Thrive Hearing Control Beta

The Thrive™ Hearing Control Beta app is a full-featured, easy-to-use app designed to work with sensor-enabled hearing aids like Livio™ AI. Thrive lets hearing aid wearers track brain and body activity, view heart rate information, and manage Fall Alert, a system that sends alert messages to selected contacts if they fall. Thrive also gives wearers access to information services like Thrive Assistant, language translation, Transcribe and Self Check, which lets users check their hearing aid performance without an office visit. Thrive lets hearing aid wearers make adjustments to suit their preferences in different listening situations.

The Thrive™ Hearing Control app runs on Android 6.0 or higher and supports smartphone-compatible Livio AI and Livio hearing aids. The following phones have been tested for compatibility:

This app has many interesting features, but it's big flaw is the frequent loss of connectivity with the hearing aids, rendering it useless. The only way I have found to reconnect the aids is to turn off Bluetooth, put the aids into the charging module, and restart the phone. This can be a dozen or so times in one day. If anyone has found other methods I'd like to know

The app is terrible! One or the other hearing aid frequently loses Bluetooth connection. Sometimes when both are connected, sound in one side is distorted or out of sync producing an echo effect. I have tried both regular and Beta versions and both have the same problem. I have experimented with different settings. This is extremely frustrating so now I'm considering just using the aids without the app. Very unhappy!

Purchased Starkey Livio AI 2400 hearing aids. Thought I'd try out the Thrive beta app in spite of it's relatively bad reviews. To my astonishment, every thing works perfectly. All functions. No drops. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S9+. Maybe latest beta release fixed the problems. I love it. Unfortunately, my optimism only lasted for one day. On day two, I experienced the deadly drop out and it wouldn't reconnect Had to uninstall and reinstall to get it working again.Still bugs!

Whenever I pull up the app, it's never connected to one or both hearing aids. It also has a tendency to change listening settings without reason. it gets worse. hearings back from repair. Connections good, but app doesnt see them. Reinstalled AGAIN. App says it sees aids, then says it doesnt, repeats same cycle. Aids went into repair. Came back. Connect to Galaxy S20, but not thru the app.

I had an iOS with my job that just ended and a personal Android. The iOS app was great and did pair with the phone, Android doesn't. The biggest issue is with a custom memory and tinnitus control. There are 3 very little buttons under the volume control and above the menus at the bottom that are so close that I can't adjust them. IOS was similar but you could access those buttons and adjust tinnitus speed and volume. I cannot control them at all on Android even with a stylus. Very aggravating.

Used with Samsung SM-505U.05 The volume and mode controls work well, very handy in public settings. Car mode does not work properly with my phone. Regardless of speed, it continously changes between Car and Normal modes. Bluetooth frequently does not connect on first try. I tap the hearing aid icons and that seems to help. Basic functions are helpful.

I agree with most of the reviews In that the app keeps dropping the left aid. Usually I need to close the app and reopen to get it to connect. My problem is that I'm on a budget, I have a mid grade android that isn't fully supported by thrive. I paid for the better hearing aids so I can stream. Sorry, I have a cheaper phone. (Budget)

Love the idea! But it is soooo very unstable...I've had ONE successful connection in 2 weeks! MOST times it goes in and out so often I just turn it off its so annoying. .... or only one side connects and that is annoying....or one side only goes in and out...again annoying. I don't need a firmware update as you have suggested to many others mine are only 2 weeks old! The hearing aides work great without the app!

The developer suggested I go back to the technician and figure out the issues. Well the technician did a great job tuning the hearing aids. She gets 5 stars. The app gets 1. Functions wont adjust for background noise, machine noise and wind noise. Off on only. Shifts to car and back to the last preset randomly and announces the fact so I'm further annoyed. For an additional 1900$ I can buy a device so my phone will work the way the iphone does. With a 500% markup on these they should work.

The app works on my Samsung 9+. I have 2 issues. The first is that when streaming the left hearing aide drops in and out. Also when answering phone calls the left side does not work. 2nd when using the app to change settings one of the hearing aides fails to connect. If I turn them off then back on they will both connect to the app. Frustrating. I am pleased with the quality of the hearing aides.

An app is essential for the use of the aids. This should run smoothly and effectively. Unfortunately, this app falls short in many aspects.tje connectivity is spotty, it is complicated and not clearly laid out, etc. The big problem is that you can't use the aids without it. Considering the major investment $spent, the app should be much much better. Please work on this!

I wish the app would catch up with modern times and have in the app to tell you when your hearing aid is separated from the user using Bluetooth capabilities. At times I am under the impression that the app was written for a flip phone user. The streaming is hard to get to work and I consider myself tech savvy.

App unstable. Battles to load and identify devices. Sometimes has to be restarted several times in order to function correctly. Custom settings often get lost and have to be reprogrammed. Takes ages to bring up settings and scores. Exercise function is so badly designed as to be virtually useless. It never records movement accurately. Really a frustrating app. It appears to work slightly better on ios devices, buy Android devices are definitely not a priority for developers. Shame on you

Like so many other people, I have an issue with losing the connection of bnb one or the other hearing aid. I've rebooted my phone, did an uninstall/re-install. Can't seem to resolve the issue. Giving one star is over eating the app. Today I unlinked and tried to rethink my hearing aids to the app. Now I cannot connect the devices.

