TICKOPRINT. Precision counts.

TICKOPRINT® is a powerful watch analyzing and timing application for all MECHANICAL wrist watch movements. It features an easy-to-use graphical interface which shows the classic “running paper strip” diagram like being performed by professional watch timing machines. TICKOPRINT offers an automatic heart beat detection and checks accuracy, beat error and amplitude
* of the movement.
TICKOPRINT® is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Romanian, Finnish, Japanese and Turkish.

TICKOPRINT® comes with an in-built benchmark test to check if your smart phone or tablet CPU is sufficient to run TICKOPRINT®. Sophisticated noise reduction, signal detection and signal computing functions are insuring that TICKOPRINT® can be used with the standard head set supplied with your ANDROID device.

For professional results we recommend the optional set of TICKOAMP, the sophisticated signal preprocessor and TICKOMIC Pro, a high-sensitive clamp microphone, which is designed to perform all kinds of multi-position testing easily and comfortable. This set is available on request.

TICKOPRINT® FREE displays the accuracy deviation in seconds/24h and shows the beat error by the gap in the diagram line. A “Tick” simulation with user-selectable values shows the working model of TICKOPRINT. All tests can be stored on the mobile device and can be replayed for checking the test results. The "running paper strip" direction is selectable (horizontally or vertically).

TICKOPRINT® PRO offers the numerical display of accuracy plus the beat error in milliseconds. It features an additional, highly sophisticated “Trace” diagram which shows the movement ticks in detail and in high resolution. The X
- and Y-axis resolution of the TICKOPRINT® “running paper strip” diagram is user-selectable, too.

It has an in-built watch database which can hold all important data of a particular watch and is capable of saving remarks regarding the test results. The integration time count for computing the average accuracy deviation is user-selectable within given values.

TICKOPRINT® PREMIUM (*) offers additional sophisticated features like display of the balance amplitude value; the balance lift angle is user-selectable to insure high quality results.

The additional graphical waveform display of the tick noise grants the ability for deeper analysis of the entire escapement system of hard to discover damages like defects of pallet stones etc.

It offers extended features for the in-built watch database: the ability to store images of a particular watch and all tests which have been performed for a watch; and to submit a complete watch dossier with test result diagrams and watch images via e-mail. This bunch of highly sophisticated additional features will make TICKOPRINT® Premium being the first-choice tool for watch professionals.

To avoid (thankfully rather rare) negative one-star feedbacks: Before using TICKOPRINT please notice that it works with MECHANICAL watch movments only!

TICKOPRINT DOES NOT WORK WITH QUARTZ MOVEMENTS!

Important notice
- connector for external mic

We recently have discovered that certain tablets which offer WiFi functionality only (without GSM services) do not have a wired external microphone connector. The commonly used and built-in 3.5 mm RCA connector offers ear phone connectivity only, but it is not possible to use an external microphone on these particular devices as the built-in mic contacts are internally unwired. These particular tablets are not suitable for TICKOPRINT as it mandatory.needs an external mic for operation.

Fantastic app, exceptional quality and reporting. Instructions are sketchy. This app duplicates expensive machines, but to get it to work completely in a professional manner with a good running trace and waveform, you need to pay $30. Will work with phone internal mic regardless of what others say, but easier and more reliable with a guitar pickup or other mic options. Absolutely a great tool, and portable!

Does not work as a standalone app, requires external microphone and $30 payment. 5min calibration is ridiculous. There are free apps that work fine.

This seems to function pretty well, in the free version, BUT it's not obvious that you need to select the beats per hour in a selection at the bottom... that's all that needs to be done! Thus, it is usable for a basic time test in the free version. I think that the developer could probably make A LOT MORE MONEY by REDUCING THE PRICE. There are very few app's on the Play store that ask for more than €10, and some of them seem to have a lot more development work behind them. Nür meine Meinung.

This app is totally pointless unless you have the correct hardware i.e. A microphone that can properly pick up the ticks. I've spent months trying to get this to work. Eventually I gave up and installed a PC desktop app which works well with a webcam microphone. I deserve a refund for all the messing around I've done with this flawed software, and a medal as well! It's a con!

Very nice app for tuning a mechanical watch. Data is accurate and can work off sparse data points. However: Take your time to calibrate the app in a quiet room, and make sure the watch is right at where your phone speaker is. At least until it starts to recognise your watch, then you can even move it a meter away and it will still work.

I'm sorry, but the app doesn't work at all. It doesn't detect any ticks from my watch (using my phone mic). At the same time other similar apps (clock tuner) work fine on the same watch and the same phone. I noticed when I clap loudly few times the app starts to detect something... So it might be just sensitivity issue. (but as I said other apps don't have this issue)

Looks promising but really does require a decent additional mic to get any readings. Do not pay for the app unless you are sure you can get results with it. They seem to be offering a mic/amp system for sale to work with the app however by the time you've paid for the app and mic/amp unit they are selling you won't be far of the price of a reasonable (probably better) timegrapher unit from a certain online shopping site. I think it's too expensive for what you get both app and system wise.

