Take on various in-game NPCs and be the first to knock your opponents’ pins off the table!

✔ Completely redrawn artEnjoy the game in full HD on your device with art and animation that has been redrawn just for high pixel density

✔ The ultimate soundtrack: 60 songsComposer Takeharu Ishimoto’s complete, sonically sublime soundtrack is included right in the game with high-quality audio and full vocals.

✔ Wirelessly trade Friend CardsExchange profiles with other players, and their avatars will appear in the streets of Shibuya! Not only that, you receive free items for every trade!

Better than the DS version. Captivating story. Gameplay is interesting, but changes so frequently it's hard to master. Fortunately not very hard to execute on this version. Art and Music are both exceptional. For some reason I can only bring myself to play a few minutes at a time now. I've cleared the main game, but the end game is grindy and requires waiting through cut scenes over and over and over again, fast forward is available, but not skip. So it's a bit exhausting, but still a 5!

If you balked at getting the DS version because of the dual screen combat system, this version should make you feel right at home. Combat is done on single screen and you can perform moves with one finger! It's challenging and fun, but not overwhelming. Besides combat, the characters are sympathetic and relatable & the storyline is a poignant romp about opening up to others and getting second chances. Soundtrack is a phenomenal mix of genres. Give this game a chance if you need a fresh JRPG.

To me, TWEWY is one of the games every person should play once, since is so deep and everyone could feel identified with the game characters. However, i would give a five-star rating, if compatibility with later versions of Android (10 and higher) is improved, particularly with actual screens, as these tend to have less width than old smartphones. Thanks in advance.

Playing on Note 20 Ultra. Have experienced zero graphical glitches, crashes, or any other issues (i though pause menu wasn't available, its unlocked through the story...) I love the soundtrack to this! We need the option to buy it! One thing I would like an update for, is if I force display full screen through my phone, instead of filling in the area where the notification bar is, it is a grey bar. This is an amazing game, its well worth the price. I'd play this over DS Twewy

I absolutely adore this game but the one thing keeping it from being perfect is the complete lack of any save back-up. I love playing through it again and again but it's heartbreaking to lose all my progress when I need to reset my phone or move to a new device... Would appreciate it immensely if some sort of back-up system was incorporated one day

Best Square Enix port for Android. The controls are possibly more intuitive than the original. For those complaining about no cloud saves, I've played this game through multiple times on many devices, and you can always learn to use a backup manager. We use Android after all! Thanks for the amazing story. I own many of your games but this one is the best.

I love this game, the soundtrack, combat system and of course the story that being told is very good. The tone and design is very unique, this ds remastered version is loveable. But there is a little buggy when i tried to get a new pin from enemies. Overall i love this game cause the story,c charming character design, stunning graphics, beautiful soundtrack and unique battle system.

The World Ends With You is an amazing game that has bested the test of time with it's mobile port. The controls are far more intuitive and once you learn the mechanics, combat can be a breeze! The angsty, loner of a protagonist's story is a pleasure to play through, especially as he grows as a person through his many interactions. 'TWEWY' mobile is definitely worth playing; both newbies and long time veterans alike!

A great game, but a terrible port. I am playing on OnePlus 7 Pro and apparently due to the specifics of the screen, pressing the "next" or "pause" buttons on the edges of the screen are not registered and I cannot interact with the interface. (I manage to click on "next" with 30-40 taps on the screen).

Great game, though there's one issue: every time I open the app, a popup appears asking me to sign in with a google account. When I try to, the message "Unfortunately, Google+ couldn't set up your profile. Try again later." I'm aware that this app is designed for an older version of Android. I do not want to use a Google+ account to play this game, and the fact that it nags me to sign in every time I open the app is quite intrusive.

Works great on my Pixel 3 with the latest version of Android, as far as I'm aware. Some very minor lag in a cutscenes or two, but nothing major. I'd always advocate for the DS version as a first time experience, or the Switch port barring that, but if you're a fan who wants it on mobile (or only have mobile available to you) then this is a very competent port worth the $20.

Amazing game and one of my favorite all-time, but a big issue that popped up outta nowhere is audio syncing. The game just randomly stopped syncing the audio up correctly and it can be a bit jarring to play sometimes. I tried re-installing thinking that would fix the issue but all I succeeded in doing was erasing my data 🤦🏾‍♂️ wish there was a way to fix the audio but other than that, nearly flawless gem of a title.

