Thumbtack: Book local pros for home repair, events

I was looking for a straight forward way to find, interview and then select professionals to help me get things done. This app has made that happen twice already and I have only had it a couple months. My house has been painted (after 3 offers received) and our Trust documents have been completed. Very happy and I recommend the app to neighbors!

So far I like it! Completed a big demo project from it in order to buy a new home and it helped me find someone fast which is needed when you're pressured by stupid closing deadlines. By the way, why are there these deadlines on what might be the biggest and most expensive decision of a person's life? I have many more questions like this about America. Makes no sense.

I didn't really like this app. It made it difficult to find the type of service I was looking for by limiting my search options and only looking at one zip code at a time. Where I live, the zip codes change every few miles, so I had to keep checking other zip codes in order to find someone that was still nearby. I also had very little luck finding anyone to do the very simple task that I wanted. I finally managed to find someone who said he could do it, and then he ended up ghosting me.

Still absolutely terrible. It won't allow you to import reviews from Google more than once + the app keeps crashing. I've lost out on opportunities since I wasn't able to respond to inquiries in a timely manner on my phone (I'm often out and about and don't have my laptop with me). It also publicly shows your response time. So that's just fantastic.

So far I've used the service three tines. For moving, junk removal and now cleaning. I have one bad experience with another cleaning service that I contacted, i waited and the person never showed up or contacted me. Another cleaning service Extreme cleaning contacted me and it was a great experience and the crew did an excellent job

I've used Thumbtack several times, for different purposes, and in different locations. I've always had excellent experiences with the businesses they have connected me with. I will continue to use them, and I highly recommend Thumbtack!

A little slow getting bids and usually only 1 or 2. Still, in my opinion, far better than the other well known app for hiring pros. I put in bids for many projects and to date, Thumbtack had pros for most. That other app only had a pro for 1 and the bid was twice the average cost in Utah.

I like Thumbtack. I always find quality service providers who respond quickly. My only issue is whether the service providers are licensed, bonded, and insured. I can't always find that information on the service providers Thumbtack links me up with.

I never use an app I can't explore without signing up. Bad enough there is a pay wall on the website prompting to download the app, and then sign up too? Girl bye. I'm not trained seal to jump through hoops. Do better.

Thumbtack has helped me find excellent pros in my area, compare prices, easily book work, and get things done quickly and professionally. Great app for busy people who need to get things done around the house but don't have the time or expertise.

I moved into a new house and had a number of small to medium sized jobs. I got quick and competitive responses. The quality of the work was high. Not sure that the app is as popular in all regions but works well in the DMV.

Horrible app don't use, it's a waist of time. I posted a simple job and was linked up with multiple workers, I messages all of them, only one responded, then set up a time and never showed up for the job and then just stopped responding. There is no way to write a review for people unless they let you write one, so for example this person had all 5 star amazing reviews, the app would not let me leave a review for my experience with them. Never got the job done that I needed done.

You spend more money than you make. Get charged for leads that almost never leads to jobs. Just people inquiring about service that they have no intention of purchasing and you have to pay everytime. Spend $500 in leads to get one job for $100. Not worth it at all. Very disappointed ☹️

Used to be cool app. You could upload pictures of your project and pick pros so they can see the pics and give their quotes. Now you can't attach pics to your project, you have to send them to each pro. Most pros just ask you to call them back to schedule appointment, provide a quote, so this defeats the whole purpose of this app Also this app doesn't support HEIC format, only the good old JPEG.

I had someone install a table poorly. When I confronted them, they said they'd fix it and kept giving me the run around. I had to send the tale back and buy a whole new one. When trying to get a refund from Thumbtack, they basically distracted me by asking me to explain what happened 4-5 times omin different forums. They finally asked me to complete yet another form to "investigate" and gave me a window within which to complete. I finally grew tired of trying to get my money back and gave up.

Bad process. First they send you tons of leads even before you join. Then when you join the leads stop coming. They are not supposed to charge you after the client responds. Then someone added a field I do not specialize in. Charge me for it. The leads so far seem fake. I have not spoken to one person. Then they charged me for a "hot lead" and the lead was not in my field. All go to nameless voicemail and they never respond. They have not returned funds yet.

I used thumbtack to find somebody to repair my lawn mower. It was quick and easy and had a response right away, even on the weekend. I'd recommend this app to anyone looking for a service close to home.

Very effienct and easy to navigate for a first time user. Excited to have my son enroll in guitar lessons! He is very young so I was unsure how to go about things. But it was handled in 5 minutes!

Thumbtack itself seems like a great service, but this app is very bad. Every time I use it, it kills my phone's connection to the wireless network so I have to restart my phone. It also constantly drops the keyboard while I'm in the middle of typing descriptions in the app. Very problematic and annoying.

Being new to the area, I struggled to find good and reliable work before finding Thumbtack. Through the app I found businesses to smooth and paint my walls, deep clean my apartment, and provide moving services. Extremely easy to communicate with the businesses while also maintaining privacy, easy to get quotes, and I appreciate the reviews – and no fee! This app is a game changer.

I've hired people from Thumb tack 4 times since 2020. I've been pleasantly surprised and satisfied with each service provider. It's a great way to find help.

If you're a pro and want to advertise your business through thumbtacks direct lead process. Save time, money and the aggravation of dealing with no customer service person to talk to when you have an issue or want a refund. If you request a refund you have to go through their website in order to do so. Their refund policy is unfair. They charge you for direct leads for questionable jobs, people who request your service in an hour or are out of your targeted area

Through thumbtack I was able to hire a personal home organizer who was beyond belief! I'm planning of using it for all other services I may need.

Screening of "professionals"??? I'm very disappointed I hired 2 seperate tile installers the first one didn't know what he was doing at all the second one was either ondrugs or alcohol it took him more than a week to do 40sq ft of floor tile. Then sent unintelligible text messages from 2am to 7am begging for more money and then just kept the down payment I already gave him and never showed back up Thumbtack must not have any kind if screening process at all !

Misleading service. Everyone charges more than they claim on the app. Poor integration (have to pay elsewhere than thumbtack). I remember it being better on my previous move.

The Direct Leads tab does not work (nothing ever shows up here on the MOST CRITICAL AND IMPORTANT part of the app). The only way I know to respond to a direct lead is when my phone pings me to notify me that my credit card was charged and look for the notification in the Messages part of the app. I called TT support; two months email response was update to just released app version. Problem still exists, update did not correct it. Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

Application good but not about app it about how you deal with contractors. Know what you need, your budget and always trust your gut.

Such an amazing app! Connected me with an amazing face painter just days before my kids' party. Will definitely use this app again!

Have found some really quality vendors through this app. The platform itself is easy to use.

I use this thumbtack often and consistently have a great experience with the app AND the contractors on the app. Notifications are quick, the app has never failed and it's easy to utilize!