Like many I found that connection to the hearing aids was intermittent. However, I also found that streaming to the aids was also intermittent. I have a Galaxy A21s with Android 10 so do not know if this 'quick and dirty' fix will work everywhere but ... put the phone into Flight mode, start Thrive allow it to restart Bluetooth ... Thrive now solid as a rock as long as Flight mode enabled.

Hi, I see a lot of recommendations for a firmware update and that the hearing aids themselves might not have the latest software but when connecting with the iOs version of the app, all functionalities are available. This android version is, as it is, not really worth installing. When is the final android app available, better than the Beta version which this apparently is?

The TV Streamer is pretty flaky with the Starkey Living 2400's. left ear drops and hard to get it back, even though it says it's connected. Had the OnePlus 5 phone which isn't supported but worked better than this new Galaxy S21+. On the OnePlus, you could do other things on the phone while listening to the TV. On the S21+, as soon as you move away from the Thrive screen, it turns off the TV streamer. The Thrive app can get in funny states as well as the TV streamer H/W and needs to be reset.

New user, great experience so far. I have top Android device so my experience may differ from those using older device. Pairing is different with this app & device since it taps into hearing aid mode vs regular Bluetooth like my other ones. This opens up new features, but eliminates others like Dolby & others commonly available, but this app's equalizer & features do great job bettering sound quality & enhancements. Will keep playing with these & hope to find way to pair as regular Bluetooth.

Worked well since last October when hearing aids bought, great Bluetooth connectivity with my Samsung A51. However, in March Samsung updated their systems to version 11 & now the phone won't recognise the app. Samsung state that the Thrive needs to be updated to deal with the change, Thrive helpdesk advice followed but of no use, hearing aids sent off to Starkey UK workshop for upgrading, that apparently only they can do. Result after not having the aids for two weeks, nothing, App now useless!!

The TV module is buggy. It changes with no notice. If you walk into another room be ready to jerk them out. They go from decent volume to ear busting with no warning. Also don't bend over quickly the volume goes ear busting automatically. I have gone back to my old fashion reliable, yet bulky headphones. The manufacturer needs to hire some real professional sound programing techs.

Not bad overall. The web page lists my Galaxy s10e as compatible with Bluetooth audio streaming to my A4i iQ Platinum hearing aids. I've been unable to get this working. The app is able to switch to the "telephone" memory when I use the phone and it does ring in my hearing aids.

Terrible, Samsung Galaxy note 9 with Samsung 10 os. Simply doesn't work. I spend hours daily Uninstaller and reinstalling attempting to get my hearing aids to connect and function properly. Apple version i have been told works most of the time. Question, why put out a product (android version) that you haven't gotten to work propperly?

Rik. D. P. Nov 17, 2020

The feature is good, but there should be improvements on the user interface with modern design Problem: after connecting with thrive and turned off the bluetooth, then turn on the bluetooth again, the hearing aid is not detected by the thrive.. usually I must restart my hearing aid to connect again

Joh. D. Apr 4, 2020

Horrible. Just received my devices yesterday. Was informed that the could be controlled by app., had Bluetooth capability. App continually drops left device and BT not available on Android v. 8.1.0. Very dissatisfied thus far. For a price tag of $4,700 expect state-of-the-art compatibility. Am in trial period and jury is out on whether I keep these devices.

ste. p. Feb 9, 2020

Just will not perform as expected. Sometimes will not open. Will not allow to control volume. No matter the setting always returns to default settings. The thrive part of app does not function at all. Audiologist can't get it to function. This is a $ 12000 hearing aid

Col. L. Apr 22, 2021

Another Starkey app that won't work with a hearing aids. This application is absolute garbage. A complete and total dumpster fire and so are the products. Nothing works with Android. Have tried 3 different phones (Pixel 3 and S20 Ultra and S21Ultra) on 2 different OS (10 &11) and it will not work. Works fine on iOS so it's obviously just the inability or lack of care on Starkeys to fix this. Honestly super disrespectful since this app not working impedes on many peoples lives. Fix it!

Ron. P. May 5, 2020

The app was installed twice and it never did work. All that I gpt was a cover page and nothing else. This is a beta app and has initiallization problems and may be very unstable. I reinstalled the app and we will see how it goes and if it is better I will report back

Wal. K. Oct 17, 2020

Worst software ever written I have uninstalled & reinstalled with same results. Works for short while and then will not reconnect with both hearing aids and then gets worse. You can not edit it or control volume or memory. If anyone has tried other software for Livio Edge AL2400 aides please tell us!

Spent a lot of $$ upgrading to the Galaxy S10 so I could use Bluetooth function. Hearing aids don't sync up for advice so one ear slightly behind other when streaming. Phone won't go as loud as I need. Don't waste money buying a new phone to use this app.
