The latest update has screwed everything up. This app was a great way to stay in touch with my Instagram friends without the bells and whistles of using the Instagram app itself. Now, all I get is a message saying that I've been logged out and need to log back in. It looks like I'll be deleting this app. Instagram ruined a good thing. What a shame!
I don't usually write reviews but threads is an app which I like to use, on Instagram I spend hours on reels which is really distracting, but on threads I can see the stories and chat with them in a fast and convenient way. So it lets me stay in touch without having to deactivate my Instagram account. Please don't discontinue it, that's a humble request. Or I will have to just stop using Instagram altogether. Please 🥺
Instagram team, Please do not take down threads, me myself as a student find this really helpful as I get easily distracted from studies, through threads I (and many more people like me!) can easily keep in touch with their friends and families without getting distracted :( It is a really good alternative for people like me.
Previous updates, we could see more lists of our friends, and they were separated and separated, we could see everyone's story. now Everything is messed up and the app is full of bugs. *In my opinion, updates should be done without any defects and with details!
Thank you for your service. You will be greatly missed. Great app to catch up with my favorites people. Stick my close friends / any friends on the top and we good. Checking friends story never been this easy. And the hell with Instagram doing, Threads should stay alive.
i liked it, but it could be better, like showing and searching all the chats and people i follow, in the camera, should show the filters i saved and i could also post the stories from the app. uh, you cant to customize the app.
it's a good app if you want to quit Instagram but most of your conversations take place on Instagram. so this is an app just to send messages but the only drawback is that it doesn't have filters and lenses like the instagram camera did, so I might not use it as much as I thought I would
Please, don't close this app. It's amazing and I can't focus, when I have Instagram installed. I'm literally addicted to scrolling reels. I know it's your whole strategy, but I would have to stop using Instagram. Please, I want to be in contact with my friends...
This was a great app. But after the new update, it tells me to login, then after I login it logs me out immediately. I really wish this app works again cause it really helped me stay in touch with friends with minimal distractions.
They finally canned the app. Sad. I knew it was too good to be true that cancerbook would allow you to view your messages and chat with friends without all the BS and distractions that are more and more all over Instagram. They must have seen revenue go down when people didn't see ten ads the second they open Instagram
It was good when it was still up, I deleted it for awhile and was hoping to get it back- but it said it was no longer supported. I was hopeful only to be disappointed when I couldn't even use it- take it out the app store if people can't even use it :///
I really like this app. The UI is beautiful and the transition animations are really satisfying. I have two complaints. The first one is that the UI for unsending messages does not match the UI for the rest of the app or follow the theme. The second suggestion would be to allow users to dm anyone using the app, but only show your status to close friends. Maybe group close friends differently, or put them at the top. That's all. So far I love the app though. 👍
New update is garbage. Ability to scroll through all the stories with previews and timestamps with close friends at the top was amazing, and to have all the charts to scroll through was amazing. All of that gone. I never used the camera feature anyway. I used it as a way to increase productivity and not get distracted by the whole Instagram app, not to mention it was super useful regardless.
It's a great app, and I love it so far. But on android at least it has some obvious issues that need to be fixed. For example, often times a friend will send me a photo from the in app camera, which is one of the main uses of the the app, and I will open the photo only to be able to see the bottom of the photo clipped all the way up at the top of my device, rendering the main purpose of the app kind of useless, but I do frequently use it to text, and so far that seems to be pretty solid. S9+btw
I really love the idea. There are a lot of bugs (and lack of features) I'd like to point out: 1. No timestamps. 2. My friends don't seem to get notifications on Instagram when I message them via Threads. 3. I'd love to be able to post stories (atleast for close friends) through the app. 4. Once I've added texts to the pictures I take through the app, the DONE button on top right doesn't work. So I can't add text at all. Regardless, love being able to text my friends without the distractions.
Its a really useful app. Simple and easy to use, doesn't have much to do and thus saves time. On the other hand, idk if others experienced this too or not, but, it has many errors. For instance, When I open a story, it opens and within a blink of an eye, it fits to the lower part of my screen, which results in not allowing me to see the complete story. The same happens with the images I send to someone. I would suggest taking considerable actions for the better. Thanku !!