I believe this to be the best TWEWY experience from the responsive touch controls to the music quality, let alone its solid story and characters. This is my favorite game and i found it earlier this year on google play... I then tried the original DS release aswell as the switch port... Not nearly as good. The DS has gross sound quality, and smudge pixels, the switch it beautiful with great sound quality but the gameplay is ruined by motion controls. This is the beat of both worlds.

Love the game took a while to decide to buy this version since I played the ds one but it's definitely worth every penny. However If I may give a suggestion is for the game to hide the soft keys(back, home and recent apps) it takes away from the game because I find them distracting and the game deserves every bit of attention it can get. Other than that perfect game.

I'd say this game is a solid 9/10 - Music absolutely slaps, gameplay is fun and addictive (Though the controls can be a little jank), and the story is awesome. Overall one of the best games I've played, and one I've recommend to my friends. Beat is also a himbo and I love him.

Its hands down my favorite game. Great storyline, amazing music, fun characters, and addictive gameplay. I own this on phone and the DS, and while I think the gameplay is better on the DS, the phone version is prettier to look at and you can still enjoy that awesome plot. If you like games with a story, pick this up.

Fantastic game! The port works well. It feels like the same game experience as the original, but on mobile. There are a few bugs, but nothing game-breaking, and they appear infrequently. It doesn't eat through battery super quickly, either.

An absolute blast, and a perfect game for your phone. Never played the DS version, so this being my first taste, well let's just say Square makes excellent first impressions. Can't wait to get the switch port so that I can play it on a bigger screen though.

The ds version twewy was my favorite game, Then they made a mobile version of the game. The remixed versions of the soundtracks so so damn amazing, The controls remains the same and its good with a bit of changes with the partner but the gameplay is still great

This is a really damn good game, it has a really nice character building, Great Soundtrack, and great story. for the price tag it's probably very expensive for a mobile title but for the fact it costs cheaper than the DS or the switch version. Overall i would give this game a 5/5. The Best Ports square has put out period.

A nice experience for the phone. I first tried it on the DS years ago, but I think I was too young to enjoy it. I think the port to the phone is very good. I was debating getting it on a phone vs on a tablet. I decided phone because I wanted a mobile game. Glad I did. I can see the slashing can quick memory games being harder on a larger screen. I hope to grind this game for a while.

This is simply one of the best gaming experience on mobile. The soundrack is legendary, the gameplay is refreshing and the story is amazing. instant classic, and the price is ridiculously low. It deserves a perfect note (and a sequel Nomura !!!)

Sve. F. Nov 24, 2020

The game is not supported on modern phones, on my OnePlus 8T for example I'm getting graphical glitches with the screen edges flickering brightly. It's a shame. The announcement of the sequel would have been a good opportunity to bring this version up to date.

Wil. F. L. I. Jan 19, 2022

I paid full price for this not realizing that SQUARE ENIX has actually abandoned the game and hasn't updated it since 2015. Hello, SQUARE ENIX!!! The Google Pixel 6 is running on Android 12 OS now. It would be a very acceptable time for you to finally update the game again. It's existence on the "Google" Play Store is becoming completely irrelevant at this point.

Tat. F. Jun 30, 2019

To me it's an enjoyable game and I love it but there are 2 things that annoy me. Tin Pin and how it's necessary to win a few rounds in another day and the fact that if you play the game on another phone you have to start from scratch. I had to PAY for it so I think that's ridiculous.

Ber. S. Aug 14, 2021

I absolutely love TWEWY, it's my favorite game of all times from the Nintendo DS era and a cult classic (sorry I'm biased). I've yet to meet a weeb who didn't fall in love with its iconic characters, gripping story, unique gameplay and the AMAZING music. After playing through it once you can hop to and replayany point in the story, adjust your difficulty, find secret reports and play a short and ridiculous AF post game. Go get TWEWY and play it until the end. Fail and face erasure. -The Reapers

The game is fantastic. Perfectly adapted from the original. The soundtrack has been entertaining me for a decade and the animation is crisp and unique.
