I learnt programming basics through gw-basic almost 25 years back. Now I am teaching my son the basics of coding through this. Got hold of the Tiny Basic app and is really good. The 4 star us because of the irritating ads that show up the moment I execute a code. It's really irritating. Other than that it's quite good.
I have always enjoyed basic programming. I'm now happy I can program once again I have been told machine programming is easier than basic programming; all I can say is the jury is still out
The only BASIC interpreter I found that's useful for the only purpose BASIC really is for or ever should be used for - that is, getting the early beginners over intimidation at very first step before shortly after moving to PASCAL and shortly after that to their first _real_ programming language (such as C) - never to look at BASIC again unless some day in the future they are instructing newbies of their own. So I give it 4 stars - but for the 5th star, don't ignore the bluetooth keyboard.
It's not a bad, it is very much like the old days of early computers. It needs one thing badly - the ability to save your programs. A better keyboard wouldn't hurt, also.
Nice! I was there when the original tiny basic was released. Fun retro programming. Brings back a lot of fun memories creating problem solving word games. Thanks!
Nice program for the phone. It seems the READ statement only works for numeric data. Sure would be handy to have it work for WORDS as well. Can you add this feature?
One of the better old school BASIC apps. Quest mode fails, though, when on the first quest I can produce the exact desired output and still fail.
Great little Basic interpreter. But it is extremely slow doing math. Forget trying to plot a Mandelbrot Set. A full screen would take hours.
Only complaint: there is no way of deleting and renaming a program. UPDATE: Yes, now I can do it, but there is another bug: if I save as test.bas *giving the extension* I cant see it with dir, but I can load it (giving extension). If I don't put the extension it appear as test.bas.
Tedious editing, misspelled words in app, Quests don't seem to recognize solutions and don't offer hints about WHY it failed. All in all, a horrible experience.
Very good app....just a quick two questions... Where are the files stored in your android phone? Id like to back up my programs to pc incase of a loss. And how big size can your files be? Thanks brill app ๐
The keyboard is pretty uncomfortable and I would hope that quests wold be little more beginer friendly (with hints ech.) but very nice emulator over all.
So far it's been fun. Wish it supported arrays and a help on turtle usage would help. Just got it so I'm still playing.
Misspelled Interpreter on opening screen. LOL! Big time error in the MID$ function. Will not correctly print MID$(A$, 0, 1) Web page help not english.
Inupt a$ and goto command is pretty hard to use when together. But i think that this app was used for graphics programming. I really appreciate this app. :)
Quests aren't explained very good. Keyboard is horrible. Anyway the emu is made very good.
Editing needs to be easier Add cursor up/down It would make IT Easier then using that EDIT command.
worst app i have ever seen.... it always gets deleted when we move to the next line, and if we dont then syntax error. bekaaarrr....
It works but very limited capabilities and no supporting documentation.
Typo inetepreter word. Add more feature option to keyboard like copy paste undo redo.
Fun, educational, and nostalgic. Takes me back to the days of the 8-bit Commodores, Ataris, and TRS 80 computers of yesteryear! KUDOS TO YOU...KEEP IT UP, AND LONG LIVE BASIC!
Very nice and helpful app for learner ๐
It's very helpful and easy to use
I would pay to not have ads
love old programming languages.
None of the quests work.
It works really really good I liked it a lot
great refresher course.
This is awesome! It works exactly as if you were typing commands on a real, vintage 8-bit computer! I used the Interpreter option, and it opens a blank, black screen where you can just start writing a BASIC program. So far, it seems to recognize everything that you could do on a real computer - line numbers, INPUT, PRINT, etc. It even reconizes DOS commands! You can save your programs by just typing SAVE and a file name. You can see a list of your files by typing DIR. Very cool!
