Thought Challenger

Thought Challenger helps you gain control of how you feel and what you do by teaching you to notice and challenge negative and unhelpful thoughts. Thought Challenger is built on cognitive behavioral therapy
- a structure that has been found in clinical studies to be useful in examining negative thoughts and reframing them to help you feel better and do the things you want to do.
This IntelliCare app is a member of a suite applications created for a Northwestern University research study investigating the effectiveness of smartphone-delivered interventions for treating depression and anxiety. This study has been approved by the Northwestern University Institutional Review Board (#STU00074405).

Amazing Application worked very well for me. For all reasons below. I can become overwhelmed, anxious, confused and lost in my thoughts. This application was structured, concise, examples are extremly helpful as i cant seem to find self compassion for myself. I found the ap gave me quick focus. Not bombarded with options that are not relevant. If this application had the ability to transfer the entries to a PDF etc. I would have given 5 stars..ty

This app is helpful when your thoughts start to spiral. It has many negative thoughts to choose from, & many positive challenges to choose from as well. I like that you can write your own negative thoughts & challenges, too. That makes it less passive as an app. Sometimes reading a lot of negative thoughts in a row (if you're really spiraling and must challenge thought after thought) seems to bring me further down as I read them there in B/W, but I keep challenging & that usually helps. Usually.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON that this app should demand access to my device's contacts, photos, & information, for "reporting" or any other purposes. ESPECIALLY given the sensitive nature of it's purpose!

Hitting the back arrow to go to the initial thought (if the chosen category doesn't quite fit) erases the initial thought. This is a PITA for executive dysfxn/ADD; you may not recall it! Given the comorbid mood disorders that neuropsych/neurobiological research has demonstrated overlap ADD/ADHD, a nondestructive back arrow & /or "autosave" before categorization would really help app users with both mood/affective disorders/emotional dysregulation AND executive function disorders like ADD.

This app has been extremely helpful when I need a clear head in the moment. It really helps turn your thinking around to more realistic (and often positive) thoughts.

Great concept but it needs to keep the thought at the top of the screen so i can refute it. I got to the refute screen and i couldn't remember specifically what my thought was.

Excellent resource for getting your thoughts clear and positive. Works well for cognitive behavioural therapy and decreases anxiety. Highly recommended!

Helps with my anxiety & depression. Increases self awareness and as a result, helps me be kinder to myself. Finally understand this statement I read- Our emotional vibration determines our reality. Wow

One of great contributions to the science of CBT. It really helps correct cognitive distortions. Improves the quality of life by using it on daily basis. Salut to the researchers and developers of this great app!

It wanted access to my contacts. There is no reason why it would need that. So I don't get any help from an app because it wants my contact data. No you're not getting info about my contacts voluntarily even if I have to suffer more. I would even pay money to use it. But once again not godly or earthly reason this needs access to my contacts.

With Sony xperia it caused me to not being able to check my apps settings. I had to delete it and now it is solved. It may not be compatible but I had to delete many apps to find out this was the problem. You know the "unfortunately settings has stopped". You should check this

Love the concept but uninstalled as I'm just not willing to give app permission to access to contacts. This is personal stuff here!!

Why do all of these apps need access to my contacts? They all look really useful, but for mental health apps you should be more mindful of privacy.
