Tinfoil for Facebook
Tinfoil for Facebook is for those users that require a Tinfoil Hat when logging in to Facebook. It creates a sandbox for Facebook's mobile site in order to protect your privacy and to avoid the ability others to track your browsing history.

It also requires the "COARSE_LOCATION" permission. This is not used unless you enable "Allow Check-ins" on the preferences, otherwise Check-ins won't work. This option is disabled by default.
If you have issues, please remember that Tinfoil is just a wrapper for the Facebook mobile site. Some things break on the site and there isn't much we can do to fix some issues. Sometimes forcing the user-agent helps (Preferences -> Mobile/desktop site -> Force mobile). It's working ok but just recently I get an unsupported browser message if I switch to desktop view. It also started allowing me to message in desktop view while it looks like mobile view. The only thing I can't seem to do is look for who's following me, not something I care about much but I do like to check that occasionally. If that's the trade off to get messages working without installing fb messenger I suppose it's fine.
One of my favourite FB apps. I've tried a lot (Folio, Friendly, Maki, Metal, Phoenix, Puffin, Simple Lite, SlimSocial, Swift, Swipe etc), but I keep coming back to Tinfoil. I love its privacy, simplicity, and (above all) speed. (You're not wasting processor time creating fancy renderings of FB...). It's also one of the few FB apps that still downloads the largest picture file image size available. If you could copy text, download videos, and messenger still worked, it would be perfect.
Was working great for me until this latest Facebook format update. Words from posts are now falling off screen so you can read the whole post. I've resorted to viewing Facebook via Chrome now. Could be because the app hadn't seen an update in almost 5 years now
Aparrently no longer under development - last update was in 2017, developer's web page down. Now has ads every 3rd post ("sponsored posts"), looses your place in the stream if you reply or zoom in on a picture. I'd still use it over FB's app, but I'm looking for a better alternative'
Would be nice if the app could be updated. Two years since last update. App is showing I have 23 messages in Messenger when I have 0. FB Live doesn't work. But it doesn't work on the official FB app for me either.
I'm not sure if it's this app or Facebook but my news feed has been empty the last few weeks and i have to look at individual pages to see posted things. if it's Facebook then i really hope you guys fight back. it seems to be because i have no friends, which this is a business account and i point follow related business pages and it would be useless to friend people through this platform.
I hope there's an option for deleting messages within the app, also the app is too "touch" sensitive. Its kinda hard scrolling app up/down and the picture just clicked which u didnt intend to.
Ok, but it often reloads the feed back to a new beginning after going to a linked article on the web, or after viewing "more" or after reading a thread's comments, instead of returning to where I actually was reading in my feed. Very frustrating.
Was great for a long time, but now that it's no longer being supported, certain things aren't working anymore as Facebook starts to require newer browser features.
My audio stopped working with videos. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and now it works fine. Back to 5 stars.
Only way to browse Facebook. Absolutely fantastic. Only thing I'm concerned with is that if I search for the app in the play store, it doesn't come up. I can only find it by googling for it. Very odd.
Ever since a recent update movies will not play with sound, if it's muted the video will play, but as soon as I try to play it with sound it just pauses and won't play again
I have always loved this app. But now pictures are not loading properly and the app hadn't been updated since 3/2017. Please update and fix!
Why am I suddenly engulfed by ads when I had gotten them under under control? This is ridiculous! Also, trying to use Marketplace is nearly impossible, fix this app.
ARE YOU UNABLE TO LOG IN?? Long tap this app and select app info, then go into storage and select DELETE storage and DELETE cache. Then it works perfectly!
USELESS... There is NO way to copy links and post time-stamps for sharing outside the app! This item is MISSING from the post context menu! .... useless app.
Love this app even though it isn't clear if it is being supported at this time. It is fast and doesn't wear my battery down like the official Facebook app.
doesn't allow you to change settings after initial set up! this is a huuuuuuge bug, ridiculous is what it is. Fix your app people!
It has quit showing new notifications until you force-stop then restart. It's not a good app....but it's free.
Videos freeze when audio is turned on and there are no updates or fixes since 2017.
can you idk stop the constant refresh when I check a story or article? I spend tons of time scrolling bc I actually wanted to read something and then continue on my feed.
It's broken. Log in once and you're fine, and then you close the app and you are no longer able to log in.
Didn't work with Orbot and kept erroring out. I can't go back to select to force mobile or desktop or that one more option. Uninstalled!
Naturally not as good as real fb, but it uses as few permissions as possible. If you value your privacy this is the best you can use!
It certainly isn't perfect, but it is a lot more secure than the real Facebook app. No more running in the background, draining battery while using anything it can grab off your device for targeted advertising. It also manages to run better than the real thing.
