Thought Workbench

A great app to get the best from Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
You're walking round the supermarket and something triggers in you an emotional response. As per the CBT method you whip out a pad of A4, lean on a can of baked beans and try in vain to scribble some notes with a temperamental biro.

No longer do you need to suffer such ignominy, all you need to do is pull out your smart phone and discreetly follow the step-by-step instructions to log your thoughts. To get started, just download the app.

Log ThoughtsWhen you are out and about, your phone is the ideal tool for logging your thoughts discreetly and easily. It enables you to capture your thoughts at the moment you experience them rather than waiting until you are home when the moment has gone.

Achieve GoalsHaving set goals is arguably the most important part of your therapy, and Thought Workbench helps you work towards your goals by setting reminders and prompting you to update progress towards a goal.

Measure ProgressWhen you have completed an activity you will be prompted for an emotional response towards achieving your goal. This will enable you to view your progress over a period of time for positive confirmation that you are moving closer to your goals.

Monitor MoodsKeeping track of your moods can identify further areas for improvement and Thought Workbench identifies trends from your logged thoughts giving you valuable insight into your psyche.

Plan ActivitiesThought Workbench allows you to set activities and notifies you when you are due to complete a task. It integrates nicely with your phone calendar so you can see whats upcoming at a glance and fit them in with your diary.

Very similar to the 7 column thought records I have used and conveniently located on my phone. Entering my thoughts on the go is now a simple task. The reminders to review goals and activities are helpful. The app itself is easy to navigate as well. The only thing I don't like are the limited amount of emotions to choose from. I'd love to see a long & extensive list or the option to add your own. But otherwise I'm liking everything about it.

Really helpful to get you out of a bad headrace, when it seems impossible.

I just wish there was a step where you could check which negative thought patterns you are exhibiting (blackwhite thinking. Overgeneralization. Etc)

Would be great! However, could you also include positive emotions? With that this would be a 5-star app!