It'd give this app a 2 and a half if I could. Let's start with the pros: It's a nice, clean, simple UI. You have the option to change the theme which is very appreciated from me since I have an AMOLED display and I can take full advantage of the dark theme. That's about it for the pros, now for the cons: It's missing so many key features from Instagram direct messaging that it makes this app useless. If I get a voice message I have to exit the app and go to IG to see the message.
Team Instagram, please do not shut the app down, if that's your plan. Threads is really handy. One can quickly access and respond to DMs, without getting sidetracked. And prioritise messaging and browsing seperately which is amazing! I only wish I'd discovered it sooner. Furthermore, if you could just change the chat heads to a chat list, that'd be perfect. Also- while I do not really prefer seeing stories on here, a save button for the posts accessed through them would be helpful. Thanks!
It's a very nice app. I really love it. Nice effort on the designs and all the stuff. What I really hate is the camera roll(the app starts with the camera open) and you have to add people to close friends list to chat . I need it more deeper like wanna chat like normal to everyone instead of just some close friends. And there are some bugs too. Sometimes pictures keep sending to our friends without our knowledge.
This was released yesterday and I understand that additional features are incoming. But here are few that I noticed are missing. First the ability to share photos directly from photos app or the gallery. There is no option called Threads in the list of apps for sharing. Second there is a potential bug which I noticed when I came back to the home screen from a conversation, the space which the keyboard occupies when it is active turns blank and nothing shows there. Hope these will be fixed.
This app is really cool. Some buttons are unresponsive and need 30+ clicks to work, such as "remove close friend". I have a lot of trouble trying to make stories too. Some stickers are missing, like Instagram Music and join chat, and I really wish you could set nicknames for other people since memorizing usernames is hard. Aside from that, I really like the different themes and the smoothness that this app has to offer.
Good start, but has a long way to go. Can't record anything longer then i think 15 seconds. I mean it will record longer, but won't save anything past 15 sec. Editing captions is a bit awkward but workable. Also doesn't save any drafts, so if I accidentally exit, your video u recorded is gone. And doesn't allow u to do clips to make a video. It's one run and that's it. But having auto captions is great.
Even though this app is fun, and let you do the texting seperately, and also let's you put status like what you are doing and other stuff, it has one single problem that annoys me. You can send audio to people but can't hear them. I mean like that is ridiculous. If you can't hear audio, then why put a send audio button in the first place. Developers please consider this.
This is a great start for an app, but I feel like it's more limited than Instagram Direct. Features available on Instagram Direct that I feel should be put on threads are the regular story functions (stickers, photo effects, etc.) as well as the ability to interact with people who aren't on your close friends list through Stories or Direct Messages and the Voice Recorder.
I downloaded this app because I was led to believe it has a "transcribe audio/subtitle" option but that's apparently only available in the US. Also it has no additional features for direct messaging (or at least not like I thought). They seem to be just the same as on the Instagram app. So it's completely useless for me at this point.
It could be better. The caption feature is cool, something I'd like to see on the main app. It's too easy to swipe out of conversations sometimes, and I wish you could open the app to all of your conversations. Sometimes I don't have anything to send to someone right away, I just want to check a message. It seems like a half-assed Snapchat for close friends.
What I really like about the app is the aesthetic. It's super clean, it's soft, smooth, and has a true dark mode. I like how the animations look and how it shows DMs. The two problems with the app is that restricting the contacts to only "close friends" makes it way too niche. The app would be amazing if it really was just a Instagram stories and DMs program, because it be better than Snapchat; although I understand why Instagram might be opposed to doing that. My friends don't see a need.
Facebook should not have shut Threads down, it was such a cool idea, I loved this app. The best part was it saved a lot of time and hassle if all you ever wanted to do was keep up with a few friends and their messages. Instagram is a big mess right now, there is absolutely no way to prioritise your newsfeed. This is what happens when you're just focused on profit, you guys shut Threads down because there was no way to effectively monetize it for revenue without doing a huge design revamp.