This review revised. Having reinstalled the application and removed the case backs of 2 watches with 2834-2 movements to carry out the tests, it now appears to function as it was designed, I don't know whether the first installation was flawed and/ or the 2 watches tested were of too heavy a construction for the microphone used to satisfactorily detect the beats. Hope my initial post hasn't discouraged any potential users and I will check to running of some other watches and report back.

Pretty good and useful app for measure watch accuracy. And its pretty accurate. Just note that you need to do this in silent room and the measurement s/d is not stick to for better accuracy but rather like 20s/d-25s/d. And remember to open the watch back and place the back of the watch on to your phone microphone.

Works great to determine plus or minus seconds per day. Placed watch works over microphone in a quiet room and hit start. If detecting incorrect BPH stop test and start again. Can specify BPH but 'Auto' works fine. Give it a go for free. In my case it installed without issue on Pixel 3. Calibrated without issue. Have not upgraded to pay version but I might. Have dozens of watches to work on. Don't bash the app authors!

I'd think this app is pretty good. I couldn't get a stable reading from it, but I was trying to use it without an external microphone, so it just sort of corroborated what I was doing with a stopwatch (probably not normal horological procedure).

This app works great on my Motorola G7 on Android 10, using the phone's internal microphone. You must have a very quiet room, and calibrate the app in that room. I've set two clocks up with it so far, one a carriage clock with 18000 bph platform escapement, I could get it to around 10sec per day and the clock keeps excellent time. The other was a bit more challenging, it has a 7200 bph balance and will never keep great time but again I can get it quite good with Tickoprint. Very pleased!

Great! Was able to adjust my DG2813 movement perfectly. +or- 5 sec / day with this app. Easy to use. My Chinese automatic no longer runs fast. Works best with watch cover off and mic above spring. Also works if mic pressed on glass at 9 o'clock position. Update - My automatic watch has gone 3 days and its just 3 seconds off from my phone clock. Could not have achieved this without tis app.

This app works great for me. i had to open the watch to get better tick signal but once open a few minor adjustments and it's telling me 1:-1 s/d deviation. It will take several days to see if it is accurate.

Dav. L. Nov 24, 2020

Used to see if beat error was out, but was getting wildly different results, by a factor of a few miliseconds it changed when i stopped and restarted the test each time, must need external mic to get real reading, the app looks very professional though, may get the microphone and give another go but a timegrapher is only around £120 now.

This is a fantastic tool for the watch enthusiast. If you use your phone's internal mic then you have to be in a very quiet place. I use an external Peterson instrument mic which works very well. Thanks for the great app!

Evaluated free version. Does not give average over time, just immediate, so less useful with old large noisy clockworks therefore. But it gave exact reading with a test quartz watch with kbown accuracy. Easy to use.

Col. B. Dec 19, 2021

I sat in a completely silent room with my Pixel 4a microphone right up against the open caseback of my Seiko SKX and it read wildly different beats on multiple tests. Garbage. Maybe give us a 24hour trial of the full version just to see if the thing works, but I have zero reason to invest $30 if it literally does nothing. EDIT to developer response: It literally says in YOUR APP: "You can use the microphone supplied with your phone if you don't have a specialized microphone for watches".

Pet. G. Jul 20, 2021

Would be much more useful for regulating a watch if the bootstrapping of the rate would not be so immense. EG if it has decided the rate is -20s/d and you move the lever it takes ages before the rate settles to -10s/d. Beaterror seems to react more quickly but still slow.

Jua. V. Dec 19, 2020

Need to create a watch to begin testing, BUT you have to pay $30 for the premium version to be able to create a watch. Bruh.| After developer reply/for developer: I'm following the steps of the testing tutorial and in one of the steps I have to go to Watch Data to create and select a watch to test. When I tap on the + button like the tutorial says, I get a window to buy the premium version, so I can't test it for free. It's either a bug or it was made that way but that's my experience.

M.. O. Jul 31, 2021

This app is a novelty unless you spend a bunch of time and money making it work. You need a piezo microphone as well as a pre-amp, neither of which the developer sells anymore (nor suggests alternative suppliers). Lastly, the developer is generally unresponsive except to be rude: he has already rudely replied to this comment as he has the others below. I just ordered a proper non-app "real world" timegrapher after months (years?) and money wasted on trying to get this app to work properly.

Flo. O. Apr 3, 2020

This app is good, at least for me.I have the full version. It shows daily rate, beat error and amplitude giving the option to save and create a report.

I am a full time watchmaker for over 30 years. This device is an excellent option for both the collector as a primary buying tool and the professional as a backup or field option. I see a collector using Tickoprint at an NAWCC show or other retail point of sale purchase place. This tool will help in eliminating any guessing or overzeleaous salesmanship regarding the general overall mechanical condition of the movement. Well worth the download. Great tool, Jeff Forslund CW21 watchmaker

Use to work when i used it a few years ago. Used the same techniques and it no longer works. I can understand why the ratings and reviews have dropped. Other apps are better now.

Mar. S. Oct 5, 2020

Useless. Unless you have a watch that ticks like an old grandfather clock the app is simply incapable of detecting it using a phones mic.

Mah. M. Apr 26, 2019

ABSOLUTELY USELESS! Does not detect beats at all and has no instructions on how to use. clock tuner (another app) ar least detects beats
